The Story Block was built by James Story in 1876. James Story was a successful merchant of dried good, groceries, boots and hats in Cuba, NY. He erected this three-building (or Block) as a statement of his prominence in the community. He had his residence on the 3rd floor where he celebrated his 90th birthday in1910. Charles Ingalls, father of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of the popular ” The Little House in the Prairie” books, was born on a farm in the North Cuba area.
