There's much to love about Boston's South End -- the elegant brownstones along Tremont Street, the fantastic shops and restaurants of Columbus Avenue, and the sophisticated yet collegiate feel of Harrison Avenue combine to create a tapestry of a neighborhood that offers something to everyone. This walkable, tree-filled neighborhood offers several parks, the Boston University School of Medicine, some of the best restaurants in the city, and easy access to Northeastern University.
By renting an apartment in South End Boston, you'll enjoy walking along brick-paved sidewalks past historic buildings housing everything from trendy boutiques to art galleries to the city's hottest cafes. You'll spend afternoons shopping at Copley Square and taking in sprawling greenery at Southwest Corridor Park, Blackstone Square, and beautiful Franklin Square. South End is popular with artists, and you'll discover a variety of terrific galleries to explore, especially along Harrison Avenue.

Property Ratings at 345 Harrison
Try calling customer support before you decide to live here!! There is nonexistent customer support. Plus every year UDR the company that owns this building WILL jack up your rent so either you have to decide to move or suck it up and pay the extra $700 they increase it by.

I’ve lived in this building for 6 months now. Terrible smelling chemicals in common areas, door ripped off hinges in the public bathrooms, fire alarms sounding every night, $500 rent increases upon lease renewals, unnecessarily complex entry systems that front desk staff are unwilling to unlock. We got called while we were away threatening our lease because of noise, without verifying if it was actually us (let the record show it was not and they later admitted as such). “Luxury”, it is not.

New residents, steer clear -- especially dog owners! My issues fall into 3 main categories: 1. renewal process 2. communication 3. not truly pet friendly Renewing my lease was a terrible experience and it was nearly impossible to get someone to speak to live. The on-site staff could not discuss any changes (term, monthly cost etc) -- the algorithm dictate everything. A LARGER apartment was listed for less per month but they would not change the price. They told me to pay a transfer fee and move to the other apartment! Communication here is abrupt, corporate, and often blames tenants for their issues. The trash chutes are constantly not working, the west wing has at least one elevator down a few times per month. This past week, they sent an email at 12:30am about "new" pet policies - your dog cannot urinate on the entire city block, which UDR owns - and if they do, you'll be fined and/or evicted! This building claims to be pet friendly and resident first but that is, unfortunately, not the case.

Hello there, Thank you for the taking the time to review our community! We are sorry to hear you have had a negative experience with us and we thank you for your feedback. Many things are taken into consideration regarding the price that our analysts arrive at for renewal rates: seasonality, location of each specific unit in the building, view, etc. No two units are exactly the same and our team strives for transparency when communicating this to our residents. Our maintenance team works to complete all service requests in a timely manner; however, sometimes our vendors may need to order additional parts to complete repairs. We understand this is frustrating and we appreciate your understanding as we work as quickly as we can to make these repairs. We encourage residents to read their lease thoroughly before signing as we outline all policies and rules for our community so as to avoid any confusion. We aim to be transparent in our communication and provide the best experience possible for all of our residents, including those with furry family members. Per your animal addendum signed by all parties, located within the animal rules section, you are prohibited from letting an animal defecate or urinate anywhere on the property. Our district manager has reached out to you regarding this concern and has scheduled a time to give you a call. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Should you have any additional questions or concerns please reach out to our team so that we may assist! Kind Regards, Callie, WeCare@udr.com
The property, amenities and location are great, but the staff and property management are terrible. It’s impossible to talk to a person, the leasing staff inside the actual building are unfriendly, and the assigned leasing agents don’t communicate status and are rude when you ask logistical questions. There is a 2.8x rent-to-income requirement, but exclude 2 paychecks from your income if you’re paid bi-weekly. There are plenty of other locations in South End.

Literally there is nothing wrong with this place! Feels like a hotel with 24 hr concierge. Package room and lockers, gym is awesome, plenty of apartment options and even the small apts have plenty of room. Nice finishes and super quiet space. I barely hear my neighbors ever, very dog friendly and my pup loves the paws park on the 4th floor. There is an east and west tower and they look different one is lighter and the other darker themed. I have zero complaints, maintenance helped me with my heater immediately when I put in a ticket and Verizon specialist helped as well, both within first week of moving in. Everyone is super friendly and I love it here. Rent is steep but you get what you pay for and it doesn’t disappoint.
I’ve lived here for just over 3 months and can think of very few cons. Overall, I absolutely love it here and am so happy to be living here. Some minor things that have been less than ideal: potential for barking dogs in nearby units (very dog friendly place. Can be a pro or con, depending on you!), highly fluctuating rents (may just be Boston, I’m not entirely sure as this is the first place I’ve rented in the city), and noisy construction around the building. All in all, highly recommend, though! Tons of pros.
