Nestled in the Red Hills Region of Southwest Georgia, Thomasville is a charming small town steeped in a rich history. Residents and visitors alike can take a glimpse into the Victorian Era with numerous plantations, museums, and historic sites strewn throughout Thomasville, which was then known as the “Winter Resort of the South.”
Today, Thomasville is the self-proclaimed City of Roses, boasting an array of beautiful rose gardens in addition to an annual Rose Festival. Thomasville hosts plenty of other family-friendly events year round as well, including the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Festival, Thomasville Antiques Show and Sale, Due South, Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival, and the Victorian Christmas Festival.
Downtown Thomasville is brimming with delectable restaurants, local shops, boutiques, and art galleries in well-preserved historic buildings along a picturesque Main Street, attracting many residents and visitors on a regular basis. Quick access to U.S.

Property Ratings at Abbey Lake
My unit was an older 1 bedroom in the single story buildings. I rented here for 10 months for a work assignment and the unit was very serviceable (although my unit lacked a dishwasher) and clean although quite dated. Management was very responsive to the two minor maintenance issues, both resolved within 24 hours. Location is quiet and access to shopping and restaurants is excellent (although nothing is really very far away in Thomasville).
There's three eras of apartment built here, my experience is with the oldest single bedroom units. Leasing office tries their best to get repairs done as they can but telling a tenant that air conditioning is not an emergency repair in 100 degree weather is irresponsible.
Let's face it, Thomasville is a prime destination for those seeking to get away from big cities without being totally isolated... Who want a little southern charm without getting deep fried in it. Abbey Lake is top of the line when it comes to apartment living in this environment. I live in the one bedroom apartments, and I have never been more at peace sound and interaction wise in a apartment complex before. It is definitely spacious enough that, compared to other places I have lived, I don't feel cramped. They aren't the newest units, nor are they the most aesthetically pleasing, but those two cons shouldn't sway judgement of the overall strengths of Abbey Lake. The patio (which aren't screened in) and outdoor storage areas are my favorite, and each unit has big sinks and open cooking areas. Downtown Thomasville is 5 minutes away, a community park complex is right behind the apartments, there's a lake out front (I'll give you two guesses what it's name is, and the first doesn't count)... not to mention I haven't had anything but the best service from the staff, which really helps when dealing with the normal issues that arise with any apartment complex, leases, policies, and all that mess. If you're moving to Thomasville, I definitely suggest you grab a sweet tea, your best fishing shirt, and stop by Abbey Lake and make your living arrangements one less thing to worry about.
