Directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., Arlington is less a suburb than an extension of the nation’s capital. It’s the home of the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, with a number of waterfront parks offering beautiful views across the river to the National Mall.
The community provides a wide range of living options, from apartments, townhomes, and duplexes to condos and houses. A major reason for Arlington’s popularity is that there is so much to do. Washington may be packed with monuments, museums, and other sightseeing landmarks, but Arlington holds the advantage when it comes to the more day-to-day shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife.
You’ll have several options for getting around town or into D.C., whether you choose to drive, take the Metro, or ride your bike — Arlington has earned a silver rating from the League of American Bicyclists.

Property Ratings at 220 Twentieth Street
Current resident who had a terrible experience moving in, causing me to lose over $1k, more than half a day and left me very stressed. My lease started on May 19, 2023, and I ensured that I fulfilled all the requirements for moving in (paying all the fees, etc.), which is vindicated by my move-in confirmation email. My roommate, came earlier in the day and was able to get his keys and move in a couple items. Because of work, I wanted to move as soon and as fast as possible, so I hired a couple individuals from TaskRabbit who assisted me with my relocation. At around 9:30 p.m., I reached the building to move in and offload my items. When I initially entered the building, the concierge, Charlene, gave me the keys and told me everything was fine. My helpers and I then proceeded to offload and assemble my items, which included some furniture, a computer setup, a bed, kitchen appliances, and a bunch of other belongings. We were just about done with the move-in at around 10:30 p.m. when the concierge came to the loading dock and informed me that my payment wasn't verified, and she shouldn't have given me the key or allowed me to move in. This was confusing, as I got an email stating that my move-in was confirmed, compounded by the fact that my roommate was able to move in when the lease is in my name. I proceeded to sign in to the 220livingsecurecafe payment account and showed her that all the fees were paid, along with the email I received stating my move-in confirmation. However, she didn't budge; she told me that I needed to move all my stuff back to the truck and come back tomorrow to talk to the leasing agent. At this point, I was quite furious that she didn't acknowledge any of my items, but to make matters worse, she maintained that I needed to remove all of my stuff and that I couldn't leave it overnight or until I resolved the issue with the leasing agents. After arguing for a while, I realized I had no choice, so my helpers (who I'm paying by the hour), and I started disassembling everything and moving it back to the truck. In the process of moving everything out, she realized she made an error, and told me it was actually fine to move in and that I'd get a follow-up email from the leasing agent tomorrow (which I never received). The movers and I then brought the items from the truck and reassembled them for a second time; we completed the move at around 2 a.m. If you value your time, money, and sanity, please do not sign a lease at this place.
Property Manager at 220 Twentieth Street, Responded To This Review
We are truly sorry for any mix-up with your move-in. Please let us know if you are not satisfied with our customer service gesture attempting to best resolve this. We hope that your living experience moving forward is more aligned with our expectations and you settle in comfortably in your new home.
This building is a superb place to live. I am in love with my apartment. I also want to single out Patrice, Julie, and Candace for their superb service as they helped me move in. They helped me get my dream apartment, at a great price with a view of the potomac. They answered all my questions promptly. Again, can't say enough how much i live here. It's also so close to so much good food! I wouldn't want the secret to get out but I already have my great apartment so it's ok. Best rooftop view I found in looking at 10 different apartments. --Rob C
The management of this place is horrible. I've been in the DC area for 10 years and this is the worst place I've been in. It has tons of potential, but it's just awful. They over promise and severely under-deliver ever time. The rooftop is a perfect view, but half completely and half of that is actually operational. I also had a fire in the apartment above me and never received even an email (let alone a phone call) from the building to inform me that there was massive damage to my place. A week after the incident- they have yet to clean it up.
I was supposed to stay at this property for two weeks. I booked well in advance with my credit card on a booking website and I got a mail confirming my booking. Rate was not refundable and booking was not changeable. Three-four days before my arrival in Washington D.C. I got a mail from the property management confirming once again the booking and saying details would follow. Indeed, two days before my arrival I got another mail, giving apartment number, wifi password, etc. Finally, the same day of my arrival –just a couple of hours before my flight’s departure- I got a mail saying the apartment was not available anymore because the current customer decided to extend his staying; I was offered another apartment in a different property. I checked in internet and I saw the second property was not far away, but not so conveniently located; besides, it had a lower price (Older building? Location? Amenities?) and reviewers’ score was lower as well. In any case, the location was very important to me and that’s the main reason I booked at the 220 Twentieth Street (I went recently under surgery and cannot walk; the office were I was supposed to work for two weeks is just in front of the property), so I called the property manager explaining why I couldn’t accept the change. Besides, the booking was not changeable/not refundable; if I couldn’t change my mind, the property management couldn’t either. No way. The apartment I booked and paid for was not available for me. So, there is a lack of organization that is not acceptable. My experience is that booking at the 220 Twentieth Street doesn’t give any guarantee to have a place once arrived in town.
WAY more cons than pros. Not what I would ever classify as "luxury" - Non-responsive to maintenance requests. DAILY, heavy dog urination in common areas/right outside the main entrance. (See posted pics!) Requested signs be put up to request residents not have their dogs urinate right by the door. Nothing happened. After multiple complaints, we were told to use another entrance. - Garage had leaking pipes (looked like sewage pipes) and funky smells--Construction in the garage left our car covered in dust multiple time. When we complained, we were told 220 was renting it from another company so there was nothing they could do about it. - Dishwasher was NOT actually washing dishes. Totally unsanitary. Requested maintenance. No response multiple times and then a small bottle of a dish-washing agent and the manual were left for us on the kitchen counter.
