Property Ratings at 690 Fort Washington
My apartment is beautiful - a spacious prewar one-bedroom with huge foyer, dining room and sunken living room. Art deco touches include arched entryways, wood floors with inlaid designs and a built-in niche with shelves in the foyer. The apartment gets lots of light, with big windows, especially in the west-facing bedroom, which has windows on two sides. The kitchen and dining room have black ceramic tile, and the bathroom has cream-colored marble floor and tile. Building management and the super are problematic, however. A large percentage of the residents have been trying to get rid of the super for years. As for management, communication is a huge issue - emails and phone calls go unanswered, issues are not followed up (my intercom has been broken for years). Management has been making improvements, so I'll give them credit; I've had a couple of electrical and plumbing issues lately that were responded to immediately. They've also been improving the building, with new tile, paint and lighting in common areas. They meet with the residents on a semi-regular basis to hear tenants' issues. All in all, I've been happy living here for the past seven years.
My apartment is fantastic. The building is in a great location, close to the subway and the park. The neighborhood is fantastic, very clean and friendly. I'd highly recommend an apartment in this building.
