Property Ratings at 25 East
This is the worst place to live near campus. Apart from the property and units being disgusting and overpriced, you also have to deal with rude students as staff that appear to have little to no professional training. Be sure to get everything in writing if you choose to rent here.
I moved here because the bus is convenient and it’s the cheapest rent I could find. They have a pool, a gym, do events, and their show apartment looks nice. However, actually living here is awful. Upon move in absolutely nothing in the apartment had been cleaned and there was mold under the sink and behind the toilet. Both our washer and our dryer are broken and our toilet has been leaking since move in. We have put in numerous maintenance requests and a MONTH later our toilet has finally been fixed. We still don’t have a functional washer or dryer. We’ve emailed the property manager, the leasing office, and the property company and have received ZERO communication back. Please, just pay a bit more and live somewhere that actually cares.
The day my daughter moved in, the apartment was filthy and had zero maintenance since the prior tenants moved out. The table and chairs were broken, and there were still personal bathroom items remaining from former tenants. So, from the very first day, they were in breach of their leasing agreement. They pulled a crew together quickly to at least bring the apartment to a less disgusting standard and my daughter moved in. Oh, and the first “month’s” rent is basically them charging for an entire month when my daughter was only there a week of that month. So, while they “waive” fees and advertise a monthly payment, it is all just a ruse … they get it by charging the tenants for 3 weeks that they don’t even live there. While the manager was nice, she could not speak to specifics of the lease and I heard a lot of “well I know it says that, but that is not what we do.” Crazy. So many consumer protection issues … but that will be for another day. Now, my daughter, who is a student at MSU, has been without internet for 2 days. I can’t get anyone to answer the phone to discuss yet another breach on their end of the lease agreement. All I will say is that you get what you pay for …. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Their inability to have internet now places my daughter in a position where she has to be on campus to do school work she should have been able to do at the apartment, and ride the bus back to her apartment after dark. Also, don’t count on being able to reach anyone by cell phone while they live at 25 East … cell reception is bad .. . I genuinely fear for her safety at this place — particularly when they removed the security lock from the door of her building so that anyone can get in. The apartment that they show you is not at all what you get. I could go on and on ….
Apartment stuff here are the nicest people that I know. They are always here to support and help you with problems. Apartments are not expensive as well, and weekly activities are interesting too

It's a great place to live! The pool is a perfect addition in the summer when warm weather hits. Highly recommend!
I am currently in my second year living at 25 East, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I feel so blessed and lucky to have been able to have this positive of a living experience while in college. By far the best and most affordable off campus housing for MSU!

They have a really nice pool and the staff is always so helpful and nice! Definitely recommend.
I have had a great year living here, I love my apartment and all the amenities here! I did have an issue with one of the members of management who tried to cheat me out of free utilities which I signed in reliance of this benefit. Luckily, after much arguing and an exhausting amount of emails, it was finally enforced. Otherwise, this place has been great!
25 East has been great! There are some issues with getting things repaired in a timely manner (but it's also a pretty big complex). Front staff is always super kind and the pool/gym are really nice. Have lived here for two years and would continue living here if I wasn't moving!
This was a great first apartment and have met such amazing neighbors! Definitely worth the price given the distance but was such a great option during the pandemic.
Tale of the Mailbox: The management at 25 East is horrendous. When I first got my apartment there, they gave us a mail key that did not work for our mail box. No big deal, they'll fix it. I send a report in and they say it was fixed. Same problem. The key does not work with the mailbox! This was re-addressed at least 4 times. They keep replacing the mailbox with the wrong lock for the key!!! At a certain point, we just left our mailbox open so we can at least access it, but we were threatened with a fine of 100 dollars when the mail from our mailbox would fall into the doorway because the mailman didn't care that much. Tale of the broken door: When first moving into the apartment, we noted problems with the rooms so they can be addressed and fixed if need be. I noted holes in the room walls, strange stains in the carpet, and a sticky door knob that felt like it could break at any point. The floors were replaced during remodeling, but nothing else was fixed. Eventually, the door broke locking me inside my room due to the metal pieces of the door knob jamming the doorway. I was stuck for hours (this was after the office closed), and we even removed the door knob from the door (properly with a screwdriver) and couldn't get it open. Eventually we got permission to kick it down. My door was NEVER FIXED. I requested it fixed multiple times and nothing came of it. I turned in the door knob to the front desk and everything. Due to my door not being fixed, while I was gone for the Summer, a subleaser moved his stuff into my room. When I got back from my Summer course in Utah, it was full of random crap. I talked to the front desk regarding the issue, and they said it was the fault of 25 East because (we never fixed the door, so I suppose you couldn't keep them out of your room if you tried). 25 East fined me 380 dollars for the door being broken, trash in the rooms (subleasers), and the door knob being missing (I turned it into the front desk). When I tried to appeal the charges, I never received a response.

We regret learning that you had a negative experience while you were a resident with us. Although we did encounter some issues with the mailbox, our records show it was fixed. In addition, we also have new management and new maintenance, so please know any issues residents encounter are taken care of as soon as possible, as we are committed to providing a quality living experience. Concerning the damage charges, our policy is to have disputes submitted in writing and we couldn’t locate your complaint in our records. We encourage you to come by our office, or contact us by phone, so we can discuss your concerns. We look forward to speaking with you!Best,25 East Management
I would totally recommend living here if you are looking for the whole package at a great price! Everything is included in your monthly rent besides electricity, and not to mention the apartments are furnished! You cannot beat that! Also the leases are individual so if your roommate isn't paying, you won't get penalized. What is even better is that the leasing and maintenance staff are AMAZING! They respond and resolve problems quick and they are friendly!
