Lyon Village lies about five miles west of Washington DC, in Virginia’s Arlington County. The urban village is known for elaborate architectural details on buildings and Victorian homes alongside charming bungalows. People move to the area for its convenient commute without having to live within the city limits. A tight-knit atmosphere and community attracts professionals and families, with many residents commuting into DC. The area is relatively quiet and has a small-town feel but remains close to the buzz of the city. The residential area sits tucked between other amenity-rich neighborhoods, such as Clarendon, which helps locals meet all their needs without having to leave their homey haven.

Property Ratings at 2201 Wilson
We recently rented a two bedroom and two bath at 2201 Wilson Blvd.. We paid extra for a high floor and better view. Management failed to notify us that a major construction project would start outside our windows and balcony. We now feel like we are living in a permanent construction zone with no end in site. After letting management know that I was extremely displeased with their misrepresentation, the simply did not care. They offered no solution to out problem with living in a construction zone. No break on rent, not even an offer to clean our windows from the constant dirt blown up from the site. Not even a mention of letting us out of the lease early. They just don't care. I will never rent with this company again.
Pros: Great location, welcoming personnel, pets friendly, lots of convenient amenities (package management, gym, swimming pool, dry cleaners, etc.). Cons: Their bathrooms are exceptionally noisy: you will hear flushing from your neighbors upstairs in every single corner of your apartment, and will probably hate it soon (like I do) if the bathroom is located right next to the bedroom and the living room. The noise from the neighbors' PVC drain pipes will be waking you up at night (keeping the bathroom door closed will not help). I brought the issue up to the management and asked to install some insulation or move me to the 10th floor, but the management replied that there was nothing wrong the bathroom, and that I was welcome to switch to the 10th floor by paying $2085 fees. I'd rather move to another building once my lease term ends here. So my advice, if you absolutely need to rent at 2201 Wilson, chose an apartment on the top 10th floor from the very beginning. I wish someone has advised me before I signed their leasing agreement, because when I toured the apartment, nobody told be about the rumbling pipes and I discovered this annoyance only when I signed the contract and moved in.
As a couple of DC professionals who are well-informed about the DMV apartment market, I can confidently say the management staff at 2201 wilson blvd is the most unaccommodating and unprofessional group of individuals my husband and I have had to interact with. As mentioned in multiple previous reviews, they take the liberty of drastically increasing the rent. This is something my husband and I decided to tolerate because we liked the area. However, as soon as we moved out, we received a $200 bill in the mail for "cleaning services" that they claim were needed upon our departure. After trying multiple times to politely speak with the management and explain that we indeed did a thorough sweep of the apartment before we left, they not only were slow to respond (i'm talking 6 months would go by before we heard back), they were unable to actually provide pictures or details of what this charge was for. My husband and I stood our ground, because it was not about the money, it was about the principle behind being well-informed as to why and for what we were being charged. Once again, months would go by without a response. We received one e-mail response saying it was for cleaning, and that they were not sure what the specifics were and had no pictures. FYI, if you know how to manage real estate properties, THIS IS NOT OKAY. A few months later... BOOM, we see our credit scores go down due to a claim by none other than our friends at 2201 Wilson. So instead of communicating with two cooperative professionals about the issue, they decide to go after us in the most immature way possible. Shame on you an good luck if this is the way you decide to conduct your business. Please think twice about renting here. They are nothing less but belittling, unprofessional and immature when it comes to their tenants.
Great apartment right next to the Courthouse Metro stop. It is within walking distance to many restaurants and bars in the Clarendon area and if those are not enough it is just a short Metro trip into DC. The apartments themselves are nice and have recently been renovated. The apartment is very expensive (inline with most in the area) and parking in the underground garage can be tight at times (though I have never had trouble finding a spot).
