Property Ratings at 792 Columbus Avenue
In October of this past year, we rented one of the renovated "so-called 1 bedroom apartments" (for upper west-side $ market prices) with the promise that building upgrades and renovations would be completed within a few months. 9 months later and there is no sign that corridor rugs will be replaced, elevator doors cleaned and/or upgraded, etc. Additionally, the building maintenance is very poor. As concerns the front desk security, there is none. People come and go while the incompetents sitting at the front desk do not bother to where they are going, or calling up to the apartment to ask if we're expecting someone. This is not a secure building or safe situation. It gets even worst: My niece was visiting with us and left the key in the apartment in error. I was not home, so I told here to go to front desk for them to call me so that I could authorize the front desk to give her the spare key kept there. When she approached the front desk, the person covering the entrance gave her the key without asking for her ID, without asking her to sign for it, OR giving me a call to authorize her entry. THIS IS NOT A PLACE YOU WANT TO PAY HIGH RENT FOR OR TO LIVE IN. Poorly managed and maintained.
I live an work in Manhattan and take the 1 train to Columbus Circle. I love the fact that it only takes 15 minutes for me to get to work while also living in an up and coming neighborhood like Harlem. super close to Wholefoods and great shops and markets during the weekend.
