Central West End’s European vibe is on display everywhere you look, from the classic architecture and layout to the charming parks and gardens to the open-air cafes and bistros that line the streets. The most dominant landmark is the sprawling Forest Park with its trails, sports facilities, lush greenery, and famous zoo – it’s a perfect community backyard for the families and urban professionals who call CWE home. The neighborhood’s elaborate Halloween celebrations and Labor Day Greek Festival are immensely popular, drawing people from all over the city. Art galleries and performance venues are popular draws as well, and the neighborhood enjoys a healthy yet subdued nightlife scene.
While located at the heart of one of the region’s biggest cities, Central West End is mostly residential, with most of the landscape filled with single-family homes. Apartments tend to be very affordable, and rental houses tend to be quite reasonable as well.

Property Ratings at 275 on the Park
just inexplicable to me why this property is run the way it is !!! no accountability and a dearth of empathy I have a list of 12 different times that if the person in charge would have just said ok this is what i can do then i wouldnt have to write this review the turnover in lease agents is unbelievable one that was phenomenal and now gone like all the others whoever owns this property needs to wake up and smell the roses awesome location, great potential, whoever is actually in charge i would be more than happy to discuss this tragedy in person otherwise in 7 months im out of here
We experienced a burglary in this building. There is no security, allowing anyone to enter the building at any time. The building lacks amenities and has continuous maintenance issues. The elevators frequently malfunction, the AC is unreliable, and the building and garage flood every time it rains. The list goes on and on. It's best to look for another place.
Unsure why laundry is listed as an amenity?? As of now residents laundry options r to use a (creepy) trailer in the parking lot that is full of broken washers or pay $30 per load of laundry to an offsite laundry service. This place is so mismanaged, in the last month I have been locked out of the building late at night because their app was down and was given an eviction notice (along with every other resident) because they screwed up their billing dates. I am not picky, but this place is a joke.
After living here for a year I will not be renewing my lease. There is constantly issues with the elevators, you do not have temperature control, it's a game of roulette if you will have hot water in the shower, and best of all the laundry situation is unbelievably comical as it is a trailer in the side alley full of machines (half of which are broken and unmaintenced. This comes on the promise that the in building laundry room would be fixed (no work has been done). The staff treats you like a second class citizen as they are so busy with their days (they sit on tik tok and FaceTime their friends). The listed prices on here are not indicative of what you will sign for as "it moves on a market" even though most units are empty. For some reason they decided to begin construction on the courtyard as an opposed to fixing the laundry situation first, which has had zero progress in the past months leaving the majority of listed amenities unavailable. It is a gorgeous building but the looks don't make up for the functionality. My neighbors have had a rat problem and I've dealt with fruit flies in the summer regardless of me keeping my space clean.

Thank you for reaching out. We regret to hear your frustrations regarding our amenities and current community projects. Our team strives to provide our residents with homes they can be proud of and, to that end, we are always looking for ways to achieve that. At your earliest opportunity, please stop by the office to speak with our staff in person. We appreciate the chance to answer your questions and concerns.
My roommate and I lived here for six months and it was nothing but chaos. We were told that the front elevator would be working in a few weeks. It took them six months. We were also told that the gym would be able by the end of June 2023 and again six months and nothing has been done. They tell us we can walk two blocks to the gym near by. That’s a danger as we live in the city. Cars are constantly broken into even in the parking lot. They have had a laundry facility truck parked the whole time we’ve lived there. Every month we have to contact management to get out billing ledger updated. They constantly try to tack on things thinking we will just pay them. Management is a joke. They never reply. We have been trying to get our ledger updated for almost a month and no one does anything. They charge $25 a month for maintenance who takes a month and a half to fill the orders. Just rent somewhere else I promise you’ll be happier.
