Property Ratings at Abberly Village Apartment Homes
With having to move unexpectantly ive reached out to multiple apartment complexes, most have not be very helpful or very knowledgeable...it has not been a great experience to say the least. I called Abberly Village and spoke with Alexis. She very polite, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. We set up a tour the very next day. I got there a little early but she was ready. As we toured the different areas I was impressed. Very nice and clean complex, nice amenities. The apartment itself was really nice and spotless, looked like no one had lived there. From start to finish that experience really made me want to live there, I may have to rework the budget. You get what you pay for and I think it may be worth it. Great Experience!

Pricing is well above market average for the area and amenities provided and this price will increase about 6% every year for no reason. Amenities are never working properly, gate is consistently broken and left open 24/7, pool constantly is closed for maintenance, and most of the workout machines are damaged. The management office does not communicate effectively at all, we had an apparent leak in our building which lasted an entire weekend and we only got two email telling us there were repairs happening and that they were unable to repair it so they will be back Monday (which left us with horrible water pressure all weekend). You really have to coax management into communicating with you. They do not enforce their large dog breed restrictions by the way. I have seen rottweilers and German shepherds dogs around which are both on the no list for dog breeds. There's a weird mix of families, young professionals, college students, weed smokers, and middle aged divorced men living in this complex. I've just noticed a huge down tick in quality since 2016.
The maintenance people are super lazy and management is lackluster. The apartments are okay but you can tell they cheaped out wherever they could get away with it. The gate and pool are ALWAYS broken. Someone ran their car into the front gate on Halloween and we did not see a functioning gate until well after the new year (and certainly no rent discount for the time period where they were not providing the amenities stated in the lease contract). They want to price themselves like they are high quality but they are simply mediocre. The mailboxes are confusing as the numbers do not correspond to the apartment numbers so mail is misplaced ALL the time, the front office opened a large package we had delivered and didn't let us know we had a package for pickup, management does not communicate with residence efficiently so they never give a full 24 hour notice before coming into your apartment (they put letters in your door the afternoon before even though they have the capability to email residents), our sink was full of dishes as we were out the night before and didn't have time to clear it before leaving for work the next morning so the maintenance worker didn't change the air filter and just left the new one leaning in the wall in our apartment with no note indicating why it was left this way, management sent us an email reprimanding our living standards and that maintenance couldn't preform their job because of it (we called management that day and they said there were no specifics only that there was an obstruction which we made sure the door to the filter closet was completely clear). We are happily leaving this spring.
We Lived at Abberly Village from August 2017 to March 2018 while looking for our new home. The front office staff was excellent and always helpful in addressing any concerns. The grounds were always kept very clean. I was particularly impressed with the maintenance staff. They do preventative maintenance here. They replace furnace filters and check smoke detectors, etc on a schedule. Most apartments just react to problems.. At Abberly Village they work to prevent problems. We did have a problem with our A/C which was fixed the same day as reported. I think one reason they do so well is that their maintenance staff is full time at the site as opposed to the apartment complex my Mother-in-law lives at, where they do no preventative maintenance and have to have hired contractors come out to fix each problem, which takes days. We would definitely recommend Abberly Village as a place to live.
From the moment I stepped into the office doors i have felt right at home! The staff was very warm and welcoming from day one! I moved here from out of town not really knowing the area but the wonderful location of this place being right in the middle of Columbia allowed me to easily become familiar with the roads and all shopping attractions here. Any questions I have had the staff was happy to help. I went to resident event and met a lot of nice people. The price is reasonable considering the washer/dryer included with the convenient Valet trash. The gated community makes me feels very safe being a lone in a new city. You cannot put a price on safety so i don't mind the price of my beautiful apartment. I am still current at Abberly Village and I will definitely be referring this place to new people and friends i meet!
I've only lived in Abberly for 2 years and I've had some really frustrating experiences. My rent has increased EVERY year. But the worst thing that I've experienced at Abberly was when a pest control worker burst into my apartment with a MASTER key and tried to spray my apartment (the wrong apartment) for bugs. Thankfully I was there to stop him, but when I wrote an e-mail to the management company asking them to explain how and why this man was able to roam around Abberly with a master key and no supervision, they defended the pest control worker and said he simply had the wrong apartment number. Let me repeat- Management was completely unapologetic and stated that it is their POLICY to give a MASTER KEY to contractors (such as pest control, carpet cleaners, etc) and let them roam around Abberly without supervision. This makes me wonder how many master keys of Abberly Village are roaming around, and how unsafe that policy is.
I completely agree with the previous review. These apartments are ridiculously priced. I paid $300 less for hardwood floors, black marble counter tops, and pest control at my previous place. We had a bug issue for months after moving in. I finally had to speak with the property manager to get something done about it. The walls are super thin. We had noisy neighbors we complained about for weeks, and they just simply treated us as if they didn't believe us. The only saving grace is the staff. They are super friendly. But are we paying $1200 a month for a smile? Please, shop around. Unless you have the money to blow, you can find just as nice or nicer for cheaper.
Abberly Village apartment is all glory and a beautiful facade Utopia from the gorgeous pictures headlined on their website. From the beach themed pool to the giant rainbow colored pots that spew water. Sure it all sounds fancy and sounds like a place you'd want to be all summer, but that's just it! Only the summer time is worth spending your hot simmering days by the pool and enjoying these "fine amenities" all for the great price of $1,304. Not to mention the excellent ambience noise of the kids running back and forth all day and night keeping my family and I awake til the wee hours. For $1,304 we could be paying two mortgages, three car payments, or groceries to feed my family for months. I guess the extra amenities isn't really worth the price and deep sea pocket diving. We chose this apartment due to the attraction, gated community, and the security. When it all boils down (no pun intended) they can have the pool and waterfalls, I'd trade that all for some peace, quiet and less rent.
I've finally moved out of my parents! Being that this is my first apartment I think it's amazing! I've seen lots of different apartments that friends have lived at and this is by far the best! Very pleased with my decision to live here at Abberly Village!!
Abberly Village is an awesome complex located right off I-26 in West Columbia. The location is great (minutes from Irmo and downtown). The staff is very friendly and quickly address any questions/concerns. I highly recommend Abberly Village if you are moving to the area!
When our son and daughter in law came to Mooresville, NC with the good news we were going to be grandparents we thought that would be wonderful but we were a long way from Columbia, SC where they lived. We found out that our landlord had a complex in West Columbia and we could transfer there. We did and could not be happier with our new apartment. We are right behind the Lexington Medical Center main hospital which is at the entrance to our complex. It is very quite, only 3 years old and the apartments have nice floor plans and a great management team. Best of all we are approx. 10 miles from our new grandchild. Life is great for a couple of seniors.
