Maintenance responds to problems fast and unbelievably attentively! I had a problem with my dishwasher and they not only fixed it but also noticed it was loose. They also walked around the apartment inspecting other things that could be adjusted!

We have lived here for a few months now and everything has been great. Our apartment has a modern, open floor plan with spacious storage in the kitchen and closets. The area is quiet except for occasional train noise, but the parking garage sits between the apartment units and train tracks so that muffles the noise. The pool and gym are both simple/small but still good amenities. It is nice to park in the garage because our cars are protected by a gate and out of the elements, and we can park on the same level as our apartment so it is a short walk to our front door. We have not had any serious maintenance issues, but when small things come up (for example a lightbulb burns out) it is easy to submit a request online. Then, our section of apartments has one designated maintenance worker, Brandon, who always quickly and effectively fixes any issues we have.

Multi-year resident. The entire time I have lived here there has been nearly constant trespassing and theft within this "locked" building and gated resident parking garage. There have been at least three car thefts, many more car break-ins (broken windows), package thefts right in front of our doors, storage unit break-ins. I myself lost a $350 item and the management shrugged. Greystar is unable or unwilling to stop or even reduce the frequency. They have not been forthcoming about the incidents in most cases (I hesitate to say they lie but...). My information comes from neighbors and friends in the complex. The most important thing you should know if you move here - there are trespassers in our hallways during the nighttime - beware. Another issue is with trash being left out in the hallways. This seems to be caused by a required $30 trash valet thing where you leave your trash out and it's picked up, even though there is a trash chute down the hall. Who wants to see and smell trash as you walk down the hall?? And you get charged for city trash removal on top of the $30. Otherwise it's good for dogs here, which could also help with protection. Rent is shooting through the roof as well and I'll likely be priced out when my lease ends.

Brandon from the maintenance team is the best! He's super responsive and fixes everything really quickly. He has helped fix random things in my apartment numerous times. 5th St Commons is very lucky to have him. Location of these apartments are great! I regularly walk to West 6th for bars, Clarksville for restaurants, Whole Foods, HEB, Zilker, and Barton Springs. I love the location, it's in a safe quiet neighborhood, but close to downtown so you're apart of all the action!

I have been a 5th street commons resident for less than two years. Since I have lived in this complex, three vehicles have been stolen from the complex parking garage-including my own car. I have reached out to the regional manager, Greystar’s office in Austin, and to Greystar’s corporate office to explain my concerns and have not been able to get in contact with anyone. I feel that management has handled this situation extremely poorly and does not prioritize the safety and concerns of their residents. Each door/entrance to the building requires a key fob to get inside. However, non-residents are still able to successfully enter the building and constantly steal packages, go through storage units and even worse, resident cars. I truly feel that safety/theft issues here will only continue increase due to the lack of action taken by management. Greystar/5th Street Commons management have failed to implement any changes to security and surveillance with the increase of crime in the building. I no longer feel that this apartment is home nor safe and am looking forward to my lease ending.

I just moved into 5th Street Commons and I am blown away by the professionalism of the staff, the complex, and amenities. The location is terrific and within walking distance to downtown. The apartment itself (two-bedroom/bath) is spacious and rooms have large windows that allow plenty of natural light in. The complex has a well-equipped gym and a track-style swimming pool, which is all included in your rent. If you have guests over, there is also plenty of parking available. The rent is fairly pricey, but you're ultimately paying for the location/amenities. There isn't anything around that is cheaper for the same quality. I would highly recommend 5th Street Commons to anyone looking for a high-quality apartment community centrally located in Austin.

I have been here couple months already the alarms go off at odd hours like 4am in the morning. The office is understaffed for maintenance and cleaniness overall. Residents just leave the garbage overnight causing the hallway to stink the garbage room is closed so people leave garbage just out. Overall lack of accountability and customer service. Please be aware before signing lease here

I've lived at 5th Street Commons for about a year now. After living in a very bad apartment situation prior, 5th Street Commons has been a walk in the park. Pros: The staff is very friendly and handled the freeze earlier this year very well with constant communication. They have nice community events with free snacks, fun activities and happy hours at the Mean Eyed Cat. The pool is nice and never too crowded. This apartment has the best walls when it comes to noisy neighbors, you can even hardly hear the train that goes behind the building. This has been the only apartment I have lived in where I have so rarely had to deal with bugs inside, it creates such peace of mind. The location is ideal, it's in a safe area and has pretty much direct access to the trail to Zilker Park. Being right next to the Mean Eyed Cat is great when it's a nice day and you want to grab a drink on a patio. I live in a 2 bedroom and our floorplan has the largest kitchen I've ever seen in a 2 bedroom apartment, the bedrooms are a bit on the smaller side but it's worth it for the large kitchen/living space. AND the closets are huge!! Cons: These are minor so don't let them deter you, the pros far outweigh these. When people are in the courtyard common areas it can get a little noisy because it echos, usually this is only on Friday/Saturday nights and doesn't go too late. We had a wasp problem on our patio during the summer/spring, we probably had to spray around 30 wasps that were trying to build nests. The biggest issues have been - the trash compactor was broken for a bit and the fire alarm has gone off frequently in the early mornings due to a maintenance issue. None of these issues were the management/staff's fault, supply chain issues and short-staffed repair companies have just made things difficult. The rent is steep, but you're paying for the location and there isn't anything around that is cheaper for the same quality. Overall, I really love living at 5th Street Commons and hope to stay here as long as I can afford it.

Filthy moving in, everything is broken. They don't fix things in an adequate amount of time, the employees are rude and don't follow up. Please visit before signing a lease. Its not worth the price.

We lived here during transition for exactly 4 months and during that time, the fire alarm sounded almost weekly, our car window was bashed in, inside the gated parking. We were never notified of packages, we were told our children couldn’t play in the courtyard because they were disturbing residents who worked from home. There is a constant smell of marijuana in the hallways, and nearly every appliance in our apt doesn’t work and even after requests these issues weren’t addressed. Move somewhere else. This place is just awful.

Great community in a wonderful location! The staff is so fabulous and friendly, and I love all of the events they put on. Maintenance is very responsive and quick--I've never waited more than 24 hours for a request to be completed. I love the location and everything about it. Would highly recommend!
Having never lived too far from home, I was anxious to rent an apartment 1800 miles away. However, I moved into 5th Street Commons last month. Living here so far has been nothing short of amazing. I feel right at home. The leasing staff is incredible; they make everything easy and are eager to please. The building is safe and in a great area. My apartment is stunning. I can't wait to furnish it and have my family and friends visit.
This is a very dog-friendly and well located complex. Right next to the mopac highway and close to everything downtown. There is a dog-washing station and a gated garage as well as a pool.

Great neighborhood, easy access to Mipac, unit decor is odd but common areas are clean. Train horn can be heard and walls are thin. Rent is reasonable if you start your lease in the off season.
