To the North, it is just a short walk to the Dockweiler Youth Center and the bluff where Windsports provides Hang Gliding lessons. View of Grand Ave parking and Volleyball nets at El Segundo Beach: The beach has some interesting rocks along the bike path and some nice waves coming in to enjoy. It is a good quiet beach to enjoy without the normal crowds seen at Manhattan Beach or some other beach locations during the summer. Towards the Southern part of the beach near El Porto, you can find surfers in the water enjoying the surf. Lifeguard Tower and New Restroom Facilities The new restroom facilities and outdoor rinse station at El Segundo Beach are located at the base of a new lifeguard lookout tower. The lifeguard facility stores equipment for LA County`s Lifeguard`s Junior Guard Program and lifeguard trucks and equipment are also stored here. These facilities make nice additions to a pretty beach. El Segundo has the vibe of a little beach town, while being a short drive away from all the major attractions of Los Angeles. The parks and outdoor events make this an ideal area to take in the beauty of Lost Angeles.
Located just south of LAX Airport, the area lies about 18 miles away from downtown. Although the allure of L.A. will be there when you want it, El Segundo has enough attractions to hold its own.
Residents enjoy the close proximity to El Segundo Beach, where they can relax in the sand or play in the water. You’ll also find many of the neighborhood’s shops, restaurants, and businesses along Pacific Coast Highway, which runs through the city. In addition to being close to two major interstates, living in El Segundo puts you just minutes from the shops at South Bay Galleria.
