Property Ratings at Affinity at 2M
I been a tenant here for some years and we always had new people in the office but they weren't helpful. The new leasing staff is great and seem like they know what they are doing.
Do not believe what you’re seeing in these reviews. Management can’t or won’t evict the bad apples. In this 12 story building the trash chutes are piled up to the 11th floor. As of today there has been two shooting outside the building in a single week. M street is an open air drug market. Management shuts down resident pleas to take any action whatsoever to amend the problem. I don’t know why this place has such good ratings. It’s truly abhorrent
2M was a great apartment when I first moved in. Then they were sold to the new owner and everything went down hill. I had signed a lease renewal when it was first sold and never got the bonus for staying on (they told me it would come through over and over, but never did). Then "incidents" started happening. Glass in the pool, arrests around and in the building, fire alarms going off constantly, the smell of weed and cigarettes permeating through the vents and walls. I would call and the phone would say no one was available. When my lease was up a second time, I did not renew. I cleaned my apartment and made sure it was spotless before turning in my keys. I didn't hear back from them in the 45-days they have to give me my security deposit back. I called, I emailed (apartment, someone who works in the leasing department, and the company), and I dropped by but everyone was "out" when I would drop by. I never heard back. Do not rent here. It has gone down hill. They will respond to get you in but will take your money and never contact you again.
Roaches infested!!!!!! Apartments are beautiful but INFESTED WITH ROACHES, that do not go away!!!!!!
I drive past this building around midnight or 1 am and always see unsavory people hanging around in front of the building and in the lobby. Uniformed security trying to keep things in order but I've often seen the police out front also. I'd stay away.
Hard to get ahold of them and when I did they were so unhelpful and rude.
The character limit here prevents me from going into depth. Suffice it to say, unsafe, badly maintained, loud and inconsiderate tenants, and terribly managed. I lived here for five years because it IS slightly cheaper than other buildings nearby, but ultimately left the neighborhood completely because my experience at 2M was so bad.
If you want to feel unsafe or uncomfortable where you live, this place may be for you. Many of the residents who live here are flat out rude and have no respect for their fellow residents. I feel for the cleaning crew and other staff members here who are subjected to certain peoples' behavior. There are much better options in the area. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else.
Just looking at the review posted two months ago I would love to alternate universe they are talking about. The staff does all it can to keep the area clean and well-maintained although the amenities cannot last the abuse they suffer from "unaccompanied visitors". I feel for those who work here and for the management but at the end of the day coming home to a place where you can feel both safe and comfortable takes precedence. There have been open fights in the lobby, individuals asking for food and or alcohol at the pool area, in addition to the continuous hosting of large parties in the amenity areas that have not been reserved leaving the area trashed. I look forward to when my lease is up and know several others here who feel the same. Come tour 2M on a weekend and see for yourself what you are signing yourself into.
Always clean and well-maintained. The staff does an awesome job at keeping residents well-informed of anything going on in the building, they also really make an effort to get residents involved in city/neighborhood events! The one-time Pet deposit is AMAZING for pet owners as well. There’s such a great and safe community here!
2 M Street is the best apartment home I've ever lived in! Coming home to 2M makes me feel proud and welcome everytime I walk through the doors. If you do not live here...this is the place to envy! It has an astounding roof-top pool that overlooks the city and at night it has an amazing overview. I love coming home to this place of warmth and beauty. Not to mention the gym/health center. Working out in the gym saved my life. I needed to work out and my doctor was telling me I needed to lose weight. However, not until living here and seeing the gym and the atmosphere just made it an easy decision for me. I began loosing weight just by coming to the workout center three days a week! I love my apartment home. It is cozy and sitting out on the balcony is the icing on the cake! I can't wait to get home!
2M was the first building I looked at on my DC apartment search, and I was lucky to have it as a standard for comparison throughout the process. While apartment features are becoming standardized, 2M is the only building I've heard of that refunds rent when there's a temporary mechanical issue with a system like air conditioning. I joined two building sports teams and immediately made neighbor friends. The NoMa metro station is on an adjacent block with an intersection including CVS, Harris Teeter, and Starbucks. The terminus of I-395 is blocks away for easy access to Northern Virginia, and Union Station is walkable without living in the center of traffic. With summer movie screenings in the park and the pop-up beer garden, this is my new home. And the kicker for me? Indoor basketball court, rooftop pool, and a view of the Capitol from the rooftop.
2M has great amenities, and for the location and what you get, the price is right. I am only 2 blocks from a metro stop, 1 block from a Harris Teeter and a Starbucks. The rooftop offers a top notch view of Washington, DC, including the Capitol and Washington Monument. I can't ask for much more. One bad thing is that I live on the 12th floor and it takes a while for my water to get hot... so no quick showers, unless you are okay with them being icy. There is no pet rent, which makes 2M perfect for parents of fur babies!
I love living at 2M. As far as location it is one of the most convenient places I have lived in DC. Close to the metro and all the major highways. Not to mention multiple grocery stores within walking distance. The concierge staff is great, they always greet meet by name and always help me in a timely manner. Any time I have had an issue in my apartment it was fixed within a couple of hours. The amenities here are great as well. I am convinced that the rooftop is definitely one of the best views of DC, plus how many buildings actually have a basketball court inside. It is super pet friendly and I love that there are no move in fees. I plan to stay here for a while.
i moved in to this building shortly after it opened, so all spaces were brand new or close to it. The amenities offered are what sold me on the building, in addition to the fact that there were no fees for any of them, no garbage fee, no monthly pet fee, and being a "green" building, utility costs are low. Aside from the pool, rooftop cafe, basketball court, reservable bar and game room, dog park and courtyard and theater, my apartment is spacious, with laundry machines, a dishwasher, walk-in closet, balcony and views of the Capital. I have 4 stars because the building management is disorganized and there are a number of growing pains the building has experienced. Most of the front desk staff is very nice, as is the cleaning and Maintenence crew.
The building is amazing. Granite counter tops, decently sized bedrooms, rooftop pool, nice gym, numerous workspaces for public use, reservable (for a cost) rooms to host bigger shindigs in. The whole building only opened last August, so everything is new. For the price, the facilities here really are a steal. That said, there's a reason NoMa is cheaper than other parts of the city. Violent crime is bad, and rising, and rarely acknowledged or addressed. I used to tell people that the two block walk to and from the NoMa metro stop was safe, just not to go any other direction, but then someone was murdered at the metro stop on the Fourth of July, so that's either no longer or never really was the case. Another, less visceral neighborhood tip: there's no bar. We do have, as of very recently, a beer garden in our neighborhood, but as soon as it gets cold again it will be a hike out to Eckington, H street, or Shaw for a happy hour again. Which might not be such a hassle if walking home from those neighborhoods into my own was safe. Lastly, the staff here are very apparently new at their jobs. Things like closing down the pool on Memorial day when the roof got too crowded (you didn't see that coming? The only plan in place was 'kick everyone out'?) or not emailing the building residents when a burst pipe caused a flood throughout 5 floors of our building have really demonstrated that no one really knows what they're doing down there. All in all, (TL;DR) it's a lovely building in a so-so neighborhood with clueless staff leadership. For me, that's worth it.
