Property Ratings at 40 Barker Avenue
The pros: - Spacious apartments - Walkable location to downtown and MTA - Super, Brandon, is amazing and so helpful - Quiet, friendly neighbors The cons: - Elevator is shut down frequently and for long periods of time. Recently it was shut down for over 2 weeks and this building is 7 stories tall. - Water is also shut off for repairs frequently and for 8+ hours at a time. - Construction projects take a long time. I lived here for two years with the promise of new buzzers before they were actually installed. Current project is the front entrance which has taken 3+ months and is still not completed. These projects are pretty disruptive and not done in a timely manner. - Management is unresponsive. - Lots of construction in the area which is loud and disruptive. - Pests are common. Pest control is onsite weekly. - Kitchens and bathrooms are updated but the work is not durable or high quality. Not the worst but room for improvement. Overall - this is probably a decent option if you can’t afford the luxury apartments in the area or want more space than those apartments offer. However, I am not sure I would recommend it given all the issues. Many of the residents feel similarly.
My apartment building is a great place to live. It is near all the city"s hotspots. Most things are within walking distance. The White Plains Bus and metro North station are about 5 blocks away. Also the City Center which has Shoprite, Target, Barnes and Noble and the multiplex Cinema are also about a 10 minute . You also are within 10 minutes from the Galleria, Mamaroneck Avenue where you will find many eateries and night life. The building itself is well taken cared of and very peaceful. Have lived there many years and love the location
