Midtown Baltimore encompasses a number of distinct urban neighborhoods in the heart of the city. Madison Park, Bolton Hill, Mid-Town Belvedere, and Mount Vernon all fall under the umbrella of the “Midtown” moniker. This bustling arts center is bolstered by the University at Baltimore and the Maryland Institute College of Art. After work or school, locals enjoy riding their bikes through Pearlstone Park, which is in walking distance of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Because of its walkability, you can easily access the plentiful bars and restaurants from your apartment. The Brewer’s Art brewpub has an excellent selection of homemade Belgian-style beers and fabulous food items. Whether it’s getting to work or class on time, residents are relieved they live so close to Interstate 83 and MTA stations for an easy commute.

Property Ratings at Algonquin Apartments
I have been staying in the Algonquin Building for the past 7 years. Initially I was staying in the one bedroom floorplan before moving into the the two bedroom floor plan for the past two years. This building is a true gem! The apartments are gorgeous and kept their charm after the renovation the building went through before opening. Most of the original apartment layouts were kept intact, along with a wealth of historic interior details- fluted columns in the two bedroom apartments, cornices, high ceilings, fireplace mantels and paneled doors and casings. Noise was never an issue although the building is fully occupied and the walls are very thick. The views are just magical (especially north and east facing units). The staff and the property manager are accommodating and responsive at all times and will respond to maintenance requests at anytime. Working in Washington DC and commuting from Baltimore has never been easier, Penn station is only a ten minute walk and access to the I-95 and Parkway are within ten minutes by car. The building is also conveniently located near a grocery store, CVS, restaurants, amazing cocktail bars, and a local neighborhood wine store. It is also easy to find street parking and there are two lots that can be used behind the building with monthly subscription. I have nothing bad to say about this building and will always cherish the memories I have spent here, it truly felt and feels like home. No regrets :)
I lived in the Algonquin for 2 years, and most of that was during the COVID-19 pandemic. My apartment was comfortable, convenient to work (I am a nurse, and the Algonquin is close to most of the city's major hospitals), and in a great neighborhood. I loved being able to walk to coffee and local restaurants! All in all, a great living experience and I would recommend it to others moving to Baltimore.
Walls are super thin, very noisy neighborhood. Smoking looks like it is allowed in apartments. Hallways smell like stale cigarettes
I stayed at Algonquin for three years, and I must say... what a great place! The location can't be beat (especially if you work for one of the Agora Companies, as Money Map Press, Agora Financial, Stansberry, and InvestorPlace are literally 200 steps away, door to desk). I have friends who've been in the building even longer than I was. Do yourself a favor... take a look at a unit on the 7th, 8th, or 9th floor. Best views of the city... great location... at an affordable price!!
First off, Mount Vernon Baltimore is a fantastic place to live and the Algonquin is conveniently located in Mount Vernon. Short walks to parks, dog parks, restaurants, bars, and local establishments. Management is responsive and took care of my issues somewhat promptly. My apartment was on the large side for the price point and while the fitness center is sparse, it provided some good workout opportunities. I was also able to go Month to Month in order to extend my lease 3 months after my 1-year lease was up. Thanks for the memories Algonquin!
The Algonquin is in a great location but has several issues. While the lobby is kept clean, they don't seem to do much maintenance to the apartments, such as dealing with peeling paint and rotting floorboards, during turnover. The management team consists of only two people, who also manage other buildings in the area, which probably explains the delay in getting maintenance requests fulfilled. I had to wait almost a week to get the lock on my door fixed. No building is perfect, so I could overlook those things and recommend this apartment building if it were not for the unprofessional apartment manager. On two occasions he opened my door and tried to enter my apartment without notice, which, as a single woman, is scary. The worst part was that he did not see anything wrong with this. Other downsides are your electric bill will be sky high in the winter because the windows, despite being double paned, are still very drafty, as in, you will feel a cooling breeze in the dead of winter. Sounds and smells also transfer very easily. I can hear conversations from my neighbors and smell throughout my apartment when one of my neighbors smokes. Aside from the location, the best part about this building is that they have bigger units than I've seen in the area, and mostly wood floors, which is great if you have pets. But for the price, there are plenty of other buildings in the area that provide better units, service, and amenities. There is only a small gym space with a few cardio machines in the basement, which has no ventilation.
I lived in the Algonquin for three years and absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking to live in the area. In fact, I actually referred a couple friends to move in the building as well. First of all, the building is gorgeous. Our unit had beautiful wood paneling, new appliances, and large rooms. We almost never had any need for maintenance, but when we did, management was very responsive. You also can't beat the location. I had a very positive stay in the Algonquin.
I had a terrible experience living at Algonquin. I had some issues like mice in my apartment, missed packages and strange people walking around the building. It is impossible to talk with someone in the office (that is not inside the building) they take several days to reply one email or never replied and the office never open before 10:30am and is always closed. Don't worth the money, you can find better options in the same neighborhood.
I just moved out of the Algonquin after being there for a year and half, having purchased a townhouse around the corner. I thought that the building was first rate. I had a two BR 2 BA with a nice eat in kitchen. People in the building are very friendly and the management was very responsive to any issues that came up. I would recommend it highly.
