(The whole house with a similar layout daylight basement may be available, by special request.) Check out all the 5-STAR REVIEWS! This a 'VRBO Premier-Partner' home. Our 'Mt-AdamsView' home is located inside Hood River town close to Jackson Park, the Swim/Tennis Center, and grocery store. It has a fresh, beautiful 2019 open-concept remodel for a modern mountain cabin feel. From the living room, master bedroom and balcony there is a 140 degree view of the other side of the Columbia River Gorge, with a full view of glacier-capped Mt. Adams, plus a rare garage for storing your outdoor gear... you get panoramic views, off-street parking, central A/C and secure garage storage that you just don’t get at most other 2 bdrm places in town. Lots of people choose our place for their 2nd stay after experiencing the I-84 freeway/freight-trains/party-noise endemic to closer-downtown/adjacent rentals. Our place just 4 minutes drive from downtown is so much more peaceful. While you’re sipping your morning coffee on the balcony, you can also see the river in front of the Event-Site to check out wind and wave conditions before you go sailing or kite-boarding, or contemplate a day of amazing hiking, mt-biking or wine-touring. The house is sited on the edge of a small bluff so the neighboring houses and trees are below your gorge view sight lines - which also provides great privacy. From the entry, the open concept kitchen with breakfast bar for 4 chairs is immediately to the right, with dining area adjoining. All stainless steel appliances: gas range with convection-oven, microwave, butcher-block countertops, and breakfast bar, black-granite sink, large bottom-freezer refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, coffee-maker, etc. Lots of counter space. Stocked with basic condiments, spices, ample pots & pans, dishes, glasses, etc. From the dining table, there is even a partial view of the steep, rugged north face of Mt. Hood, (which completes the rare 'Hood River two-mountain view'). Further past the entry, to your right is the large gorge-facing, open concept living room with a comfortable, large, sectional sofa - with a great view of the Gorge and glacier-clad Mt. Adams, with cable TV and Roku. A sliding glass door opens onto the 32 x 8 ft. cedar balcony with a solid railing for privacy and child-safety. The balcony has a dining table for 6, plus comfy lounge chairs/ottoman, and a Weber gas grill. The large north-facing balcony has welcome shade on hot summer days and is sheltered from much of the world-renowned Gorge summer winds. From the entry, turn left to the remodeled bathroom with double-sinks and large shower. The bedrooms are carpeted while the rest of the house has highland oak flooring. Also down the hall to the left of the entry is the large master bedroom (12 x 16 ft) which has the same special view of the gorge/Mt. Adams - what an inspiring sight to wake up to! The second bedroom is nearly as large (without gorge view). Both bedrooms have ultra-comfortable foam-mattress/pillow-top King beds with quality linens, large double-closets, plus a chest of drawers. The optional 3rd bed is a comfortable, queen-size AeroBed with built-in pump that inflates in 3 minutes. It’s more comfortable than most sleeper-sofas. The 2-car garage has one bay available to you for storing your vehicle and/or drying/storing your outdoor gear. The trees in the front yard offer some shade for driveway parking. Fits 2 cars in your half of the semi-circle driveway + 1 in garage, plus always ample on-street parking. The home has a 2020, premium, central gas-heat + air conditioner system with electrostatic-filter + HEPA/MERV-14 + a powerful UV-light air disinfectant unit. It features a separate thermostat and ducting for your unit. Plus modern electrical and plumbing. Solar panels on the roof provide renewable energy. We have an external-door camera (only) to let us know when packages arrive, or to check on weather when we're gone, and for general security - though Hood River is a very safe town. For your privacy, there are no cameras/microphones anywhere inside or on the balcony. Regards the daylight basement floor unit, we're often traveling or visiting different grandkids families. Even if we're there, we have good acoustic-insulation between levels, and independent thermostats/ducting so no concern about noise either direction, and we have a separate entrance/driveway. The stairway between levels is secured by a dead-bolted solid-core door with a 6" thick acoustic-insulated panel over it. Just a 5 minute walk is the large aquatic center pools, tennis courts, softball field, school soccer field, and Jackson Park’s amphitheater with free summer weekend entertainment. The grocery store closest to the house and to downtown is a 3-minute drive down the hill. The start of downtown is about a dozen blocks to the east - a pleasant walk or a 4-minute drive or a quick bike, to Hood River’s great pubs, shopping, galleries, fine cuisine, sushi, pizza, ice cream, theaters, wine-tasting, bike shops, wind-sport shops and coffee shops. The house is also close to the Heights neighborhood with even more options for restaurants, shops, and the other grocery store. Of course, there are numerous options to enjoy Hood River’s world-famous windsurfing and kite-boarding sites (Event-Site, The Marina, and the large Hood River sand spit - great for launching kites) is a ~7-8 minute drive. Very nearby are best-of-the-region wineries, within 2 miles at Cathedral Ridge (great reds and whites) or Marchesi (sumptuous Italian style wines); Also a short bike ride to the west is the Post Canyon trails complex with some of the best single-track and free-riding trails on the west coast (70+ miles of trails, optional stunts). Closer to Mt. Hood or across the Columbia river are many dozens of awesome hiking/waterfall and mt-bike trails. A Gorge hiking guidebook and maps are supplied. Mt. Hood Meadows, the largest ski resort, is about 40 minutes south. A bit further, the classic Timberline Lodge even offers summer skiing higher up! Family-friendly Cooper Spur ski area is the closest, on this side of Mt. Hood. Trails for hiking, XC skiing or snow-shoeing are within 15-40 minutes drive depending on winter snow level. There are numerous scenic routes for road biking right from the house. Exciting white-water rafting services, and kayaking is available on the White Salmon, Klickitat, and Deschutes rivers. See Zollers Outdoor Odyssey, 'zooraft' is their site name, for the very best rafting outfit - get reservations ahead of time!
