3.5 stars - good space, conveneint, management issues

I love my apartment--the unit itself, that is. It's beautiful and in a great location. If you're on a top floor of this building you get an amazing cross-breeze that makes not having AC bearable. The location is amazing and it's so convenient for metra, bus, red line, and brown line. AND it's a block from a giant Marianos and an LA Fitness--also the pool and fitness center at Chase Park. The problem is mostly with the maintenance. I've had to resort to threatening to pay for fixes myself and deducting them from our rent if things were not taken care of in a timely fashion a couple of times. And please know that this wasn't what I jumped to first--these came after literally 3 months of repeated written requests through the mandated process. Funnily enough, my requests were taken care of immediately after that which just tells me that they could have done something much earlier, but did not. Another note, our stairwell walls have been patched and sanded for more than a year after they were damaged by a tenant moving in with no sign of them actually repainting the walls. It looks terrible. The unit itself and the location are enough to tip me over to 3.5 stars, but just know that you are going to have to be very vigilant about maintenance requests if you want anything done. Don't expect a well maintained courtyard, grass, or stairwell...but the units are beautiful.
