Highland Park lies about seven miles south of downtown Savannah, just far enough to give the neighborhood a peaceful quality while still being within an easy 20-minute drive of all the action. Residents enjoy the quiet of the suburbs by strolling along the tree-lined streets or from the comfort of their rental home.
The Savannah Botanical Gardens sits on the east side of the neighborhood, a great destination for families. The grounds burst with a variety of gardens and water features, even containing a children's garden for youngsters interested in nature. Adults can also enjoy a little alone time at the Bacon Park Golf Course, minutes from the neighborhood.
Locals don't just play in the great outdoors. They often lounge around at Sweet Potatoes, a restaurant that features all their favorite Southern foods, from corn pudding and lemon collard greens to fried catfish and peach-glazed chicken. A stop at nearby Byrd Cookie Company tops off the day.

Property Ratings at 8000 Waters Apartments
Ever since the new company took over and the front office staff was replaced it has been IMPOSSIBLE to access the front office during posted business hours. 4 out of 5 times you go they are randomly closed throughout the day and miss package deliveries..... and if you need to pick up a package before work? good luck! Chances are they are closed and you'll have to wait another day. Maintenance is has also gotten worse. They used to be a lot better and was always friendly but now its like pulling teeth to get even important things checked out. Had my bathroom ceiling falling apart for almost 8 MONTHS before someone was able to come and take care of it. Most of the time I spend my own money to fix things because I don't feel like waiting for weeks to have shoddy fix. Also beware- they advertise their fireplace's heavily but don't tell you until you move in that you can't actually use them!
This place was amazing to live at when Krystal was in the office.. Ever since the new management came they are towed people cars and don’t have that much parking space here .. This year I will not be renewing my lease it’s time to get out .. I been living here for about 6 years now .. I never did a review but if I can help someone to not deal with this headache of a place
Fist of all the advertisement is bogus, this place is worst than the projects. Neighbor's are loud they urinate in the stairway and they steal. Fireplace can't be burn anymore but they make use get rental insurance. The maintenance crew is rude and they can care less about fixing anything. I pray that the owner reads these reviews because changes needs to be made. I will never tell anyone to move here it's the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in to be on the Southside. Oh when it rains it floods bad it looked like Tybee Island last month.
It's beautiful and the staff is wonderful, but the people in my building were SO sketchy. Overheard a lot of fights and disturbing outbursts, had several weird/creepy interactions with neighbors and random visitors, and strange people went in and out of the building all the time. It got very annoying living there. If it weren't for my neighbors I would have been a lot happier, but they made living there uncomfortable and stressful. All the other people I met at the complex looked perfectly normal so I may have just been unlucky. With the poor soundproofing though you will really want to have good neighbors.
lots of loud neighbors, CANT use the fireplace which is advertised. Nothing gets fixed, the gym is dirty, and everyone lies to get a free months rent for good reviews! I could go on and on like my toilets that run all day long!
This place is not what it seems and the people only care about money regret even choosing this property
We have been at 8000 Waters for eight years. We love our apartment. Our utilities are low. What’s the key for low electric bills? Don’t cover the heating and air vents with furniture and other items. The grounds are kept clean. The office staff is very helpful and very friendly. We think of them as part of our family. My wife and I grew up in Savannah/Chatham County. We lived in many areas. This is a safe and quite place to live.
I love the community! I’ve seen a few different managers in the office, however the management team now is pretty awesome!!!! They are friendly, and very nice to deal with. They greet you with a smile and are eager to assist you. Maintenance is very nice and knowledgeable. Any issues or concerns we have they take care of it. So if you are looking for a great place to live, with an awesome location, this is it!
The staff has always been kind and helpful to me. All of my maintenance requests have been addressed in a couple days or usually less. The appliances are in good condition and seem relatively new. The tubs and toilets could stand to be replaced, but other than that the condition of the apartment itself is good. The location is so amazing, so close to Kroger and the mall and about any food options you could ask for, and 10 minutes from Hunter Army Airfield where my husband is stationed and only 15 minutes or so from downtown Savannah.
I really liked this place at first. The apartments aren't super super updated, but they work nicely and they're large. Moving because they're trying to increase my rent significantly and there have been a rash of car break ins. It's happened to at least 6 people that I know of in this complex over the last 3 months at separate times. All from locked cars. I'm not sure how the theives are getting in, because there is no broken glass, but they are and taking anything they can grab. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be a problem if the management has done something about it, but they haven't. I haven't heard anything from them other than "don't keep anything in your car." Fair, but they've been making some "improvements" like painting the inside breezeways and I think that money could have been much better managed to go towards cameras or a courtesy officer.
