About This Property

Elegant living in an elegant condominium high rise building with doormen and maintenance staff. This spacious two bedroom space has lovely views from the living room and primary bedroom to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Lake and Jackson Park. The small elevator lobby on the 7th floor has only 2 units to access it, which feels very private. The living room has a dramatic wall of stone and smoked glass surrounding the decorative fireplace. The dining room has a black enameled bar cabinet. The second bedroom has built-in cabinetry and a desk for the perfect and private home office. The kitchen has ceramic tiled floors and countertops with lots of cabinets and mirrored backsplash and accents. The Board of Jackson Towers controls this unit, and although they will sign a one year lease (which could extend longer) there will be a contingency clause in the contract with a 30 day cancelation if the board needs to relinquish control. The listing broker would be happy to discuss the situation. This is an amazing location: across Lake Shore Dr to the famed 57th St sandy beach and the bike/walking path that extends from the South Shore Cultural Center all the way to Edgewater for terrific exercise opportunities. At the corner of 56th and Hyde Park Blvd are the express bus to the Loop and the 55th bus to Midway. Go west a few more blocks and you are on the campus of the University of Chicago. The Obama Center has already broken ground behind the Museum across the street, but much of Jackson Park will remain open for strolling and rolling. The Hyde Park Shopping Center is a few blocks away with the Walgreen's, Trader Joes and wonderful restaurant/cafe options. Also close are the Whole Foods and Marshalls and the foodie destinations on 53rd St. The Metra to the Loop and to the beaches of Indiana is just two short blocks away. Doormen and maintenance crew onsite. This building is known for its wonderful service. It's a great opportunity to live grandly at a price you might pay for a walk-up. And your heat is included! $350 move-in fee payable to the building. Basic credit report by Thomas Reports required. Board members will meet with tenant applicant before acceptance. Move-in Monday -Friday 8am-5pm

Neighborhood

Bordering Washington Park to the East, Hyde Park is a popular and culturally diverse South Side community. Lush, spacious parks and the University of Chicago campus dominate the neighborhood. Although there is a wide selection of luxury communities, there are many apartments and rental houses that are surprisingly affordable, attracting students, faculty, staff, and any renters looking for a good deal.

This small park-like neighborhood is rich with history. Hyde Park is home to one of Chicago’s most famous landmarks: The Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. Hyde Park was also home to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, several Nobel Prize winners, and former President Barack Obama. The neighborhood is surrounded by beautiful green spaces, lush foliage, and lakefront parks with small beaches. Midway Plaisance Park is a long stretch of parkland with sports facilities and an outdoor skating rink.