This is the worst apartment experience I have ever had. Constant construction led me to have way too many early mornings. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything happening in the halls. The building is so old which caused my ceiling to collapse due to water damage on two separate occasions. They tried to fix this by moving me into a new updated unit, but the problem was someone else had already been approved to move into this new unit. I only found out about this when I called the internet people and they said that I couldnt register with that apartment because someone else already had. This led to me having to sign a new lease a day before my move in. no matter how clean you keep your apartment, there will be cockroaches and they will not go away. The base rent may seem like less but they make up their money through various fees that will be more than you think you will pay. I had no access to the gym while I was there due to construction. The laundry room flooded while I was living there and they spent no time trying to repair it. Instead it took them months to find a solution. They decided to put a washing machine truck in the alley. They played it off by saying enjoy the free laundry, but we had to walk a few blocks every time I wanted to laundry. This was acceptable until the winter when all the water froze and I could once again not do laundry for months. The maintenance is slow because they have wayyy too much work to do. The management is also super slow and does not stay in contact with the residents. I was blocked in the garage several times due to unannounced deliveries that caused me to miss class. Not to mention the shootout that happened in the building. Fortunately, I was in class at the time and not nearby, but the lack of communication was absolutely horrible. I found out there had been a shootout in my building from the news and my parents before I had heard from the people who run the building. I am not sure how anyone could justify that experience. I know that the price may look appealing, but it is not worth the distress that living here will cause you. live anywhere else
Title: Charming, But Disappointing: A Review of 275 On The Park Rating: ????? I've been a 275 On The Park resident for several months, and the experience has been rather underwhelming. Despite its historic charm, numerous issues have persisted with no resolution, making it difficult to recommend this place as a comfortable and secure living environment. **Pros:** - Historic Charm: The building has a certain old-world charm that's hard to come by in modern apartment complexes. The architecture and design elements are a nod to a bygone era. **Cons:** - Broken Elevator: The most pressing issue is the broken elevator, which has remained inoperative for months. This poses a significant inconvenience, especially for residents on higher floors and those with mobility challenges. - Lack of Amenities: The absence of a gym and courtyard is a major drawback. In this day and age, these amenities are practically standard in apartment buildings, and their absence is keenly felt. - Security Concerns: Security is a significant concern at 275 On The Park. The entryways are unsecured, leaving residents vulnerable to potential security risks. The unsecured garage only compounds this issue, making it hard to trust that our vehicles are safe. - Unresponsive Management: Communication with the management has been a frustrating experience. They seem disinterested in addressing residents' concerns and have not provided any updates on the broken elevator or the security issues. - Unresponsive Maintenance: The maintenance staff is unresponsive, like the management. Requests for repairs or upkeep are often ignored or severely delayed, leaving residents to deal with unresolved issues for extended periods. - Laundry Facilities: The laundry situation is far from ideal, with a laundry trailer in the parking lot. This setup is inconvenient and unattractive, especially during inclement weather. While 275 On The Park may initially attract tenants with its historic charm, it falls short in providing essential amenities and maintaining security. These concerns are addressed before it's easier to recommend 275 On The Park as a comfortable and secure living option.
I have lived here for 6 months and when I tell you they lie about everything I’m not kidding. They said the gym would be done in June of 2023, it’s now November and still not done. The front elevator of my building they said upon move in it would be down for 6 weeks, again been 6 months still not fixed and no word on when it will be. These are things I should’ve been disclosed to before signing the lease. Also bring a home inspector if you can to the showing of your apartment, my unit needs all new windows and leak so bad it affected my electric bill and again if I would’ve known before I wouldn’t have signed.
This is the worst place I have ever lived these past few years. Management turn over is ridiculous and barely last a year, and they are now on their third renovation since I first moved in. They charge for amenities they don't have, and lie about utilities charges to cover their own mistakes. Myself and a few other residents are going to the Attorney General offices to take back our money. The maintenance crew is amazing though and truly the heart of this place, become friends with them and they will treat you well.