8000 Waters is absolutely horrible!!! The staff, management and the apartment we lived in was DISTUGTING!! The residents were just as awful.....from drug dealers, to people having wild parties, and the domestic violence we witnessed on more than one occasion, I can say this is by far the worst, most unsafe apartment complex in Savannah. They also DO NOT notify you about your payments and what you owe them!! They NEVER fixed our broken toilet, our bathroom ceiling that completely fell down, and the leak on our porch we had for 8 months while living there until we broke our lease and then we were stuck paying money for maintenance which clearly was there fault and was NEVER fixed even after multiple attempts/calls to the office. Needless to say, I would HIGHLY NOT recommend this place to any human that's breathing.
I signed on for a four month lease but loved it so much, I stayed for six. Management was willing to work with my indecisiveness, which made me want to stay longer. They make an effort to get to know their tenants; that or they just have great memories. If you're honest with them, they'll be honest with you; that simple. There were no hidden fees as they were very upfront about their charges. I made sure to detail every "blemish" of the apartment upon move in, and they had most of it fixed within the week even though they were minor things I really wasn't concerned with - I just didn't want to be blamed for what was already there. Maintenance staff was very friendly and trustworthy. I also had trouble with the AC, but once I visited the office and expressed my concern with the heat, they sent someone over that day. If it's a maintenance emergency, I suggest talking with them instead of sending a complaint. They understand! They have lives, too. When I'd run into maintenance on one of their rounds, they'd even ask if the repairs were satisfactory. They're great with pets, too. Wonderful dog park with shade and water. Not too happy about their decision to switch from grass to wood chips in the park, but it's a small compromise. The pet deposit is extremely low compared to other places, and they allow large dogs. I always felt safe there. Being a single woman with a big chicken for a dog, I had no issues walking him at night. He's very skiddish around men, but he loved the maintenance guys and vice versa, so I was not afraid to leave him home alone with them. In all, I've moved four different times in my three years in Savannah, and 8000 waters has provided the only enjoyable experience thus far.
So thankful I moved out of this complex. The girls there are so rude to me every time I have a conversation with them and treat me with disrespect. They do not take into consideration any of my issues nor do they care. They also take almost all of your security deposit back with them when you move out with sketchy excuses as to why they did so. Save yourself the time and money and do not rent from them.
Please read my experience so this does not happen to anyone else. First off my husband is in the military and we have lived in many different places and this is beyond the worst place we have ever lived. Make sure you look at the apartment you are going to be renting because the show apartment is exactly that. A show. The real apartments look NOTHING like that. The walls have so much paint that was just thrown on there it looks horrible. None of the doors lined up therefore not a single door would close in the apartment. The towel and toilet paper racks constantly fell off the walls. If you had the light on in the closet the bathroom plug ins would not work. The ceiling fan glass light randomly fell. Luckily it didn't fall on anyone. In the summer time our little one bedroom one bathroom was 80 degree and higher. We complained many times and management always found an excuse. Our a/c unit would stop working all the time. A lot of tenants had the same issue. Our power bill was $400 plus a month trying to cool down the apartment which never happened. It got so bad we decided to break our lease. We had to give a 60 day notice. We moved out in August but had to keep paying rent till October. I did the walk through in October and everything was fine. We got a balance of zero in the mail. Thinking that was all. 7 months later I get a phone call from the insurance company saying the manager filed a claim against us in August accusing us of water damage. Not once did the apartment notify us of this. Once we got to the office another employee pulled up our account and saw where we did not owe anything and when asked to print that for us she refused to and said "the manager might have EDITED the account and she didn't want to print it out if the manager is saying something different" keep in mind we already had the letter mailed to us with a ZERO BALANCE. The manager called us later very rudely saying we didn't disconnect the washer correctly which is a lie. She was beyond rude and unprofessional and how she got a job beats me. NO ONE deserves to be talked to the way she spoke to us. Her attitude was disgusting. She LOUDLY kept interrupting and talking over us. When asked who her boss was she said she would not give us that information. The manager has a horrible attitude and there are numerous tenants that will say the same!! So disappointed to see this is how 8000 waters treats our veterans!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! YOU WILL BE SORRY!
The office staff is rude, loud, an makes mistakes when the set up property accounts. They are unapologetic about errors and seem to generally not care about maintaining positive relationships with their tenants.
I have been living at 8000 Waters for over a year now, and overall it has been a positive experience. Maintenance issues tend to be resolved within 3 business days, and the property is well maintained. The only issue that I have with the complex is my electricity bill during the summer is sky high. Last month alone our bill was $380, No that's not a typo, and no we are not behind on our bill. On average during the summer month's our electricity bill averages around $300 per month, mind you our apartment is ~1000 SqFt. Last month our electricity bill was so expensive I asked my neighbor how much her's was and she told $450, all I could think was thank God that was not our bill. I honestly think the apartments are not insulated properly, this coupled with us living on the top floor is probably causing the electricity to be so high. So my suggestion for you if you want to move here DO NOT LIVE ON THE TOP FLOOR, OR ELSE YOU WILL PAY THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR ELECTRICITY THAT FOR AN APARTMENT THAT YOU WOULD PAY FOR A HOUSE.
