While we always like to hear from our residents, we’re sorry to see that your experience does not reflect the high standard of living we strive to provide. We want all of the features in your home to be in the best condition possible. We encourage you to call us or drop by the office so we can better evaluate the situation. We want to assure you that we do extensive research to make sure we are providing our residents with fair rates and that all of our rental prices are based on current area market values. That said, if you have any questions about your current costs, we would be happy to speak with you directly at the leasing office. We would appreciate a second chance to impress you with our excellent service, so we encourage you to reach out to the office at your convenience.
First, if I could give the 909 Walnut 500 stars, I would! From the day I came in to view the property to the day I sadly moved out, I had nothing less than a fantastic experience. Anthony is the MOST AMAZING, caring, and friendly person in all of Kansas City. Believe me, he is the BEST! He makes an effort to greet all tenants by name, is very kind, and goes above and beyond with reasonable requests, as do Justin and Meghan. He and the entire 909 team is top-notch. The entire team, maintenance included, was always friendly and made me feel welcome throughout my residency and even after. The maintenance staff is very friendly and funny, which is on top of them handling any things that pop up very quickly and correctly. I had a few *odd "emergencies" come up, and they never were rude nor made me feel bad in any way, even when it was a simple fix. They were always highly proficient and professional. ? This building is a gem in KC. It had been remodeled and updated beautifully while keeping its original aesthetic. The apartments are lovely, large, and very beautifully done. They are very quiet! It was very, very rare that I could hear anyone, which is a plus. The views from almost any unit are breathtaking. Also, let's not forget the fantastic private rooftop park! It is the perfect place to take a stroll, eat, or just relax. The property management also hosts really great resident events regularly, which have all been fun. If you ever get the opportunity to reside in the 909 Walnut, DO IT! I hate that I had to move and only did so because of a relocation to another state. If I were still in KC, I would have never left the 909. However, if I ever find myself back in the area, this will be where I would live again, in a heartbeat! The 909 Walnut is a true gem in KC!
Warning to new residents. Former residents are leaving since the 24/7 security was replaced with a part-time "concierge" service that is just window dressing for a body sitting at a desk. New "smart home" electronic entry services are a joke, often leaving the building unlocked. Management has leased unoccupied apartments to shady Chicago company that rents the air bnb units by the day to people who use it by the hour for their friends (often called "John"). Cleaning service has drastically been cut back. Our once friendly community has disappeared as management cares more about cutting corners rather than making residents happy.

Thank you for your feedback! I know it has been a while since this review was written. We have ended our partnership with the short term stay company, and have added another cleaning day into our housekeepers schedule. The smart home technology has all been updated and the network is running without issues, we know this took some time! Our front desk is staffed 8:30am-6pm on the weekdays and 9am-4pm on Saturdays, the building is controlled access during the times the office is not open. We are so excited about the improvements we have made in the meantime and will continue to make in the coming months! If you would like to discuss further we would be happy to sit down and meet with you! Thank You for being a valued resident at 909 Walnut! -Justin
Since taking over, they have removed 24x7 security. In addition to keeping the place more secure, they used to handle issues like fire alarms, electrical issues, and elevator problems. Last night, we had 3 fire alarms after 11PM. The fire department had to walk each floor (30) and then wait for someone to arrive. This morning, we awoke to elevators not working. Now, we have no water in the building. Wish I could escape this lease. Do NOT rent here.
I used to love living in this beautiful building. However, since new management has taken over, the building has quickly deteriorated. Below are some examples: -frequent electrical issues that trigger the fire alarms, resulting in frequent evacuations (6 false alarms in the past month alone) -elimination of 24 hour security, the Metro Security number they replaced it with does not answer -elimination of the concierge -very loud construction on/around the building with no end date in sight -little to no communication from management -rotating door of management, changes every few months, no consistency Worcester Properties is choosing to make changes to cut costs, not caring how it affects residents. The fire alarm situation is inherently unsafe, as we never know when a true fire happens because there are false alarms every week. These alarms last 45 minutes in the middle of the night because there is no one on site to shut it off. For the reasons above and more, I can not recommend 909 Walnut at this time, despite it being a beautiful building in a great location.

Thank you so much for your valued feedback! We would love to meet with you about these concerns! We know this review was written quite a while ago, but we are hoping most of these issues have been resolved. We should have done a better job of communicating our capital plan when it came to improvements, however, we hope that you are enjoying the updates that have been made and the updates that are pending. As I am sure you are aware we had major electrical issues that required a major repair and since then we have experienced little fire alarm activity besides the occasional burnt French fry! We will soon have staff living on site to address any further issues that arise during the evening time hours. Our overnight security company is very responsive and have been great with taking care of issues as they arise! We hope your experience has improved. If you have further feedback you would like to share we would love to speak with you about this further! Thank you for being a valued resident of 909 Walnut!
So I have lived in 909 for 3 years now and when I moved in, 909 was run by a different management company that I trusted and did a great job. Recently, a company called Worcester have taken over and this building is slowly beginning to deteriorate. When I moved in, 909 had 24/7 security with a door person who worked the front desk. It seems as though this new management, Worcester, cares more about cutting costs than the safety of their tenants and have recently gotten rid of the door person. This has caused a tremendous headache with unnecessary fire alarms going off, packages not being delivered, and has created a less safe environment for their tenants. Communication is also another area Worcester lacks in. We are constantly out of the loop with building updates and they rarely respond to my emails in a timely manner. 909 used to be a great and safe community; however, these times are changing under Worcester. Please be aware before you consider living here. I will not be renewing my lease once it is up.
They have started remodeling the units, upgraded the fitness center, lobby, game room, vending area, etc.. It already has changed a lot of the older look of the building. They have started cleaning the sidewalks and parking garage which always looked terrible before. Doing building repairs and upgrades all over the place. They seem to want to own this for the long haul and not just keep slapping duct tape over issues. I'll admit they removed some of the things we used to do but it doesn't change the building or value. Most of us didn't go to half of those things anyway.

Thank you! We're psyched about your 5-star rating and feedback as we are always looking to better serve our valued residents. It is important to us that we provide a comfortable home and community, and we will be sure to look into your suggestions. Let us know if you need our attention, your happiness is vital to us.
This is such an amazing building and the apartments are beautiful but since the new owners took over, in late December 2018, it has taken a drastic turn. Worcester management has slowly eroded the things that made this place special (great and caring office staff, great onsite maintenance techs, the tenants, and amenities). First of all, ignore all the previous glowing reviews (you’ll notice there are few since December 2018). So far since the new management took over: 1) It has been a revolving door of staff in the leasing office. No one knows what is going on. 2) The maintenance techs are slower to respond (days vs. hours) and generally more sloppy/messy. 3) There is a huge communication gap between management and the residents. This is a premium building in a great location, but mismanagement is chipping away at the specialness that once was 909. Until there are drastic changes, I can’t recommend you consider living here.
Management is careless and does not know what they are doing. Our lobby is under construction and we were notified 1 1/2 business days before they started. The same for our gym and they are not planning on accommodating us during this period so everyone who uses the gym will be forced go go else where while our rent stays the same. Go elsewhere. There are so many places to choose from downtown and this is just not worth your time. Please, choose anywhere else but here.