I moved here in August and there have been constant issues. There were Roaches in my apartment when I first moved in and I still see them sometimes. Pest control came and told me to put in a work order to have more intensive treatment and that request was never acknowledged. The laundry room flooded in late August/September and probably 3 weeks later they provided a trailer in the parking lot to do laundry. Great temporary solution but it’s February and no progress has been made that the residents have been made aware of. Also, it’s not great anymore as the truck constantly leaks and half or more of the washers are broken. The heat broke during a really cold day and residents were supposed to make do for probably 2 days minimum with freezing temperatures. The solution is a “temporary” boiler that’s still in use months later. There is construction throughout the building and I’ve been woken up many times at 7:30-9 am to loud drilling even on Saturday. This has also been going on for months. I would not recommend someone move here at all. The pool is hardly maintained, water dried up and it wasn’t refilled so I doubt the chemicals were maintained ahead of that time. The mailroom is a disaster. Ive had packages stolen and every time I go in there to pick up something or check the mail, opened packages are laying around. This is not an exaggeration. I love the look of my apartment and the staff are really nice people but the issues continue. Maybe in the future when construction is done itll be a nice spot but not right now. The location is truly its only saving grace.
I spent MONTHS trying to get management to repair my broken AC. Management doesn't even pretend to care and has even threatened to fine us if we don't stop filling work requests. Each time I talk to them they gave me a different excuse. I have lived here for over a year and my ac only worked for the first month or 2. I have completely given up hope that they will ever fix the issue

This place is my worst nightmare. Stay away… the management is the worst team I have ever seen. They can’t ever answer the phone or emails. All the want is your money. Oh also lots of roaches.

NEW Do not move here! There are far better options out their. There are always issues and repairs needing to be done to this apartment and yet they cover it up with ice cream socials and free food trucks. No amount of food and socials can distract me from a hole and mold on my kitchen wall, My water being shut off 4 to 5 times a month for 8 hours A-day, the elevator constantly being broken down knowing that we stay in a high rise and there are people with disabilities that rely on the elevator . Let's not forget parking and how there is limited space but you're quick to write people a ticket, and also let's not overlook that the entire property smells like a sewage tank and has dog everywhere . For a company that is quick to tell you that they have excellent customer service.. That is a lie, Because no one will answer the phone and no 1 will respond to emails. But they are so quick to beat your door down With the late rent notice.. I'm still waiting on someone to reply to my email in regards to the fact that I was only supposed to be out of my apartment for 2 days and that turned into 3 weeks Because the maintenance team Doesn't know what they're doing and yet you don't want to reimburse me for that rent for the days that I was not able to live in the place I PAY RENT. but you want to send out a email social for ice cream. I'm here for one more year while my partner and I are house hunting because we're getting ready to buy but please look else where if you can. The 2.6 rating that this apartment has is accurate.

Multiple maintenance issues, roaches, sewer backing up into the abandon retail space, no a/c in lobby, yet there was last year, water leaks, no response to maintenance work orders or they get marked as complete yet are not.
Whatever you do, please look elsewhere. Roaches, washers that flood into the hallway, window units, dead fruit flies stuck onto the baseboards, and not to mention just how disgusting some of the random rooms and stairwells are. They are increasing rent but not increasing quality, and our floor in particular hasn’t had working washers for months. They drilled the washer/dryer room door shut with no explanation (it’s because it continuously floods into the hallway) and they said HVAC would take care of it… but nope. Don’t fall into the trap of optimism and promises for renovation, you will just be miserable like I am.
There’s too many things wrong with this place but I’m going to try to fit in as much as possible. MASSIVE roach infestation, TONS of fruit flys, broken washers since fall 2021, broken elevators, flooded and moldy hallways, terrible pool and gym, no A/C, and ignorant management to top it off. MOVE ANYWHERE ELSE
Under new management that seems to be better which is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of. Every building in the property is cockroach infested… even the new seemingly “nice” Annex Building. I overheard a worker saying the problem is so bad the only way to fix it was to tear down the buildings… old management was the worst I had ever seen. Unified seems to be better but still not what id hope for a infested property. Just avoid this place
After 2 months of notifying management of roaches, they are still not taken care of. The property manager told multiple residents to “stop emailing” her. The second you sign your lease, they stop answering emails and phone calls. Whatever you do, DO NOT move here. Spend a little extra to get a habitable place to live.
If I could give this 0 stars I would. The management is nothing but a joke- rude, unresponsive and do not care about you the second you give them a check. Also, the property is infested with cockroaches.. so unless you want to deal with cockroaches and management that simply don’t care… Do not live here!!!
