In 1887, another settler borrowed the name printed on the salt bags for his resort, the Syracuse Bathing Resort. Eventually, the city embraced the name. Syracuse remained a quiet farming community until the roadway was built to the state park. Today, it is a popular city with access to one of the state’s most beloved parks.
