The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at Academy Pointe Apartment Homes
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our time here, pool was great, area felt safe, lots of new shopping areas nearby, it was an excellent first place
Heads up: You will not have access to pool at all on Sundays and holidays, it's closed. If you work a day job and are not home Mon-Fri from 8 am - 5 pm you will not have access to your mail until Saturday as mailroom is locked and only open 8 am - 5 pm. Asked for expanded hours or keys for tenants and was ignored.
This was my first apartment living on my own and it was everything I needed as someone in their mid 20s. The complex is clean, quiet and safe. I would often come home late after work and never felt unsafe in any way getting home which is important especially as a single woman. Management and maintenance are all amazing and caring people. George will come fix something in your apartment immediately if you let him know. I lived here for nearly 4 and a half years and definitely would have stayed longer had my circumstances not changed and needed to be in a different part of town for work. Highly recommend living here. My studio was the perfect size for me and my cats and the one bedrooms are spacious and beautiful
I have lived here for almost 4 years. It is a safe building with an attentive manager. The studio is a good size. Pool is cleaned constantly. I've enjoyed my time here.
The management is horrible!!! They never answer the phone. Everything breaks, the cabinets have been the same for over 60 years & refuses to change them when we ask. The cutting board that comes with the kitchen is used before I moved in. They haven’t fixed the Elevator over 3 YEARS!! GYM IS FILLED WITH KIDS STORAGE SO YOU CANT USE IT. Water comes out yellow every time before you use it. I recommend you don’t live here!!!! Im moving because of all these issues!! Infested with roaches. I've called the city multiple times
The only reason to stay here is because it’s affordable. Management sucks. Super rude and have no respect for your privacy. They walk in without notice sometimes. Loud noises are super early in the morning and at night as well. The places are infested with bugs and roaches, doesn't matter how many times you do pest control. The manager only makes it harder for you in every aspect you can imagine. Unless you’re not doing well financially, do not rent this horrible place. Quality 0.
Lived here for over 10 years and these are great apartments to live in. Staff and maintenance are amazing and the residence is always clean and residents are friendly i would recommend this place to anyone
I have been looking for a single apartment for some time and have seen many, many apartments. This is an excellent property with great amenities and management. I was looking at a small, but lovely single. The on-site manager was especially helpful and professional in showing the apartment and meticulously going though the terms of rental and what was included with the specific apartment and the complex generally. I especially loved the large swimming pool and the fact the complex has this on-site manager and also an on-site maintenance person. Even though I was concerned that the single was too small for my things, it was by far the best I had seen. I left and then came back with a $100 cashiers check to hold the apartment for 3 days. I ultimately decided the apartment was not large enough. I called the manager and picked up my cashier’s check without any problem at all. She was just as nice and professional as she was when she showed me the apartment. I really wish the apartment had been just a bit bigger so I could have lived at this complex.
I moved to Los Angeles right after college, looking for a safe and affordable yet practical apartment. I came across Academy Pointe and ultimately that is exactly what I got. The location is relatively good, North Hollywood is blossoming, and has become a really cool spot. The NoHo Arts District and Burbank are both just up the road, the center of Hollywood is a 10-15 minute drive max. You're 3-5 minutes away from the 70 and the 101, which is extremely convenient, if you leave at the right time, you are never TOO far away from any part of the city! I always tell friends, NoHo is on the very edge of the Valley, easy in- easy out. The staff at Academy Pointe does a terrific job maintaining the grounds. Yes, like any place, it does have its flaws, but if you are looking for a safe, comfortable place then this is your spot.
If your sole priority is cheap, then this is a great apartment. The location is relatively good for North Hollywood and you're 3-5 minutes away from the 70 and the 101, which is extremely convenient. The maintenance staff is very friendly, but because they are a small staff, they can't always get to you the same day. I had three refrigerators break down and they replaced all three within a timely manner with no problems. My only complaint is how thin the walls are and how loud it can get. Overall, it is a good place to live for the price and the location.
I'm so grateful that I found my apartment using apartments.com. It made it a lot easier to move all the way from texas to Los Angeles. I moved across the world here by myself and this is my first apartment. I love my apartment so much. When I saw the place for the first time I fell in love it looked even better in person. I'm a lot less stress now that I have my own place in a peaceful quite safe neighborhood. This would not have been possible without apartments.com paving the way for me to find an apartment that fits all of my needs. I may not have any furniture in my apartment but I'm so grateful I have a place to call home! Thank you so much!
I've been living here for over 3 years now and the majority of the time has been ok (minus the rent increase EVERY year) until recently when I expressed an issue that I was having with my hot water in my shower, bathroom and kitchen sink. The maintenance man came to "fix" it but he wasn't understanding this issue that I was having. He tried to fix the bathroom sink, but ended up making it worst by causing it to start leaking. The next day I tell management so I guess they tell him to fix it. To make a long story short they have not fixed my plumbing and they told me it was going to take a while and they put me on a list. So now I have to wait to have decent running hot water. Very inconsiderate and I can't wait to move!
My (pad) or for those of you born after 1970 my apartment complex is worth checking out. It is located in northhollywood close to all of the highway exits for easy access. Also with a nice on site laundry room it will be convienient to stay neat and clean for work or even potential job interviews. With a state if the art gym and swimming pool this complex is a sweet deal. But wait there is more :) . Get this guys free utilities . Yes free utilities so u can save a little each month to go out and have just a little extra $$$$. Call or swing by. You wont regret it. Enjoy :))))))
This was not quite what I expected. I needed to increase the amount of rent to pay for a better place.
