People know Alameda for being an island that offers well-maintained residences, numerous amenities, and is easily accessible to San Francisco. Before the area became an island, it was connected to the Oakland Peninsula. The island took shape when shipping facilities dredged a canal through the marshland.
Not only is it located on Alameda Island, Alameda also encompasses a part of Bay Farm Island (which really isn’t an island at all). Proximity to the Bay affords residents wind surfing and kite-flying opportunities at Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach. At the beach, you’ll also enjoy gorgeous views of the San Francisco skyline!
The city is recognized for its pristine Victorian houses and is home to many employers from the Oakland Raiders to a popular outerwear company. Spirits Alley is a local hot spot in the community, a street lined with wineries, distilleries, and breweries.

Property Ratings at Admirals Cove
Overall I am loving the community, it's nice to have an app where we can make posts, friendly staff and clean private places like the pool or gym. My dog approves too, he loves the dog park and the place in general.
Admirals Cove has been an amazing place to live! With its huge landscaped green spaces, Walking paths, pool, BBQ’s, and gym, we really love living here. The best part of the whole place is the staff though! Jess, Italy, and Eduardo have all been so kind and helpful even when we had to change our move-in date, or change what townhome we had to rent, they were always willing to work with us! It’s so nice to be able to deal with people face to face vs through an app or email, we really love everything about the property! It’s been such a great experience moving here!
Horrible management that doesn't respond to any emails you send. I had someone in the office make multiple mistakes and I thought that speaking to the manager would help clarify my concerns. Nope! I was yelled at and berated instead. The people running this are beyond horrible and it is the worst management I've dealt with in my 15 years of renting. To top it off, your mail is constantly stolen here and management refuses to even acknowledge the issue. We have spoken to the sheriff's office and they are in communication with the front office, but the front office won't admit or do anything to curb the issue. Regarding ratings, they have held several campaigns to falsely boost apartment reviews to attract more renters. I would strongly encourage people interested in this complex to read all reviews.
Do not move here if you can avoid it!!!! The town house is fine. Its nice to have a backyard and the extra room gives my partner and I space for separate offices. HOWEVER. The management company is hot garbage. They do not respond to any emails. They do not take the residence concerns into consideration for anything. I email about issues and never get responses. When I do go into the office you get brushed off. The leasing office is fantastic till the moment you sign the lease then they are hot garbage. AVOID AVOID AVOID if you can. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN This place is terrible. Management has sucked through 4 different people. The town houses look nice but are extremely cheap. They are also taking away some of the amenities and building a 6 story apartment's complex where the park and dog park are. I can not stress this enough if you read this STAY AWAY. While the places look nice and you have a yard and frankly the neighbors are delightful. My partner and I debated breaking our lease because this place sucks so much. I am 37 and have rented since I was 18 this is BY FAR THE WORST PLACE I have ever rented from. DO NOT MOVE HERE. It is terrible.
I would strongly recommend against living here. The management is incredibly unresponsive and sleazy. When I moved out, they added a bunch of unreasonable "security deposit" charges–repainting, weeding the yard, $800 for cleaning, etc... I emailed back to object, and ask for proof that we incurred damages, which is the landlord's obligation in CA if they charge against a security deposit. They never responded to my email, or multiple phone calls after to try to resolve the situation. Now I find out that they've sold this "debt" to a collections agency without ever responding to us about it. Very disappointed, to say the least.
I've been living here for about a month now, and it's been great. The downside is that the trash bins are very small. Also the wash and dryer units aren't the quality I expected them to be.
Yeah, don’t move across the country to come here sight unseen. I should have spent money on a plane ticket to check out places in person. Shame on me for relying on the internet too much. The actual space is nice. The customer experience leaves a ton to be desired.
We are happy sharing the place with families with young kids. The people around is like our family and we feel safe. The maintenance team is very supportive and the communities areas are clean always. Is also a pet friendly place that helps us to create community
Community Manager is absolutely horrible. Never in office to attend to residents needs/questions/concerns. When emailed, always has some type of out of office automatic reply. What is the point of having a community manager onsite? No wonder the team that surrounded her that actually cared is no longer there, they ran! You should too as a potential renter!
