Downtown Brooklyn is not only New York’s third-largest business district – it continues to grow and prosper into a pivotal education center. The cityscape around this community is largely made up of historic converted homes and state-of-the-art office buildings. In addition to NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, New York City College of Technology and Long Island University – Brooklyn reside here.
Once students are done with classes for the day, many can be found enjoying the fresh air at Cadman Plaza Park. Points of interest (as well as means of travel) include the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Even with these nearby, locals prefer to commute using the NYC Subway.
Brooklyn’s admiration for art and culture doesn’t go unnoticed – it’s guaranteed you’ll find an entertainment venue that has either a play, band performance, or film viewing party some night during the workweek. When it comes to shopping, you’ll find that Fulton Street will meet your needs.

Property Ratings at 40 Vanderbilt
I have lived at 40 Vanderbilt for over five years and I haven't had a goods night rest because the walls are so thin that I can clearly hear everyone from the other apartment banging, talking loudly and arguing. I have complained to the management and other building staff but it's been to no avail. At one point my refrigerator broke and I was with out one for almost three weeks. The tenants that live in the building are mainly substance abusers, people with mental illnesses, SSI disability or public assistance people. I don't feel safe going outside at night because it's very dangerous and I don't feel safe in the apartment because, whenever they want, security from the building unlock my front door and walk in unannounced. Once I was taking a shower and when I finished and walked out the bathroom, the security guard was standing in the apartment and I was completely naked. I felt demeaned. I'm hoping to find a different apartment in a completely different area where I don't have to stand for so much garbage, unannounced intrusion from the security and disrespect
I do not like with I live in here cuz I can't not have my family come here and my kids come over here but I don't not have space for my kids to stay
