About This Property
EVERYTHING is new - from the wiring and plumbing to the windows and hardwood floors - this apartment has been lovingly restored by my husband and myself. The only thing that remains of the original 1881 home is the foundation/frame! This is a beautiful apartment in a great neighborhood with friendly (quiet!) neighbors. Well insulated with new natural gas boiler and modern radiators which provide warm, efficient heat. This is an open-concept, VERY bright and cheery apartment with loving details throughout. We are looking forward to sharing this apartment with you. Welcome to your new home! The home is located in the upper part of the historic Sand Hill area of Augusta - the first house off Northern Avenue with an empty lot buffer between Northern Ave and the home. Great location! Online maps of exterior house/street view picture is NOT accurate. Very old picture! All landscaping has been updated! 1 hour from the Portland International Airport and the coast. The home is a 5 minute drive to I-95, Maine General Hospital, Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, University of Maine Augusta (UMA), and the State House. A straight shot up Northern Ave takes you to Thomas College, Colby College in 25 minutes. A 10 minute walk takes you to the local Farmer's Market (April - November) and the thriving downtown Water Street area with it's restaurants/pubs/micro-brewery and shops. The Kennebec River is just down the hill (you can see it through the trees from the porch) with a walking path, petanque court and kayak/canoe launch. Up Northern Avenue is a free public pool, new playground, and 2 Pickleball Courts.
57 Franklin St is an apartment community located in Kennebec County and the 04330 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Augusta Public Schools attendance zone.

With the Kennebec River flowing throughout the town, Maine’s capital Augusta is a rural locale filled with history. In 1628, English settlers from Plymouth Colony used the capital city as a trading post. Dedicated to preserving the state’s history, many of the activities revolve around celebrating the past. Visit the Old Fort Western, America’s oldest surviving wooden fort where Benedict Arnold attempted to capture Quebec during the American Revolution. The fort hosts history reenactments and other themed events year-round. You can even learn about time gone by in Museum in the Streets, a seasonal tour where informational signs are installed at the sites. Augusta is also home to the University of Maine at Augusta, giving this city the feel of a small college town.
Enjoy the lush nature this small town offers by visiting the Pine Tree State Arboretum, a 224-acre park and botanical garden perfect for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing.
