Located about fifteen miles west of Manhattan, the borough of Caldwell is a charming community that combines the convenience of the suburbs with distinctive small-town flair. Bloomfield Avenue runs through the center of town, forming the main commercial district – this is where you’ll find everything from the local grocers to popular hangouts like the Ringside Pub to the historic Bow Tie Caldwell Cinemas.
Grover Cleveland Park on the south side is a great place to spend time outdoors, with footpaths, playgrounds, and a scenic pond. Caldwell is the home of Caldwell University, a small Catholic liberal arts college on the south side of town. With its close proximity to New York, excellent public schools, and low crime rate, Caldwell is a popular spot for commuters raising families.

Property Ratings at 87 Elm Rd
Location is good....Lincoln school right behind the apartment, bus to NYC a couple blocks away. HOWEVER, after living here for over 8 years I have dealt with the following: 1) cockroaches infested the building in 2010. It took the landlord over 6 months to finally fix this problem 2) There are literally only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the entire building (32 units). Half the time one of them is broken. You will end up taking your things to a laundromat if you ever want them dry. 3) building maintenance is almost non-existent. When broken things are "fixed" it's usually with used items. The lawn is almost never watered in the summer and is always yellow unless it rains. Steps around the building are often loose or broken, and cheap patch work repairs are done. 4) Now (as of 2016) the building has a bedbug infestation that is running 6 months and not been solved by either the owner or the Caldwell Health department. 5) Bathrooms are very, very old and run down. We once had 2 entire rows of tile above the bathtub fall off all at once into the tub, luckily no one was in the tub at the time. Took them a week to fix it (with mismatched tiles). Yes they allow pets. In fact, there are pets in almost every unit. That may be a plus for you pet owners but for those who aren't, it's not so great if you get the picture. The units are affordable, but you absolutely get what you pay for (well, actually, even that is debatable). Oh and any time there is a storm of any significance, expect to lose power, sometimes for days, and no there are no generators for backup power so hopefully you enjoy candle light.
I've lived here since 2013, and it's great. The school is close. The Library is close even the church is close. The room are big and spacious. The bathroom is big and the living room too. The kitchen is pretty. What I love the most is that is pet friendly. So friendly that even the owner has some pets.I wish I could give it more stars but I can only do 5
