Property Ratings at 7675 University Ave
My boyfriend & I lived here for a year from Feb 2024 to Feb 2025. All I can say is we were beyond lucky to cross paths with Mark. When we move to Iowa neither of us had never been to Iowa or that far west. We didn’t know a soul in Iowa let alone the Midwest. The first apartment complex we signed a lease with on the east side of Des Moines put us in a very stressful situation where we needed to terminate the lease immediately & seek legal action through small claims court. This was on a Friday. That night we got a hotel & while searching rental posts where we found Marks listing on Apartments.com & Facebook On Saturday we gave Mark a call, he answered almost immediately (thinking we weren’t going to be able to tour the apartment till Monday or Tuesday) but to our surprise less than an hour later from our call we were at the apartment touring. We told him our situation where he listened to us openly & conversed about how he got into the rental business. His journey was incredible and sincere which shines in how well maintained with care & dedication to his properties are. This is where he became our saving grace because he asked us to come back in a few hours to sign a lease that he just needed to contact his cleaning team & we could move in that night on a SATURDAY. Mark was always available for even the smallest of questions IE what type of rock salt could be used because I have bad knees. He went as far to offer to have a bag dropped off. On top of communication with memos and texts. Looked out for us during our first major tornado. He always had his maintenance crew readily available as well, though we never needed to call them cause as stated before Mark takes a lot of pride in the upkeep of his properties. What I loved most about living at Chateau West Apartments: - Close to work, grocery stores, convenience and pharmacy stores, the highway, restaurants - The area is quiet but also relatively close to the hustle and bustle of downtown - Walking trail right across the street Thank you beyond words Mark and wish you nothing but the best of luck!
I lived here for a few years a while ago went away for college and then leased there again for 4 more years (moved out August 2019). I loved having lots of windows, a private entrance on the front balcony, a deck, generous square footage and a responsive landlord (Mark). I also think the location is ideal right across from the a trail, 5 minutes to 235 and close to Windsor Heights shopping and restaurants. My only warning is that the basement flooded twice while I lived there. Beware of using the free storage space down there because of this.
My sister, daughter, and I have lived here for just over four years. Mark is an amazing landlord. When ever we have an issue he is on top of it. The apartments are spacious and ours is unique. As we have a 3 bedroom with a utility basement!! I would not take the previous review as a mind changer. The person who wrote it was a horrible person. She yelled profanities to her kids and many other things that were a nightmare for us and others in the unit. If ever there is a unit available and you are in need of a place. I would strongly suggest Chateau West!!!
I have lived at this complex in a 2 bedroom for over 7 years. The owner/manager is great, answers my calls immediately every day of the week, and provides prompt maintenance whenever I call. Here, I get through right to the owner when I call, and he worked with me when I hit a rough patch a couple of years ago, and is approachable and friendly. I seriously doubt that a negative review of this place is even legitimate as I've had nothing but positive experiences here. I would recommend it and have recommended it to colleagues and friends many times.
My small family of four moved in here hoping to stay for a couple of years since we we're saving up for a house and the rental amount was reasonable for a 3br. But 2 weeks after we moved in that's when the terror began. Long story short, the manager is rude, he discriminated my children and myself, he's assaulted me and harassed and threatened my family. And there's a pest problem that never seems to go away. He's a terrible person. If I were you I would not move here!!!! If I could give a proper rating I say 000000.
