Thank you for the great review, we appreciate the feedback!
I moved in a little over two years ago and have experienced property management change. I’ve requested window cleaning once a year but it’s never happened, cleanliness of common areas (elevators, hallways, fitness room) is questionable, and lockers/walls/furniture have shown more wear and tear. Packages are misplaced or stolen every once in a while. Trash valet is inconsistent with pick up even when the rules for the pick up and condition of trash is followed. The current property manager and maintenance team are kind and address problems quickly if you speak with them in person. A mixture of high turn over of residents lots of untrained dogs might have led to dirtier or less well kept common areas. We also no longer get quarterly fire department visits which is great.
Alice House is a hidden gem! Nice staff, community, amenities, and well-located. I’m so happy I stumbled upon this place. Best decision!
I never leave reviews, but this place was excellent! Toured this property with the leasing agent Sarah and it was an amazing experience! Was greeted by both Sarah and Anthony. The property is beautiful, clean, smells good. The safety features of the controlled access are great perks. Loved the view from the rooftop deck and unit I toured. The amenities are nice and hard to come by in downtown Oakland for the price. Very walkable to many local business I enjoy. The friendliness of the staff was amazing and the maintaining of the property really stuck out. This part of town is very walkable and safe in my opinion, so I look forward to leasing with you when my lease is up in April!
The price is reasonable, community is nice! Great location parking is really easy so far I’m loving my new home ????
My second apartment in over 30 years. The apartment is super clean, the tenants are very friendly, the mail deliveries are awesome, the building security is top notch. And I would like to send a very special acknowledgement to the building manager Anthony, who will bend over backwards to help in supporting whatever your needs or concerns you are. Super cool person and always very professional. And I would like to also include Sarah, the leasing manager who made you feel welcome and wanted. She was my first contact in Oakland and is always ready to lend a hand. The Alice House is an amazing, awesome and very quiet place to live, with a very attentive staff who really cares.
I have been living at Alice House for a few months and it has been a great experience. Maintenance is friendly and office staff are amazing.
Living in Alice House at 1411 Alice Street in downtown Oakland is like a dream. This is a prime location that is very convenient for commuters. You are a short walk between two Bart Stations and a few steps to dozens of restaurants and cafes downtown. And, of course, Lake Merritt, which is one of the hubs of the city's entertainment and recreation center, has been my regular stomping ground. When I first stumbled upon this apartment complex, it seemed almost too good to be true. Everything was as perfect as it appeared online. The apartment was beautiful and comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. The indoor gym was a peaceful haven to relieve stress, especially during the rainy season. I quickly took advantage of the wonderful move-in promotion and made it into my home. It was an immediate fit. However, some months passed, and unplanned expenditures multiplied, and I struggled to pay my rent on time. Fortunately, Anthony (the property manager), without being overbearing, sympathetically and patiently worked with me. He took the time to assist me during this stressful period. Even before this incident, Anthony quickly responded to any questions and was always available to resolve any issues I had. A very dedicated and eager individual who loves to go the extra mile to meet one's needs. Eventually, I had to leave because I could no longer afford the place. Anthony did the miraculous by allowing me to still an additional month while I was looking for a place to move. It was an incredible experience to have Anthony in my corner. He not only went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and memorable, but he also brought a piece of heaven down. Whether giving a restaurant recommendation or simply sharing information about upcoming local events, Anthony was always a ready and willing friend to assist you. If anyone is looking for an amazing place to stay, 1411 Alice Street in downtown Oakland is the spot. I highly recommend this facility.

We’re thrilled to get this kind of feedback. Thank you for taking the time to review us at Alice House
I have been living at Alice House for over a year now and will be here for several more months until my lease ends. The units here are nice, modern, and so far very clean. Three things here I do not like that would make me to not re-sign a lease: The parking situation is ridiculous. Why would you build an apartment complex WITHOUT enough parking for all the residence. I DO NOT care for the trash service at this building. It does not make sense to me that I would have to pay for a service I do not use. I do not leave my trash outside my door. Why am I paying for this service at over $50 a month and I do not use it? When I first moved in the trash service was at about $20.00 and now it's over 50.00 The gym is mediocre that has just basic equipments. I went to join a gym. Also, the units have AC here. One reason I came here to Alice House is because the units have AC. My AC was out for going on 15 days now during a heatwave and I am still waiting for it to be fixed. Overall it's just OK living here. I would not stay here again because of the parking situation and trash service here.

Still in transition but people seem to be very warm and welcoming!
Easily the most I've felt at home in an apartment. Beautiful homes, great amenities, and incredible community managers. The light in my apartment from the floor-to-ceiling windows makes working from home such a pleasant experience and my dogs love laying in the sun. The brand new kitchen appliances are SUCH a game changer and I appreciate how clean and neat common spaces are!
New building with nice units and very friendly staff but after living here for almost a month I have a few gripes I wish I had know before I moved in. #1 you do not get a key fob; everything is opened controlled by an app you need to download. This means that you need to pull out your phone, unlock it, open the app, and then wait several seconds for it to unlock the door THREE times: at the front door, elevator, and at your apartment. If your phone runs out of battery or you don't have reception (which is not great in the building) you are locked out. This is one of those ideas which I think sounds cool in theory but in reality it is terrible. #2 the common areas, such as the gym, are still not open even as COVID restrictions lift throughout Alameda County. Amenities are certainly part of what you pay for in these fancy new "communities" and I wasn't aware that they would be closed until my move in date.
