Property Ratings at 505 Dekum Apartments
very modern construction, easy to work with management, friendly and walkable neighborhood. this was the perfect place to start my time in portland.
Spent a lovely couple of years here at 505 Dekum! The neighborhood is wonderful and the management is kind and responsive. We loved our space.
I love my 1-bedroom apartment on the 4th floor! The East-facing windows are huge and give me incredible views on clear days of Mt Hood and Mt Saint Helens. The apartment is spacious with modern amenities. I appreciate having a washer/dryer in my unit, as well as a dishwasher and AC. The other tenants are cool, quiet and friendly. The landlord really cares about this place and keeps it clean, both inside and out. I always found parking right on this block. There are several great restaurants, bars, parks and even the Farmer's Market all within walking distance. I'm only leaving the apartment b/c I'm moving out of the country. This is a safe building in an amazing neighborhood. I highly recommend it!
Of all the nightmare landlords and building managers that I’ve had to deal with in the city, the crew at 505 Dekum were a light in a dark cave. Maintenance requests are quickly taken care of, staff/owners are hands on and personable, and rather than raise rents drastically each year, they would rather have a community that stays there. If I didn’t move out of state, I would still be there. The neighborhood has everything you could possibly need within walking distance and is relatively safe (for Portland). Highly recommend.
Everyone who works there is extremely nice and helpful, I felt well taken care of the whole time. The huge windows make the space feel even bigger as well as the storage space was very nice! This place felt very homey and the neighbors are kind. Also, cute neighborhood with restaurants super close by, and a big park to walk your dog. Also very close to both freeways (205 & I5) and easy access to Vancouver, WA which was convenient for work purposes.
I really enjoyed living at this apartment for a year. I loved how modern the interior was and felt as if I had a perfect amount of space for 1 person and my cat. The maintenance team was friendly and quick to help. My favorite part of the apartment were the huge south-facing windows and the spacious bathroom. I always was able to park on the street and enjoyed having several bars, restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance.
I lived at 505 Dekum for about 2 years and would have kept living there if I wasn't moving out of state. The apartment is beautiful and clean. I absolutely loved the big southern-facing windows! I've lived in several apartments in Portland and this one by far provided the most natural light. The community in these apartments are quiet and the building felt secure. The location was really convenient for walking, taking the bus and driving. I was always able to park within a blocks distance, but typically just across the street. The office team is pretty responsive! I had an issue with my mail being delivered to the wrong box and they were able to figure out who it went to.
I lived at 505 Dekum for nearly 2.5 years. Overall I was really happy living there. You really can’t beat all the natural light and views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens! Property management and maintenance are kind and responsive. I had two very minor maintenance issues while living there and they were sorted out quickly. The bedroom, while small, still fits a queen mattress and two small nightstands. The Woodlawn neighborhood is a great hidden gem. Handful of walkable bars and restaurants without the hustle bustle. Woodlawn park is only a few blocks away which was super convenient. Would recommend!
Huge windows, full size washer/dryer and decent size kitchen for a studio. Everyone who works there is extremely nice and helpful, I felt well taken care of the whole time. I loved how small the complex was as a whole, for instance, I rarely shared the elevator with anyone, there aren't many neighbors. The few I passed on ocassion seemed nice. Also, cute neighborhood with restaurants super close by, and a big park to walk your dog!
If safety is an important factor in renting, don’t choose this place! While living at 505 Dekum, I experienced several safety concerns. For example, due to lack of parking, my vehicle was broken into while parked on the street (there are A LOT of break ins in this area). Also, I heard gun shots across the street on one occasion & a couple blocks away on another. On top of these experiences, I’ve had bug infestations, lack of hot water, and a faulty front door that wouldn’t close all the way. If you value your vehicle and/or your safety don't choose this place. IT'S NOT SAFE & I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHOOSING ANOTHER PROPERTY.
I was sold on the light in the apartment. I have a top floor apartment that has great views of Mt St Helens and the Cascades. Apartments have all the appliances you’d want in your unit (dishwasher, washer/dryer, AC, garbage disposal). Nice sized walk-in closet in my unit. The management team has been quick to respond to anything that needs fixing and were very cooperative when I decided I wanted to move to a different apartment within the building. There’s street noise (not horrible) from Dekum but the AC in summer drowns it out. One thing missing for me is bike storage outside of your unit. Wish they had space for studio apartments to keep their bikes other than in the living space but that’s not really a big deal.