The community is pretty good, but the water quality in the area is really bad.
Pros: great amenities, great location, friendly staff when you can get ahold of them Cons: slow response for maintenance issues, unpredictable automatic switches
Could be really nice if corners werent cut to maintain and rent wasnt overpriced
Movers beware. They will try to screw you over when you move it. They are trying to charge for a full carpet replacement of 2000$, which looks brand new and was deep cleaned before move out. 350$ to repaint the walls, which are only 1 year old. Stay clear of this place!
Admirals cove is a deception of "luxury living" in every way. First and foremost, I cannot believe the robbery and joke that is our utilities. I'm not sure how this is even legal. My two roommates and I have all seen up to 600% increases in our utility bills since moving here. I don't know how you expect to keep anyone here, as this place is already expensive as it is. Before signing, management should have told us that our utilities would be around $700 A MONTH, because we would have realized that we couldn't afford it. I can't believe how much we are charged for trash for the low quality of service they provide. They don't pick up trash three days a week and give us a bin that fits one trash bag. Rodents eat the trash every night and its a mess. The low quality construction of the unit has also become more apparent after living here for two months. "Hardwood" floor is already bubbling, random noises happening in the ceilings, almost all the trim boards are warped, terrible ceiling construction, light switches were all dirty upon move in, painters tape on wall upon move in, appliances are very low tier for the price we pay, dishwater was installed at an angle and cannot be adjusted, walking on the first floor rattles the whole house, weeds keep growing in the backyard with to end in sign, and finally rocks were not evenly laid at all. We also had a significant mail issue when we first moved in that no one seemed to want to help us with, I spend hours problem solving my myself. We have had two maintenance requests, the first never solved the problem, and the second was not solved either. Landscaping around the unit is not attended to what so ever. On top of ALL of this, we were told before moving in that construction was finished, and on the first day of moving in we had to sign a construction notice where there has been significant noise the last two months. Please fix this terribly poor experience.
I really enjoy the community and how close it is to shopping and restaurants. I ride the ferry to San Francisco for work and I just love it!
Admirals Cove is a lovely community in a great area. Residents and the office employees are friendly and welcoming.
Even ignoring the very superficial remodels that appear to do a poor job with the electricity, insulation, and crazy thin walls (to the point where I can hear my neighbors phone vibrate on their nightstand in the middle of the night), this place is right next to abandoned property and there are rodents everywhere. Management provides inadequate tools for tenants to manage their trash and people end up leaving loose bags of trash on their porches for days at a time, attracting rodents. It took months for them to properly patch holes in my unit that mice were using to get in to look for food or warmth. They also refuse to give me itemized billing details for the utilities. I believe they’re overcharging me, and until they provide those details, which they’re legally obligated to do, I have no way of knowing if I’m overpaying or not. Do not rent from here.
The opportunities to stay active outdoors are plentiful. Its an escape from the busy cities while still being only 20 minutes away.
Dont move here. Its run down and way overpriced for the quality and lack of amenities.
Very efficient staff & management! Always willing to listen and take prompt actions. Keeps us informed & posted of activities / maintenance work in advance!
Great place to live, just wish I was in a unit that didn't have to be right next to a jet engine power plant running all day every single day.
The Admiral Cove Team is very warm, friendly and efficient and always meet my needs in a prompt and secure fashion. I enjoy living here and look forward to meeting neighbors and future activities here once restrictions are lifted.
I enjoy living here and love the size of my apartment. The staff is the best and look out for the residences.
I love the size of my home in comparison to others in Oakland and the cost. Also, being able to get around easily to nearby attractions.
Great place to live!
Kris and other staff members have made my move in a breeze. It has been a welcoming experience.
low ceilings, poor design and construction, 80's heater system. thin walls small rooms, cheap carpet
Eventually will be a great community. In the short term, the construction is massively delayed and the care in which the townhomes were renovated is poor.
Great place to live and with prompt courteous service by staff.
We feel so catered to and everyone is so nice. Its been wonderful feeling cared for while we settle into our new home.
Brand new complex! Leasing office/staff/maintenance are so far beyond attentive, helpful, and hold an incredible community vision. Looking forward to witnessing its growth, and what residents well attract.
