It's 5 minutes to Pat's IGA groceries and Family Dollar. 6 or 7 minutes from Portage Hospital and Finalandia U. 18 minutes from Michigan tech. Wallmart and the main shopping areas. We are in a country setting where low traffic roads are great for walks and runs. You may hear coyotes at night, hear/see sand hill cranes, geese deer, there are two wolfs around, occasional a bear may cross the road in front of you, but you are close enough to order pizza delivery. High Gate owns 140 acres which are a 3 minute walk up the road that Tenant's are permitted to use for a retreat to God's nature. Tenants snow shoe, cross country ski, and enjoy our 40 acre beaver pond. We keep small boats and kayaks for you to take a pond cruise on. Feel free to hang a hammock or enjoy our rustic picnic area and fire pit. Wood cut and supplied for you. Our current Tenants include an Exercise physiologist, a computer programmer that works for national defense, a pastor, a retired vet, a retired couple, and a physicist major. Tenants do have to pay their own individual metered utilities of propane heat and electricity. High speed Spectrum Cable for TV and internet is a Tenant option and available. We built these apartment to maximum energy cost efficiency. For apartment 2, the heating/propane cost was $450.00/ year (about $35-$45/month) from January 1st 2019 to January 1st 2020. Electric cost was about $1,100.00 for the same year so about $100.00 per month more or less. Restrictions to be aware of. Please and kindly be advised because of parking restrictions and availability there is only one vehicle permitted per apartment. We have noise restrictions between 10 pm and 10 am. If your the type of person who likes to blast music and party the High Gate is not a good choice for you. Also there is no smoking permitted anywhere on our premises even in your own apartment. We love animals but sorry absolutely no pets are allowed, no exceptions sorry.
