Property Ratings at 40 Butler Rd
I lived in this building for one year. Overall my apartment was OK though my utility bills were very high due to the inefficient heating and cooling unit coupled with very poor window insulation. At one point the bathroom window had ice building up on the inside of the sill because the draft was so bad. The building itself has no elevator which gets annoying if you are on a high floor. Also many of the residents seem either unstable or are just uncomfortable to be around and feel safe. The halls would often reek of cigarette smoke, strange people would be hanging out on the front stoop, angry barking dogs would make noise as you walk by a door, and food pantry food would often be left to rot at the front entry way, which was never kept locked. The bathrooms are so cramped that you can touch the sink, toilet, shower, and door all at the same time from one spot. For these reasons I couldnt wait to move out - it felt at times like living in a tenement. But, it is nice to at least have a nice new kitchen...
