Property Ratings at 55 W. Chestnut
Pros: My unit was near the top floor and facing the southeast so my view was mind blowing. If you have a southern facing corner unit and it’s high up, you will love the apartment. Other than that, Laundry room is well-maintained and always open. Maintenance is great. Location is fantastic (especially if you use public transportation). Very safe building - didn’t see anything sketchy or ever feel in danger. Right by a dog park which is nice for some people. Never had any issues with bugs or anything of that nature. Cons: Elevators are slow and the building isn’t brand new but you get over both of those quickly in my opinion. Summary: I lived there for a year and only moved because of a new job. Otherwise, I would’ve renewed my lease. It really is a great apartment and I’m happy I picked it… And for that reason, I felt like I should share my experience. Hopefully it helped!
I have lived there for few years. Great building. Amazing area . Beautiful view
If you are looking to live in the Gold Coast/River North area, this is probably the best priced building in that part of the city. Management is nice, prompt, and helpful. When my husband and I first signed the lease, management was able to accommodate our requests at no additional cost, specifically installing laminate flooring in the living room and bedroom, as well as installing a dishwasher. We would have renewed our lease if we weren't moving. Living here made our year in Chicago especially wonderful!
I lived here for 3 years. This is a great building - apparently, it is not one of those newest buildings, but property management has been upgrading over the years. We've got new tiles, lobbies, fitness centers and party room this year. The amenity is well maintained. I never had to wait for the washer/dryers, gym is great and clean, and there is a huge sun deck that definitely adds a great value. The building's location is unbeatable, very close to train and bus station, Michigan Ave, and walkable to River North and Gold Coast neighborhoods. The thing I like the most is definitely the staff. Everyone is very friendly and very helpful. The building manager, Laura, makes everything incredibly easy. I have made all kinds of requests during my time here, such as switching units, temporary parking and etc. Laura really went above and beyond to accommodate my requests and provided a lot of flexibility for many of my very last minute requests. I am very thankful for all the help I've got. I had to move out of this building due to work relocation, but I will always recommend this building to anyone.
I have been living here for one and a half year and have to say, the staff here are very responsible, tenants are easy to get quick responses from the manager. The doorman and maintenance personnel treat their work very carefully and seriously. The highlight of the building should be its location, close to Loyola University water tower campus, Ogden International School, 22 Bus and Chicago/State station of red line. The rooms of 7 and 8 have a good view to see the Washington Square Park and Lake of Michigan.
55 West Chestnut is a great place to live. The building staff are all so friendly. I was very happy with my apartment!! The building manager, Laura, was on top of everything there. She was quick to respond to any questions and always willing to help out. The location is awesome also...very close to the lake, shopping and restaurants. So very convenient!! I would highly recommend 55 West Chestnut!!!
I'm so happy we found this building! My daughter moved to Chicago for work and was blessed to find such a great apartment. Laura was very helpful and made sure everything was always smooth, from move in to move out! The unit and amenities fit our needs perfectly and were appropriate. Location is especially amazing! The door person added security and peace of mind (especially for parents). Highly recommended!
I lived here for 2 years and had a wonderful experience. I was very happy with my unit, the building amenities, location, and the building staff are all so friendly and helpful. Laura was always on top of whatever I needed! Would recommend!!
I love living here! Everyone is so friendly. The manager, Laura, is so awesome and helpful. The bulding is very well-kept and modern. It is also in the best location in Chicago! It’s close to the lake and a bunch of great restaraunts and shops. It’s a great place to live!
I have nothing but good things to say about this building. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The manager, Laura, is very helpful and truly cares for the residents. I LOVE the big patio, there are grills and plenty of tables to sit at—great for entertaining guests! Renovations to the lobby and party room are just finishing up and so far they look great! There is also a business center with computers and a printer—ink and paper is provided. The location is one of the bests in Chicago. Close to the mag mile, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and the beach! Safety was a top priority in my apartment searching. I feel very safe in this building with the front door security. I plan on staying in the building for many years to come.
Being new to Chicago, I was very happy to find 55 W Chestnut - my home for the past 2 years. The location is perfect - very close to both the Red and the Brown CTA lines, and walking distance to many choices for markets, restaurants, and nightlight. The building is very well taken care of by the staff, who also happen to be very nice people. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to live closer to downtown while still looking for more of a neighborhood feel when you walk out the front door.
Loved living at 55 W. Chestnut! Amazing location, very close to grocery stores, shops, restaurants, night life... as well as the beach! Public transportation is very accessible from here as well. This is one of Chicago's prime locations!! Very safe building, very friendly staff, very pleasant building manager! Questions and concerns are handled efficiently and quickly. Apartments are spacious and confortable. Esther is amazing: she's thoughtful, sweet, kind, and caring. Laura, the manager, is excellent! Make sure to get in touch with her and secure an awesome apartment at 55 W. Chestnut! Don't miss out!!
I absolutely loved living at 55 W Chestnut. I lived in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with another roommate. Spacious area, great location-- in the vicinity of Old Town, Gold Coast, and River North. Shopping, grocery stores, and restaurants all walking distance away. The landlord, Laura, was very helpful -- answered emails on time and no matter what was going on, she was always willing to help out and respond in a timely manner. There is also a doorman/ security right before entering the building, which definitely made it safer. Esther was excellent as well. She was very helpful and always would go out of her way to say hello and help others. Really recommend this building! If you have any questions, make sure to reach out to Laura!