If you live on the top floor, be prepared to have your windows open throughout the winter. They over heat the building so much it can get to 85 degrees when you don't even turn your heater on in your apartment. Slightly overpriced for how just ok everything is.

This building is absolutely gorgeous, my apartment was amazing, and every single thing here was in a state of utter disrepair. I lived here for one year, and in that time I had water damage in my walls/ceiling 4 separate times, broken air conditioning for 3 months (in the summertime), and then broken heat in March/April. Maintenance was either extremely disorganized or extremely understaffed, because I made multiple requests that were never fulfilled. Once, my apartment was even ENTERED by maintenance while I was not home with no warning whatsoever, multiple months after I had submitted a request. Cannot recommend at all, which is so unfortunate considering how beautiful the apartments and grounds are.
I moved here in Feb 2019. It's been fun living in this building. I'll definitely will miss this place. The roof top open space is good with amazing view. The events they have every month is fun. The Park, zoo, Museum and all the party places are close by. The gym is amazing and so is the pool. Friendly staff. They helped me a lot when I first moved in. Overall my experience living here was amazing and I would definitely recommend anyone looking for an apartment to consider living here :)
I’ve lived here since 2017 and went through hell. When I first moved in there was constant turneover, terrible maintenance and the “vintage charm” took a lot of work to make it livable. Since the new 275 management took over it went from cheap rent to a luxury apartment. Absolutely love the upgrades. Like your own amazon locker in your building—so convenient. The location and view you cannot match. I feel super safe coming in and out as a younger single woman that often works late. I absolutely love the staff I feel like they treat me like family! They go above and beyond to make it happen big to small especially compared to the nightmare of yesteryear. It was well worth sticking around. If I were still looking, I’d grab this place now before renovations are complete and the rent is impossible to afford. From a tenant who could not wait to break her lease to one that’s bummed she’s relocating to the east coast.
The staff is professional, friendly, and helpful (no real turnover). New ownership have made great improvements by reinvesting in the property and staff. Download their app to pay rent and utilities or to request maintenance (might be necessary to follow with a phone call, especially if it's urgent). Maintenance is a good, solid team too. These beautiful historical buildings have a lot of charm but can keep them busy at times. Neighbors and fellow renters are easy-going people. Centrally located and right next to Forest Park with a gym and pool.
WORST renting experience ever!!! Be careful, you might NEVER get your deposit back!! I think the last management left in a rush and they were just trying to take as much money as they can. It's been almost a year since I moved out and I still don't get my deposit back. 1. The management took ALL my deposit when I returned my apartment in a good shape. NO ITEMIZED LIST WAS RECEIVED after I moved out, it took me 8 MONTHS to get the list. When I finally got the list, it was nothing but all RIDICULOUS charges. 2. They ridiculously charged me $600 for a stove replacement for no reason. The stove was working perfectly when I left. 3. Charged me ONE MONTH RENT for no reason, I paid ALL my rent. The manager Charity was impossible to communicate with, she would never get back to you. 4. Maintenance takes forever and in most cases they never show up. I lived in the modern building, the apartment itself was good. But with the money I paid ($1,050/month) I would rather rent somewhere else with NICER STAFF. DON EVER RENT THIS PLACE!!!

I am sorry to hear that you have not received your deposit back from the previous ownership. We have only managed the property since late April of 2018, but would be happy to provide you with the information of the previous owners rep so you can contact them about your refund. If you would like that information, please contact the leasing office.
If you’re looking for a bait-and-switch, this is your opportunity. Proceed with caution! The cafe, on the other hand, is absolutely delightful.

