You can create your own work of blown glass at the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio.
In addition to its creative culture, Tacoma offers residents and visitors access to world-renowned museums, unique venues, and outdoor recreation. Property Ratings at Abbey Lane Apartments
Luxury apartments include a horrible paint job. They need to hire a new painter respectfully. When my mom moved in last year she was too anxious to even mention it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the paint job didn’t meet expectations and that your mother felt uncomfortable mentioning it. We always aim to provide a high-quality living experience, and we appreciate your honest input. We’ll be sure to review this matter and work on improvements for future residents. If there’s anything else we can do to assist or make things right, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We value your feedback and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
These apartments are cheaper than others in the same area of similar size. It is for good reason. The manager is rude and does not take concerns seriously, like doesn't even act like she cares. When you need something fixed you might as well hire your own contractor and pay for it because if you wait for them you'll be waiting a long time. They have this gross apartment smell that i cant explain. It was subtle at first but now me and all my stuff always smell like abbey lane. Maybe its the mold other reviewers have mentioned. Would make sense why i have had new and unresolved respiratory issues since moving in.
We got professional environmental testing done on our apartment after multiple nights of my boyfriend waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I went to the apartment manager crying and begging for help, to be moved units or something because this was scary. They would not do anything or let us out of our lease. So we had to do it ourselves. We paid $300 for professional testing that determined the entire apartment had a serious mold problem. That wasn't enough for Dobler management to take us seriously so we then had to pay a lawyer to help get us out of our lease and our money back. This was in October. It's not February and we just now got our money back from them because they dragged their feet for so long even with our attorney. We got our money back for our deposits. But we suffered other damages we did not even ask for-legal fees, environmental testing, medical bills, missed work and storage fees while we did not have a place to live. They do not care about people here. Only money.

There is a ton of water damage around the windows of this place. Also obvious water damage in the ceiling. Read another review about mold and there is very likely a bad mold problem. Have had multiple neighbors over the past couple of months complain of mold issues.

It's always distressing to us when we hear that a resident is unhappy with the condition of their apartment home when they move in. Please complete a maintenance request in your resident portal or email us directly so that we can complete one for you and get our Maintenance Tech out to look at any moisture concerns. Please know that we have an open door policy so if you would like to have a one on one conversation our office hours are: Monday - Friday 9AM - 6PM Saturday 10AM - 5PM abbeylane@dmcimail.com 253-565-2552 We look forward to hearing from you. This place is lovely with an amazing view of Mt. Rainier even though the property is an aging lumbering giant. The place is showing it’s age but they continue to work on it. They’ve had a high turnover of managers and receptionists but I really like the new manager Linda. She really seems to care and tries very hard to help no matter what the problem, though she looks exhausted most of the time. I hope she stays. I’ve been here for seven years and I’m pretty happy here.

