Property Ratings at 80 Seward Apartments
I didn't even complete my entire year lease here. I moved in thinking the place had charm and a lot of sunlight in the apartment but I instantly regretted moving in. There were roaches everywhere from my neighbor across the hall. There were always people out front, blocking the doors day and night. There were people across the street blaring music all day and night in the summer. My across the street neighbor kept letting an unhoused person come in and wander the halls. The hallways and stairwells get so hot that he ended up passing away in the stairwell and the roofers found him the next morning. There also was an incident where two guys on my floor were pounding on a door and screaming from a few hours. They chased each other in the hallway fighting and even used the fire extinguisher in the hallway to spray the other person, which that stuff from the extinguisher got all over my door. I had footage of this on my Ring camera. I eventually called the police and because I couldn't come downstairs to let them in the locked building door they couldn't do anything. I told them I did not feel safe leaving my apartment with them fighting in my hallway but the police had no way to get in. This place is not safe and knowing if you call the police, they can't get it, is scary. The white stuff from the fire extinguisher got sort of mopped up but they never cleaned my door and it was all over my door until I moved out. I called and emailed the footage of this event to the property management and they did nothing. I never heard back with any resolution either. I ended up moving in with my partner but they told me if I ended my lease early I would forfeit my security deposit AND I would have to pay rent until it was rented out again or until my lease ended-whichever came first. So I ended up having to pay rent at this awful place even though I didn't live there. They also did not clean my apartment before I moved in. It was FILTHY and I spent a week scrubbing before I moved my stuff in and it still wasn't clean. Don't fall for the cheap prices, it is NOT worth it. I didn't ever feel safe living here. Oh and all these event that happened were from May to November. So within 6 months.
Management here is AWFUL! Same issues as the other reviews, please save yourself the trouble and do not move here
Management seems to be well aware of the bug and rodent problem but the lease states clearly they do nothing about it. Took me a while before I had a problem but when I did the problems wouldn’t stop. There is no on site manager and it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone at the company for issues. I lived for two weeks with a hole in my ceiling because i didn’t realize the management company outsourced their maintenance staff and kept getting jerked around by one guy. I called the company and was told someone would call me right back from the office. Never got the call but the maintenance man did text me and say he wasn’t helping me anymore. I emailed them complaining and asking for discount on my rent and got no reply. Emailed someone I knew would answer and all I got was essentially him stating “that’s not something I handle.” And I told him I figured but it was nice to get a reply from someone and hoped he would direct me to anyone who could help. He didn’t. Neighbor across the hall caused the entire hallway to smell bad often. When someone called authorities to do a wellness check all the management company did was call around to tenants to see if they were okay, no explanation or anything the next day. If it hadn’t been for me following the fire department and police outside to get more info I wouldn’t have known that my neighbor had an “infestation, mice and bugs everywhere.” -words from a firefighter. All in all the building isn’t taken care of, the management company could care less, rarely ever answers email or phone calls. There’s no transparency or care involved at all and I know the price is inviting but don’t let it sway you. It’s not worth it at all.
The property managers changed 5 times during my 1.5 years. I asked if pests were in the building prior to signing my lease and was told no. My first night, while cleaning I found dead roaches. I literally had to move carefully to reduce critters from coming i.e. no dishes, make sure toilet seat is down, and make sure the faucets are off. Im VERY glad to have not notice there were mice. Horrible experience, do not MOVE HERE!
Do not move here roaches and mice running threw the whole building they do not take care of their property, never assist with maintenance issues, they basically tell you to handle all pest issues, the the the buzzer doesn't work, random people roam the building all day and night it's not a safe environment for anyone PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I thought I found a steal due to the rent but this place is infested with roaches and mice. They sent an exterminator who basically said the building is old and there was nothing he could do. Elevator is faulty, the buzzers for entry don’t work, and some neighbors don’t keep clean places which causes odors in the hall