I've lived in CWE City Apartments for 2 years. I have resisted writing a negative review for a long time, and never wanted to write one. All I wanted were the issues addressed, and it seems the only way to get a response from ANYONE is through a negative review. New management is even worse than the previous managers. Here are a list of the issues and the time it took to resolve (some are still unresolved, and all they do is avoid talking about it or blame it on the "contractors") 1) Alarm blaring in main entrance of building. This has to be against some type of building code. It sounded like people should evacuate the building. The alarm was blaring for over 3 weeks before they came to fix it! There are over 100 residents in the building! I can tell you that if this alarm was blaring in the renting office, it would have been fixed immediately, but once you sign a lease, THEY HAVE GOT YOU NOW! (I have pictures/video of the incident, along with hand-made signs on the main door from residents after the alarm was blaring for over a week!) 2) Handle on trash door on floor no longer unlatched, so trash had to be carried down flights of stairs and across the parking lot to take out. Time to fix: 3 MONTHS! 3) "OPEN DOOR POLICY" - The apt. manager is impossible to get ahold of. I went to talk to the manager the other day, and asked to speak to management. I was asked "What is this about?". I said, I would just like to talk to her about some issues I was having, and she said that she has an "open-door policy". Concierge says "Oh, did she??". *Concierge walks to back hallway and returns shortly*. Concierge: "She's 'in a meeting'". Me: "When will the meeting be done you think?". Concierge *throws up hands* 4) Broken lock on side door to the modern building - The lock on the side door, near all the resident parking, has been broken for 4 months. The door no longer unlocks when you try to scan in. There is no other entrance except on the opposite side of the building, and if you are moving out, you cannot enter that door to get to the freight elevator. I have spoken to management, maintenance, concierge, etc. and they all say "The contractors are working on it". or "I think they are going to get new key fobs in the next 2 years.." 5) Charging you for package deliveries! - You are allotted 1 package per week per the leasing agreement; After that it is $5, and if you don't pick up your package in 3 days, they say they will return to sender!

The only good thing about this apartment complex was its' location. From the first day I moved in, there were maintenance issues that I requested, on multiple occasions, to be addressed and that never were (paint chipping and water damage from rain, broken window, lose mailbox closure, lightbulb replacements, etc). During the second visit from the maintenance staff for a fuse that was blown in my kitchen on their behalf, one member lost the service copy of my apartment key down the elevator shaft and I had to come home for them to lock and access my apartment. During the same service, I discovered that my toilet sit was left lifted and that a member's lunchbox was on my office desk. During another service visit, a screwdriver was left in my windowsill and never retrieved. I was also once trapped in one of the elevators for an hour. This building does not have individualized meters for electricity, so be prepared to pay more than you should for utility bills. I was not informed about this prior to moving in, and unfortunately discovered this the hard way. Each unit pays a portion of the entire building's bill, regardless of their actual energy consumption. As a college student who spends a majority of time on campus or sleeping, I was not prepared to pay upwards of $120 each month for utilities, NOT including internet. I moved out last month at the end of my lease and was shocked and disappointed to find that the service elevator AND one of the main elevators were out of use. Being on the fifth floor of the building, my dad and I had no other option but to cram as much as we could in a few trips as possible into the only working elevator, which was as much as an inconvenience for us as I'm sure it was for everyone else. For whatever reason, the leasing office must have had a higher than usual flow of clients the day I went to turn in my keys, because I was asked to put them in an envelope and provide my forwarding address for paperwork, rather than to go over the paperwork in person then and there. A month has passed and I have yet to receive said paperwork. I have called every week since I moved out, and twice a week this week, being told each time that someone will get back to me. While disappointed, I am not surprised with the disorganization and untrustworthy management.