Thank you for this wonderful review and kind thoughts. We value all of our residents here at Abbey Lane and strive to do our best.
After the first night of staying in our apartment, my boyfriend started having severe upper respiratory symptoms that would resolve soon after he left the apartment for work each day. We notified management right away and were told that we could hire anyone we wanted to clean the carpets (and pay for it ourselves). The symptoms began to worsen, he developed pneumonia and had to go to the emergency room. By this time, my cat had also developed upper respiratory symptoms. We told management and they didn't really show any concern. The doctor recommended my boyfriend not return to this apartment, based on the fact that this was the only place he was having symptoms, until developing pneumonia. He tested negative for Covid. He got immediately better when we made other temporary living arrangements. We took the doctor's note to apartment management, who again showed no concern. We asked to be let out of our lease or be moved to another unit, any sort of resolution because we are desperate at this point and have nowhere to live. They offered to let us out of our lease, but would not be refunding anything. Basically we would be out about $3000 and we did not even stay here a week. We also have now incurred medical bills and many other expenses. Nobody will talk to us or offer any sort of resolution. It is extremely concerning that a major health and safety issue is just being completely ignored. Do not live here or any Dobler management property.
I have been here for a while now and it started pretty well. But recently it became a nightmare. There are several loud vehicles here and alot that passes the property every day at all hours. Including nights. Also we are dealing with really loud neighbors and also some that smokes cigarettes and cannabis and there is complaints put in but nothing changed. Even emailed corporate but have not received any response of the situation. Its nice apartments and the office staff are nice but under the conditions i have to live i cant recommend it.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry to hear that your stay has become less enjoyable due to noise and smoking disturbances. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when it impacts your comfort at home. Please know that we take these concerns seriously, and we’re reviewing our processes to ensure that complaints, particularly regarding noise and smoking, are addressed more effectively. It’s great to hear that you’ve had positive interactions with our office staff, and we want to make sure the living conditions match that same level of service. We apologize for the lack of response from corporate, and we encourage you to reach out to our office again so we can further escalate your concerns and work together to find a resolution. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we hope to improve your experience moving forward.
The sign at the entrance boasts 'luxury living'. Really? CONSTANT noise from children, heavy street traffic noise, gardeners & leaf blowers, hydraulic motors from industrial businesses, delivery trucks barreling through the property, trash trucks, sirens, & other noise from inconsiderate residents. Urban life at its worst. So noisy! And god forbid if the weather turned warm & you had to open windows - the noise really became unbearable. Some of it had to do with the unfortunate physical location and layout of that place, but a LOT of it was due to the management's refusal to deal with residents who broke the noise rules. Also not 'luxurious' is the fact that they got rid of the garbage disposals back when they renovated. They simply 'got tired of maintaining them'. Garbage disposals are pretty basic kitchen equipment. But nope, not there. The crappy washers and dryers that the units have are noisy and low capacity so if you need to wash anything bigger than a towel you will have to go to the local laundromat. Their website boasts of garages (there are none), pantries (there are none), fireplaces (only in the 2-bath units), and other non-existent features. The playground and the pool are situated right in the middle of the property, so no matter where you go on the property you had to listen to the constant screaming of children. No way to escape it. The no-smoking policy was a joke. I still had smoke from my neighbor's patio apartment wafting onto my patio & into the apartment & there were cigarette butts on the ground outside. Some residents and their guests smoked on the landing by their apartment. No consequences at all. I prayed for the day I could move out. With rent gouging going on in this area due to demand being high, it's no small feat to find something decent that is available. But thank God it happened! That place was horrible, unless maybe you are deaf or you simply are never home during the day. Don't believe 5-star reviews. They must be hand-picked by Management to shine a more flattering light on what life here is like. High price, low quality. That's Abbey Lane.
Property Manager at Abbey Lane Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience at Abbey Lane didn’t meet expectations. We understand how important a peaceful living environment is, and we apologize for the noise disruptions you’ve encountered. While some of the noise is unfortunately a result of our location, we are committed to addressing noise concerns within the community, and we’re reviewing our enforcement of noise policies to better support our residents. We also appreciate your comments regarding the garbage disposals and in-unit appliances. We understand how these features can impact daily living, and we’ll use this feedback as part of our ongoing efforts to improve. Regarding the no-smoking policy, we take these concerns seriously and are working to ensure proper enforcement so that everyone can enjoy a smoke-free environment. We apologize for any misunderstandings about the amenities listed on our website and will review the descriptions to ensure they accurately reflect what is available. We appreciate your time in sharing this feedback and wish you all the best in your new home. If you’d like to discuss anything further, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
I did a lot of research before renting an apartment and toured at least 20 and none of them felt right. A co-worker of mine recommended this place to me. I didn't even know it was here. She had a friend who lived here a couple years ago. When I called for availability they didn't have any. I came by and they showed me their model and I fell in love! It was exactly what I was looking for, the right location, the price and the apartment itself is exactly what I was looking for . I waited 2 months until something opened up and as soon as it did I submitted my application ( I had it all ready ) . Ive been here for a few months now and It feels like home .The whole process was so easy, the ladies in the office were so helpful. I work down the street so I can come home for lunch. It's just perfect!

Out looking for a new home? I suggest Abby Lane Apartment Homes. Beautiful roomy homes, its definitely something worth going to look at if you are on the hunt. Shopping is great and a close to a lot of restaurants also. Enjoy going to workout in the fitness room. Very quite here.

Thank you so very much for your kind and thoughtful comments. We truly appreciate it.
Both our cars were hit and run victims, our door had been kicked in previously resulting in a crack that went through the deadbolt's screw holes and made it useless, there was black mold in our bathroom ceiling vent that had been making us sick for months, and you can't leave your windows open without smelling cigarette smoke every night.
Property Manager at Abbey Lane Apartments, Responded To This Review
Abbey Lane is a smoke free apartment building and has been so for quite some time. Abbey Lane was remodeled 10 years ago down to studs and brand new. We feel you are either speaking pre-renovation/pre Management and sorry you had a bad experience at that time, but please we ask you to properly date your review as this information is inaccurate for current status.
I could write a 45-page essay on how bad the head manager is at this place, Liya , very rude. The apartment was ok, very dark and a lot of broken things. Carpets were off-gassing when I moved in a couple years ago and they gave me terrible headaches to the point that i could not live in my own home for some time. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

We are so sorry you feel you had a poor experience here. As you can see from other comments, we are used to hearing positive experiences here and Abbey Lane remains full, working off of a wait list, most times. Hi I live in the abbey lane apartments, I really like them, I have been living here for about a year and 3 months an love it. I like that everything is very close an the location is perfect I work in gig harbor so I don't need to drive far, an after work I usually go on a jog to chambers bay which is only 10 mins away. I really like it here every one is friendly I don't plan on moving out soon. It is a gated community you will really get that safe feeling when you drive in, it's very spacious but one thing I don't like is the recycling bins get full after a little while so there isn't room to put your things in there sometimes, but other than that I love this place an it's affordable I recommend Abbey lane for you
