Asylum Hill is just one mile from Downtown Hartford, affording residents year-round access to city celebrations and festivals. The community is over 615 acres and slightly hilly, with the largest hill located to the west of the downtown area.
Aside from its natural river border, Asylum Hill is bound by Interstate 84 and railroad tracks. Before insurance agencies moved into the area in the 1920s, the community was mostly farmland. Aetna remains a staple and large employer in the community – the company is located on Farmington Avenue.
The community is pretty multicultural and attracts tourists with its historic landmarks, such as the Mark Twain House and Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. In addition to their affordable apartments, residents enjoy taking a stroll through Sigourney Square Park.

Property Ratings at 600A LLC
600A LLC is very poor maintenance. Not a proper response from leasing office people as well the maintenance people. In my past 10 years of apartment life 600A LLC is the worst the worst management in maintaining the apartment as well respecting people. NEVER EVERY TRY TO TAKE A LEASE WHEREVER 600A LLC.
I could tell you about the fact that the building is down to one elevator at least 30% of the time, the recycling bins that seemingly never get emptied, or the fire alarms that used to happen almost every week (which have abated). However, the most perplexing thing is the apartment callbox at the entrance, which has not been working for at least a year. The staff say they are trying to make it work and add everyone's phone numbers so you can buzz people in, but I honestly don't see how it could possibly be a hard thing to program? So I am flummoxed. You should look elsewhere if at all possible.
Do not try to come this community. Very worst response from leasing office as well as lot of miss communications. No clean environment.
600ALLC took ownership of this property this past summer. Living conditions have worsened since. The overhead lights in the garage have been broken or deliberately left off multiple times during the past month/s. It is near pitch black without them. The method of recycling used is 4-6 blue recycling bins left near the trash compactor outside. These bins seem to be always full of trash and recycling. Good luck trying to recycle. Expect to find the public areas (hall ways, elevators, stairwells, garage, walking areas outside) littered with random amounts of trash. It does not seem like the new owners employ a regular cleaning service. The method of communication used by current management is text. There is no email system in place that allows you to contact them. You either reach them via phone during business hours or leave a voicemail. There is no paper trail of your communications with property management. I do not know why anyone would voluntarily live here.
Looks like the apartment is in a downhill trend. Management is poor and does not care about residents. Rodents and roaches are present. The main area is not cleaned and is a mess. Packages delivered to the Package room gets lost or taken away by other residents within 10 mins of delivery. The package room is filled with packages which are already by other residents to see if any valuable items are there. Garage door is left open and anybody can enter the premises without any issues. There is no security at all. Foods orders left the DoorDash or other delivery have to picked up immediately within a minute or else it is gone.... Avoid this apartment at any cost.
This place is conveniently located right outside of Hartford and is within walking distance of the train station as well! The view I had was stunning and a great joy to wake up to every morning. The staff was very friendly and prompt with their responses and service/maintenance was done very quickly and not intrusively. The place has reliable appliances and I've never had a plumbing problem. The building is a bit old, but I still find it very manageable to live in comfortably. The place is relatively clean and easy to take care of. There are sometimes loud and noisy tenants, but it rarely happens. I believe this is because my studio was located towards the end of a hallway. For the price and convenience I got, I'd say it was well worth it!
Almost 7.5 years ago I came looking to rent an apartment in Hartford, I found a home instead. Capitol View Apartments truly provided me with an affordable place with amenities included in rent, plenty of parking options, stone throw distance from railway, bus stations, walking distance to downtown Hartford, connectivity to two Interstates and accessibility to park and riverfront.. Add to this access to excellent bus network of CT Transit.. Need I say any further? Capitol View Apartments is the ONLY place I came back to when I returned to Hartford area 2 years ago. It provides safe, affordable and homely living arrangements. Thank you to TRIO team for making me feel at home! I will always call CapView my home, because it is :-)
This place is infested with rodents and the management just extorts money from the residents when they leave
I have mixed emotions about this place, the staff has been very pleasant most times there is one young lady in particular that remembers everyone and everything! The only major issues I have are with the cleanliness of the other tenants. I’m not sure if it’s the short term renters or just people who do not care about their living environment but I have bumped into someone smoking at the stairwells by the garbage shoot, people leaving unwanted furniture and garbage in the hallways (I have found dirty matrasses on the outside of my door multiple times), using the hallway as a playground kids riding bikes and running around etc. They have walked all the way to the trash shoot and just left their smelling garbage out in the open!! I believe this is why I now bump into mouse and roaches from time to time. The building is very old and it seems as though a lot of corners were cut when they were building I really love the location I wish the environment was better.
A number of issues arose in the time I was renting. I had vermin appear in the apartment on multiple occasions, poor management of building issues, and minimal interior noise insulation. I would only recommend this property to those on a budget looking to stay in the immediate area, who don't mind noisy neighbors.
The apartment was in good shape when I arrived. There were a few small problems that were fixed within twenty four hours of notifying them.
My fiancé and I visit this place because we are looking for an apartment we loved it we are trying to get everything situated to live there it's a really nice place and the staff is very polite and helpful.
The rent is affordable and the location is perfect for my wife and I.
Went to view this place some time ago, we wanted to give the place a chance, despite the bad reviews we've seen. Upon arriving, there was a man on the stoop drinking a beer in a paper bag. Then, entering the building there was a smell, almost like curry, but not. Definitely not pleasant. We were told the room that we were viewing used to be the showroom, but they were renting it out. First thing we noticed was the carpet in the closet had a section cut out of it, and you could see the bare wood underneath, which was ok, we could get that fixed. We are not nit-picky... Then the next thing was a brownish stain in the carpet in the living room. The last straw was when I noticed the vermin trap under the heater that lined the walls. Seeing this, I decided to take a closer look at the the kitchen. Not even hidden, there were several dead roaches laying on the tile. At that point it was a definite no for me. Now don't get me wrong, these were the only things I saw on the visit, otherwise the room was nice and the community seemed well enough. Even the staff member who showed us around was extremely sociable and friendly.
I have been staying here since more than 2 years now. Apart from the occassional sound of ambulance or fire-truck sirens, my stay has been quite fun. I have an excellent view of downtown and a nice ambience. The staff is very helpful and responsive. Any issues/complaints are dealt within a day. A good no. of diverse families reside in the building. The proximity to downtown, access to various modes of conveyance & an in-house gym is a very good combo. Recommended!!
The price includes major utilities and the location is incredible. The staff is usually friendly, approachable, and responses in a timely manner. People living here need to be more respectful to the buidling and others regarding the mess/noise they make.