1) The assistant property manager missed our first meeting to tour the apartment with no explanation. 2) I had to pursue the assistant property manager to get my lease and sign it (We needed a place by the end of the month) 3) Management rarely, if ever returned emails or calls without multiple follow ups. Toward the end, I would have to knock on the door of their office to get answers--if they were in there. 4) For the year we lived there, all three of the elevators were operational at the same time for about a month. One of them was being updated (about a 5 month process?) at all times. Very often, one of the other two elevators was broken, if not all of them--in a 17-story building. 5) I was trapped in one of these elevators for about an hour one day on my way home from work. It rose past my floor and then stopped. The call box in the elevator was broken so I had to call the concierge from my cell, which hardly had service. Upon regaining my freedom, I did not receive a call, text, email, note or anything apologizing for the extreme and possibly dangerous inconvenience. 6) Sidewalks were not shoveled until most of the snow had melted. My wife and I nearly slipped a number of times. 7) They bent the rules to get us into the apartment as soon as we could pay, but made us pay till the end of the month after we left because we did not alert them we were moving before the 60 day limit. We moved because I gained a new job and moved to be closer to it--which the contract said meant that I didn't have to pay the extra month. 8) Concierge desk was woefully understaffed. Often had to wait an extra day or two in order to receive packages because 2 of the people who worked at the desk quit or were fired at the same time leaving it unstaffed for a while. 9) Water was shut off to the building about 4 times in our year there. After one of the shut offs, water stains appeared on our dining room wall. 10) Long wait time on maintenance requests. 11) The city does not even recognize the address 275 Union Blvd as being in the Central West End neighborhood--it's Debaliviere Place. 12) It took about 3 months to get my deposit back. I received it back in full which is the only reason that I would give this business a star in the first place. Overall, this business is poorly mismanaged, over-priced, and not worth the hassle.
Whatever you do, do not move here. The management is awful. Every single person I talk to about any concern gives me a different response. I feel bad for the people who work the front desk because they probably get no direction from management. They are extremely unorganized. The air has been out for 4 days now. They say they are coming around with air units but we will see. I never get my hopes up with this place. At one point they told us we could only have one package a week delivered to the apartment or they would charge a fee. Also, they claim to have a resort pool with a jacuzzi. That is laughable. The water is disgusting and the pool isn't even open right now with no explanation. The washing machines and dryers are constantly on the fritz. They rarely communicate effectively. They change management constantly and never have any set plan for how they deal with issues or concerns. Then they act like you are crazy when you are confused. I could go on for pages but I'll stop. Find somewhere else to live because you will regret moving here.
i scheduled a showing for some of the studios and 1 bedrooms and the woman on the phone was very helpful - making appointments, giving me details on the place and everything. but when I walked in to the leasing office, the people there had no idea about the appointment, said they didn't know who was making appointments (but still had my appt on file), and then told me that they had to go to a training meeting. and they were very apathetic to it all. the woman behind the desk barely looked up, said hello or mumbled more than 1 word at a time. they said they left a message to reschedule but i never got a call. literally a 5 minute interaction but it was terrible. management was horrible
Worst management that ever existed. - Apartment wasn't clean when I moved in and I was the first occupant. It was so filthy I couldn't put my stuff in it until they cleaned it. Then when they did clean it, they did a terrible job and refused to fix any of the damages (that somehow occurred with no one living there). - New people work here every other week so NO ONE knows anything. When I put in work requests, months go by and I eventually just stop asking. I didn't have blinds that fit my window for 4 months. No one replies to emails; it's impossible to get ahold of the manager. I didn't get apartment-wide emails for the first YEAR of living here and never knew about important events like when water was being turned off. - Concierge service is non-existent and I am never able to pick up packages because their "after-hours" hours are so infrequent. Even when they are supposedly open, usually no one is at the desk. I once had four large boxes sent to me and the concierge denied that they had arrived for THREE weeks; I even asked if they would double check and one person point blank refused to look even though I had confirmation of their arrival and everything. I don't know where you even hide four large boxes, but little things like refusing to just humor a resident and check again are unacceptable. - They don't have the amenities they claim to. Pool was green all last summer and the public wifi was down for months. - I've been lied to, ignored, and accused of not paying my rent on time despite never having missed a single rent. Last year, they raised my rent on THE day I signed my renewal lease despite confirming before the 60-day renewal window that it would remain the same. I have never seen such dishonest behavior. - I really hope this saves someone the time, effort, and patience I've wasted on this place so they can use it on something more useful. There are many places with comparable amenities to consider that are less money, so keep doing your research if you can help it! Pros (to be fair): - Modern building has underground parking ($115/month). - Location is close to Forest Park, highway, and the CWE. - Washer/dryer in unit.
