The seat of Grundy County, Morris is a moderately-sized town that’s located just over 60 miles southwest from Chicago. The community rests on the banks of the Illinois River, and there’s plenty to do all within view of the water. William G. Stratton State Park and Kayak Morris Campground all make for engaging recreation spots. There’s boat ramp access for those willing to experience the waters.
The closer you are to Morris’ downtown district, the more likely you are to find a historic home for rent. More densely-packed apartment complexes can be found just outside the city center, providing plenty of amenities to make the drive worth it.
Community is a big part of Morris. The annual Grundy County Corn Festival livens up the town and brings in visitors from all over the state. I-80 passes by just north of the town, making a commute much easier — or a trip to Chicago.
