Property Ratings at Affinity at Olympia 55+
I give it 5 stars. I've lived here at Affinity @ Olympia going on 10 yrs and have really enjoyed it. The management team we have in place now is the best we have had in a long time. The office staff (Jo) and the maintenance guys are just the best. very personable and understanding. Love the different events they plan for us and the amenities that are available.

Thank you so much for your review! We're so glad to hear that you have enjoyed your experience at Affinity at Olympia, and that our staff has been helpful and responsive!
I absolutely love living here. My neighbors are like family, the manager and staff are extremely helpful and patient. I have so many fun things to do every month, darts, bible study, birthday brunch and a full size theatre with a pop corn machine! I moved in over 2 years ago and I can not imagine living anywhere else!

Thank you so much for your kind review. It is residents like yourself that make Affinity at Olympia so different than your average apartment home! Our community is filled with such wonderful and caring people. It makes our hearts super happy to read reviews like yours. We hope you stay with us for years to come! - Your Affinity Team
When you look at leases and it says the building caters to 55 what does that bring to mind? Whatever criteria you think of, Affinity at Olympia does not do anything different than any other apartment does. The elevators are a necessity for the tenets yet when one breaks down there is no rush to see it repaired and when management is approached for status their attitude is one of being intruded upon. Recently we had a very bad snow storm that dropped over a foot of snow at the facility making the parking lots not passable. The first two days of the fall the sidewalks were not cleared accept by the tenets who had the energy. It wasn't until two days after the end of the snow fall that dozers were brought in to clear the snow from the parking lots. In a nutshell the tenets are here for the benefit of management, not the other way around as it should be. You should seriously consider looking elsewhere for accommodations.

Hello, I apologize for the inconvenience and hassle that snow caused for all the residents. I'd be more then happy to chat with you about the steps we've taken to ensure we are more then prepared should a snow storm like that occur again. Please stop by our office anytime, or give us a call at 360-252-9554.
The building is constructed in a “U” shape, the elevators are located in the corners of the building making almost every apartment quite a distance when loading and unloading. As Affinity requires that all large items, are moved through the reception entrance, this increases the distance to your apartment. Alternatively, you can use the entrances at the corners of the building but ONLY if you have paid the add'l monthly fee of a parking spot. And as only a few spots are actually convenient, this makes procuring a parking spot quite competitive at times. In most cities, or complexes, you are allowed to park nearest your apartment for a short amount of time to move your items into your new living space. Customarily, landlords/tenants are accommodating to these necessary actions. Not so here. Affinity sends a bulletin with moving directions that require you to, pull up to the entrance, unlock door, push your furniture etc into the reception area, down a long hallway to your unit, and repeat as many times as needed. Then back to your car and park in a free spot you can hopefully secure as all convenient spaces are “paid only”. Monthly storage units are available. You pay monthly for the length of your lease, regardless of how long you need it. Rent does include WiFi and TV, but the channels available are limited and can't be upgraded therefor Affinity’s choice of channels are now become your choice. DVR is available but only from Affinity, it costs $250.00. After leaving we were told by management that the DVR would only work in that apartment and nowhere else rendering it useless once moved. The sound coming from the Freeway is loud and constant unless you live on the street side. Keeping windows and patio door shut was required to dim the noise. We felt like we were being reprimanded more than once by staff and, by the regular bulletins about the need of correcting the actions of the residents. Many moved away while we were there. Requiring ongoing sales and tours. In attempting to contract the parent company to discuss my dismay with the management, I could not locate that contact information. the numbers found on the web were out of service. When I reached out to a different Affinity to obtain at least a phone number, I was told it wasn’t available and asked repeatedly why I wanted it. After being on hold for 35 minutes, I was told they would call me back. They never did. “ SALES “ and protecting the company are “The” priority at Affinity. Big thumbs down.

Hello, I am so sorry if you were given misinformation and were under the impression we charge you to use our doors. All of our doors are secure access, and therefore require a key fob to gain entry into our building. However, every resident is given one of these key fobs for free upon move in and are welcome to use any door, any time of day, without any other requirements. If this was different with previous management then I apologize for the inconvenience that caused you. Regardless I am sorry that you're stay here was not satisfactory and wish you the best of luck wherever you landed.
I have lived at Affinity of Olympia since it opened. . The facility itself, the amenities and the staff are wonderful. The corporation that owns these buildings, however, is not wonderful. They have built these buildings and filled them with people over the age of 55 and show absolutely no compassion or understanding for the fact that we are on a fixed income. I have just received my fourth rent increase which translates to a 3 to 5% increase every time my new lease has come up. We were charged $15 per month to have a cat in your apartment when I moved in. The cat rent has now gone up to $25 a month. Please note that this is on top of a pet damage deposit. With my new lease the fee for a late rental payment has gone from $100 to $200. I would strongly caution anybody considering moving into any Affinity building. You will need to look far into the future and make sure that you are in a financial situation that allows your living expenses to increase on a regular yearly basis. Not only your rent but also auxiliary expenses that management is going to increase on a regular basis. I don't recommend moving into an Affinity. I would like to see a message sent to this management company that conveys the message that if you choose to supply housing for seniors , do it in a responsible manner that reflects and respects the fact that our pension and SS does not increase by 3 to 5 percent yearly.
