No response to leasing application submitted. No response to phone calls either
Have lived here for years. DON'T LIVE HERE. Look up any Essex property and all the recent reviews say the same thing - impossible to get in contact with anyone from management. Have had multiple emails and calls gone unanswered. I'm sure new residents get the red carpet treatment, but once you become a resident - no contact, or if you do - they never follow up. Awful. I've seen reviews with uninhabitable living conditions that haven't had any follow up - so good luck if you have any other concerns. While Essex brags that they have had a high number of renters since Covid - they also increased the rent but completely closed off management services to existing residents. This has to be illegal.
This is an apartment where you pay $55-$60 for water/trash every month even you are gone for an entire month. No matter how much you use, you will always end up paying that much for a single occupant. There was a month that I paid over $60 too. I do feel it is a significant amount to pay every month for a single occupant. The environment of the apartment is not that pleasant. My packages were stolen several times. Management team is nice when you do not have any issue. Once you bring any issue to its attention, you will find out that it is hopeless.
Just not worth paying this much to rent an apartment here. Elevator is often out of service; there were many times that I had to take other elevator and walk a long way to get my unit (this is a huge complex). The garage entrance door frequently does not work properly. While it is being fixed which happens all the time, the door is left open; so it is not a secure/gated parking. There are homeless everywhere when you go out on Wilshire, and there are many empty shops/stores for lease. It is just declining neighborhood. It is just not worth paying this much for this apartment. I really really regret that I decided to rent this place. I hope others make a better decision.
It is just not worth paying the high rent to get this apartment in this area. Elevator is out of service quite often; it is a big complex, with heavy bags of groceries, I had to use other elevator and walk a long way to get my suit many times. Plus, frequently, the garage entrance door does not work properly. I have lost packages delivered to my door several times. There are homeless everywhere when you go out on Wilshire, and many empty stores for lease. This area used to be nice but not anymore. It is absolutely declining neighborhood. I hope others make a better decision. There are many options nearby areas and West LA. I am regretting my decision to rent this place.
Similarly priced properties in the area will include security guards that patrol the building. You will not find security here. Homeless people break into this building so often they had to disable some of the elevators near the Wilshire side of the building. All 6 floors and 250+ families in the building share only two elevators during the pandemic. Property pictures show all of the modern amenities you cannot use. Even before the pandemic, the hot tub was not heated. Nothing here is thought out for the tenant, the sprinklers in the dog grass area turn on at the most popular times to take your dog out. I believed the older reviews from 2015, but the building is now (2020)managed by Essex Apartment homes and seems to be in decline. The parking garage door is also constantly broken so nothing is ever really safe in there.
We lived here for a year and recently moved out. I can say that management here is very professional and maintenance team is top notch!! Carlos, Miguel and other guys are the best maintenance team ever. I’ve never waited more then 24hr for them to contact me and they fix it right away. Im not talking about emergencies(they will be there in minutes) but even minor issues like lights change or AC filter, the way they work is outstanding! Now we moved to a property across the street (5550 Wilshire) and I have to wait weeks before they fix my washer. At 5600 Wilshire Carlos would be there same day!!! I recommended this building to my friend and he is happy as well. Best, Lisa A.
The amenities in this building are absolutely incredible! So many restaurants and stores are walking distance or a short drive away. Great location!
5600 Wilshire is a great location in which you can walk to many things. All of the maintenance staff, and half of the office staff are great. Amenities are nice but almost impossible to use on the weekends. Guest parking is a plus. Half of the tenants in this very large building I have met are lovely, the other half are terrible so hopefully you will luck out and get a nice neighbor.
The one bedroom apartments in 5600 Wilshire are extremely spacious as well as luxurious: carpeted living room, hardwood kitchen floor, marble counter tops, stainless steel appliances, central air, washer drier in unit. It's a very dog friendly building but also very clean and quiet with very friendly residents. The building also has food trucks every Thursday as well as open mic nights, movie nights, beautiful pool with fire places and tables and chairs to eat at as well as other fun events. The apartment I live in is on a busy street and a low floor yet still very quiet. I also have an included parking spot. The building is very central, a few minutes drive to West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and all the major art museums. Overall, a fabulous place to live.
When it comes to your housing, you want it all. Location, security, nice neighborhood, amenities, and of course affordable rent. I was in search for all this till I found this complex, 5600 Wilshire. They are managed by publicly traded company Essex Property Trust, so all trust and convenience " Such as online rent pay" is there, and best of all how far the management team is willing to go to make happy is unreal.
