About This Home
Welcome to Dozing on Dog River, a cozy 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage perfect for relaxation. This charming home sleeps up to 10 guests and features multiple outdoor seating areas, a spacious front porch, a fully equipped kitchen, an oversized TV, and free Wi-Fi. Enjoy nature’s serenity while being just 15 minutes from Downtown Mobile. For water lovers, a public boat ramp is only 5 minutes away. Guests will enter the home through the front door on the porch, leading into a welcoming living room with a queen sleeper-sofa, a large TV, and a cozy corner with extra chairs. The dining room, with seating for six, offers views of both the kitchen and living room. The spacious kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, gas cooktop, oven, microwave, and a bistro table with two chairs overlooking the backyard. Two bedrooms on the main level each feature a queen bed, with one offering access to a private patio. The basement houses four twin beds and ample space for blow-up mattresses. Multiple outdoor spaces include a private patio off the second bedroom and a larger patio area off the basement. Pet-friendly with a fee. A pack 'n play/travel crib is available upon request. Nestled in a quiet, rural area of Mobile just off Dog River, this home is less than 10 minutes away from local favorites like McNally Park, The River Shack, and Grand Mariner, making it the perfect spot for a peaceful yet convenient stay. Uber, Lyft, and other taxi services are available, but driving is encouraged. The private dock is currently unavailable for guest use as it is undergoing maintenance. The steps to the basement are steep, and a set of bells is left on the door for those who wish to be alerted when the door is opened for safety. The house has a digital keypad at the front door for access, with the code provided upon check-in. There are two parking pads available, but no street parking. As this house is on the river, water may enter the basement during torrential rainstorms. This is an older home with all the quirks of an older home, and it is not a brand new luxury experience. Pets must be crated when left unattended, are not allowed on furniture or beds, and all waste must be cleaned up from the yard. A non-refundable pet fee applies, and additional cleaning costs will be charged if there is evidence of pet hair on furniture, excess hair, stains, or waste found in the yard or home.

Home of the Original Mardi Gras, Mobile hosts the oldest Carnival celebration in the United States every year. Mobile was the first capital of French Louisiana in the early 18th century and was once referred to as the Paris of the South. The site of many milestones in American history, modern-day Mobile contains several museums that would delight any history buff. From the History Museum of Mobile to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, there are plenty of opportunities to dig deeper into the rich cultural history of the third largest city in Alabama today.
Entertainment abounds in Mobile. Residents can watch a performance at Soul Kitchen Music Hall, Saenger Theatre Mobile, or Crescent Theater. Shoppers relish the ever-present deals at Springdale Mall, the Shoppes at Bel Air, and Festival Centre. Outdoor enthusiasts savor access to many parks and nearby Gulf Shores beaches. Foodies enjoy the expansive array of international cuisine and brunch spots available throughout the city.