The rent is inflated due to location. Everything about the apartment complex is disappointing. The elevator is unreliable. Water is turned off for spans of approximately 12 hours and this has happened weekly for the past 2 months. Almost any benefit that the sales department describes is a fabrication; the staff fluctuates between just not caring and being flat out dishonest. There are not words to describe the depths of my disappointment with this place. I wish I didn't have to give it even one star.

They try to rope you in by showing a staged apartment but then the actual unit is nothing like the one you've seen before. they will then try to make up to you by giving you a more expensive apartment than you originally wanted because that's the "only one" available. Stayed here for a year and had a terrible experience with the folks in the office.

I have lived at Central West End City Apartments for 6 months now and have had nothing but problems. It is a three building complex with what seems like great amenities: pool, courtyard, front desk in one building, and common room with TVs and pool table. My apartment is infested with cockroaches. It took a week for the maintenance to come spray after I called the front desk and email four times. I have to call every month because they keep coming back. You are not paying for up-keep of the common hallways and lobby. If you want something clean you will have to do it yourself. Also, only trust the left elevator, the right one will get stuck for weeks at a time with a loud buzzing noise (Westmorland’s building). I live in a studio, the cabinet doors are coming off, the sink drips, and you will see cracks/holes where the floor lines with the wall. There is not a fire alarm in the kitchen and no ventilation, so you will need to keep the windows open. You are not able to see your actual apartment until the day you move in, really wish I pushed to see it before. The hallways always smell kind of funny too. Beware of your cars in the parking lot, mine was stolen & cars are broken into once a month. The management of this apartment complex is terrible and unreliable. They do not care about the building’s cleanliness. Nor do they care to get anything done in a timely manner. The review "Central West End City Apartments/Villiage Green - CWE/Debaliviere" pinpoints everything I live with.
1 block from Forest Park with amazing views of the whole neighborhood and downtown and the park. I love it here. The office is great. Maintenance ppl suck but the place has been awesome other than that. Safe covered parking, awesome bar on property and I was even given a bottle upon move-in. You're paying for convenience, location, ambiance and amenities.. all of which are beyond amazing. A full service 2 level gym with personal trainers is not apartment standard. This is a great place to call home especially for young professionals.
If you're into overpriced, lovely-on-the-outside/decaying-on-the-inside old "high rises," location (location, location), and a good view, this is the place for you! If you want to sign disclaimers for asbestos, lead paint, mold and bed bugs, and finish it off with your John Hancock on a form that states you won't sue the company, you have found your new home! (Don't worry about that lead paint, by the way. It's buried under so many layers of mushroom beige unleaded paint that the detail in the woodwork is fading.) If you want to pay extra to use a gym, or you feel an urge to swim in a pool about the size of a hot tub that services hundreds of people--bingo! Home! If you get off on the adrenaline rush of being stuck in an elevator now and then, or the workout you get climbing many stairs to reach home, you've found the right place. (Who needs a gym facility when you've got that, right?) If you take to the idea of carting your laundry up an down those fancy elevators and doing it in a smelly, hot, humid, often-flooded basement in machines that don't work very well and charge to your credit/debit card--voila! If you like the idea of paying extra for parking, key fobs and renters insurance, look no further! If you like to lead your guests through beautiful, impressive, overly cared for lobbies that lead to dark, badly carpeted, neglected hallways with low ceilings that drip condensation and smell of everything from mold to burnt beans, you've found paradise! If you're fond of mold bubbling through paint and visible water damage in your walls when it rains, growing water stains in the walls and ceilings, air ducts with an inch of filth in them, black slew bubbling up from your kitchen sink now and then, dripping faucets, toilets that flush for ten minutes, water that gets shut off a lot, sharing your heat and air conditioning costs with the rest of the building, and thermostats that are mostly for show, this is the place you've been looking for! If you like shoddy workmanship on paint jobs, calking jobs, and cosmetic repairs, your dream home awaits! If you dig the idea of false alarm fires about once a month, and an actual fire every few years, have I got a place for you! Okay, so the view can't be beat. The staff and concierge are thoughtful. Maintenance is relatively prompt. Bottom line? At Central West End City Apartments, you pay a pretty penny for location and view. This is a big corporation, and they care more about their bottom line than you.
