Located about two miles from Historic Downtown Jersey City and ten miles from Manhattan, Journal Square is a centrally-located commercial and residential neighborhood that keeps on growing. Access to major highways and the PATH train as well as lower rent prices continue to attract residents from Manhattan and Brooklyn. Apartments in Journal Square are found in great pre-war buildings, walk-ups, and private houses.
If you choose to rent in Journal Square, you will have the chance to catch a performance at the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre, take Fido to run around at Hamilton Park, peruse the shops at Newport Centre, and visit Liberty State Park to savor waterfront views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island.

Property Ratings at 25 Senate Place
Absolutely love living at Senate Place. It's a relatively quiet corner of JSQ right next to a very well cared for park and also walkable to the PATH for an easy commute to Manhattan (the free shuttle is also great). The amenities are amazing and we love how pet friendly the spaces are because we have both a dog and cat. The veterinary office and coffee shop in the building are 10/10 and the Senate place management and staff are 15/10. We recently completed a unit transfer within the building and they made everything completely seamless. Both units we've lived in are spacious, and comfortable with really nice layouts. We plan to be here for many years to come!
5 stars from somebody who lived there for more than 5 years!!! Great value for the price: Extremely friendly staff, clean building, fairly good amenities like gym, community hall, a game room with table tennis, dart and billiards. Management is very cooperative. On-site superintendent comes in very handy if anything breaks. Really great residents from all background. Right by the part which is great for a stroll. Very conveniently located from NYC. Shuttle service is super helpful. Overall, would highly recommend this place to anyone looking around that area.
WORST MANAGEMENT OFFICE EVER!!! When there's pest issue, ant communities, management office just said they were NOT responsible for that. When the neighbor made noise and bother others, the management office did NOT do anything to help. When moving out, the management DID their best to charge everything they can, which are mostly recognized as normal tear and wear by other apartments.
Cheap paint on walls lets them steal your deposit by over charging you . Honestly i think its only a primer, not even paint. Paper thin walls lets you hear everything your neighbors do, i can even hear people walk in the halls as i lay in bed. Cheap cabinets cheap doors, we once had to sleep with the rooftop patio door open because the trimming on the door frame was so cheap it wouldn't close, it was about 10 degrees F outside, we let maintenance know but they couldn't get to it until tomorrow. Dishwasher is super loud, i don't run it while I'm home, ill leave it running as i leave for work. Iv only been here ten months ( i do plan on moving once my lease is up) and in those ten months parking has gone up in price twice. For claiming luxury, everything in this apartment is built cheap using cheap parts. Save your money, rent somewhere else.
Hey this place is great! So new, clean, the shared spaces are fantastic, staff courteous, management easy to work with, all around good choice. Prices are cheaper than living downtown Jersey City and this area is really growing. Steps from Mana contemporary which is an amazing museum!
This is worst place while moving out. Hidden charges and unethical place. The staff is rude and not really a healthy place for family folks. The staff keeps flirting with all the women in the community and the cheap crowd overall. Put some more money and rent a place in Newport.
Shuttle service is not great, they need another shuttle- pretty easy request considering they are often full or too long of a wait. Paying rent is a pain. They need a drop off box for rent/parking in the lobby, pretty simple ask. Gym could use some TVs (like every other gym), bigger water cups, and be cleaned more often. Gym needs love! A rowing machine would be great as well. Nice place, but management needs to try a little harder to bring it to being "luxury".
The building is great, but when you sign up the lease, they have slapped a number of charges for which they will charge when leaving the building. Other leasing buildings dont make these type of charges. The walls and ceilings are not well insulated, so you can hear everything from the walls, and from the ceilings. The building is as huge as a street block. They charge convenience fee for paying rent online, which they did not disclose before. There is only 1 trash chute in the entire building. So, one has to walk a long way just to throw trash. And only 2 elevators. Its a poor design given how much one has to carry stuff around to get to the apartments. Not enough exit doors.
