Curved along Shilshole Bay, Ballard is one of Seattle’s trendiest neighborhoods. Settled in the early 1800s, Ballard has its own identity – historic warehouses converted into lofts, shops, and breweries, the must-see Ballard Locks (if it’s salmon season, be sure to head down the fish ladder and watch the salmon trying to swim against the current through glass panels), and Golden Gardens Park.
Considered one of Seattle’s best parks, Golden Gardens park has it all – amazing views of the Olympic Mountains, beautiful beaches, hiking trails, fishing and boating areas, and even an off-leash dog park. Renting in Ballard also puts you near one of Seattle’s best farmers markets, the Ballard Farmers Market. The market is open year-round and often features live music.
Explore Ballard’s history at the Nordic Heritage Museum. The museum features permanent exhibitions that focus on the area’s Nordic roots, along with a variety of temporary exhibits.

Property Ratings at Alcove Ballard Apartments
**WARNING: DO NOT RENT HERE!** Living in this apartment complex has been nothing short of a nightmare. The management is completely unresponsive, ignoring my calls and emails for two days straight, only to slap me with nearly $200 in extra charges on my month-to-month lease without proper notice. The stench in the hallways is unbearable—like an uncleaned litter box that they try to mask with a suffocating chemical fragrance that gives me headaches. The shared washer and dryer have been broken for months, and despite repeatedly reaching out, management had the audacity to tell me to handle the repairs myself by calling the number on the machine. Even when the machines do work, they’re filthy, filled with hair, and reek of mildew. Soundproofing is nonexistent; I can hear every single noise from my neighbors, from gaming outbursts to footsteps above. We didn't have proper hot water for over a month, and it took a collective effort from the tenants, signing a petition, just to get it fixed. When I finally managed to get in touch with someone after calling an emergency line, they had the nerve to tell me that my lease was my problem, even though they failed to send it within the required 60-day notice period. Given how sketchy these people are, I highly doubt I'll see a dime of my deposit back. **STAY AWAY!**
We've had issues now on-going for months with either band-aid resolutions or NO resolutions. The first issue was the door leading from directly outside to the apartment doors. These have both keypads to unlock and hinges on the top that automatically make sure the door shuts after being opened. They are suppose to at least. Our door's hinge that automatically shuts the door has been broken for months now. It looks like there was an attempted repair a week following- but it seems they gave up. A note was on the door for a week or two saying please shut it yourself while they "fix" the issue. That sign disappeared a while back- along with the attempts to fix it. The second issue was the keypads. Your door for your apartment has a light up keypad that responds to your touch. You are given a code that opens the door... when the keypad works. You are also given a keyfob to unlock the door by putting close (that also seemed to not work well either). Our keypad after some time didn't respond to touch either correctly or at all- making it impossible to open your apartment door. The day this happened I also didn't have that key-fob. I LUCKILY found someone giving a tour to a potential resident who helped me about an hour later get into the apartment. They tried using a remote key-fob to open the busted lock... which also didn't work. They instead gave us a regular key which thankfully still works. The third problem is the washer. A load of either washing or drying will cost you $2.50 per use. You can use your phone to remotely pay for the machine and then select a wash or dry cycle on the actual machine itself. However- that's when the buttons work. I attempted to do one load of wash today and the washer selection's button just do not work. At all. I pressed all of them. Avoid this place at all costs. Save yourself the headache.
I am on the top floor which I chose to get away from the noise of an upstairs neighbor and I can hear everything through the walls. I can hear one of my neighbors consistently banging around and playing loud music and the other talking loudly on the phone from 7am until 11pm. It is horribly built, I was even told by a maintenance worker that the people who did all of the wiring and electrical up & quit halfway through and they have had nothing but issues with this building. I have to say, Keystone does a great job at answering complaints quickly and they really try their best but the bottom line is the building is so poorly built and it is incredibly loud and the most unpeaceful place to live, but if you can handle noise such as incredibly loud banging and doors slamming constantly, then go for it and rent here as it is very cheap.
