Despite some challenges with the washer and dryers as well as with the elevators, I have been enjoying living at Alister. DJ is super helpful and Donnie and Lloyd in maintenance are very responsive with any issues. If anything does happen it’s always resolved. I know that no place is perfect but for apartment living in LA this has been a pretty positive experience.

Stay away broken promises and offers not honored if starts that way stay away.
Do not I repeat do not move into this apartment building… this has been a terrible experience I only lived here 1 year and that’s enough for me. The building is from the 80s and needs a complete renovation. Then the whole time while living in this this complex the elevator near me didn’t work, the building has a spider infestation in the Apts and throughout the hallways I woke up to spider bites Multiple times to the point I had to buy insect spray at Home Depot. The walls are paper thin and I could constantly hear my neighbors walking/stomping above me and the dirty stairwells, constant vehicle break ins just to name a few issues every 3 months there was a vehicle break in your vehicles are not safe. The Final straw is they went up on my rent almost $300 which is ridiculous. Which helped with the decision to move out March 2023. I was also overcharged with move out fees. Never received my $600 security deposit I thought I would receive a portion back. No instead I received a bill 2 weeks later saying I owe $1,479.16 in charges $1,222.91 of that was strictly painting charges I was shocked in disgust. Especially since estimated move out cost sheet showed painting would be $425 but I was emailed that the Alister has the right to charge me whatever they want. I left my apartment in great condition they still charged me a deep cleaning fee, shampoo fee and 3 times the cost listed for painting because they can. So here’s my far warning in advance do not move into this Alister Sherman Oaks apartment building…

Beware of this property. There are constant issues like the water heater being broken so you have no hot water. More than a week of not having hot water this year. In a supposedly high-end building. Elevators are constantly breaking down. Any rain leads to flooding and people having to move out. The building doesn’t care, and will continue to raise rents. Cars being broken into and packages stolen because they have no security. Moving in here is taking the risk that you’ll likely have to move again in a year if not months.

Hi there! I'm really sorry to hear that you haven't had quite the experience you'd hoped for in recent months, but we're working hard to get back to smooth sailing. Our brand new tankless boilers should be good to go by month's end, and the elevator motor was replaced and is now faster than ever! We, like all of California, experienced some water issues due to 2023's historic rain and flooding, but I'm glad to report that we were able to schedule and complete repairs in most cases within weeks of the original reports, and are now aggressively pursuing upgrades for many systems at our community, including the roof. If you've had an issue with your vehicle or a package, please contact the office; we do have controlled access to all exterior doors and gates, camera systems throughout our common areas, nightly Courtesy Patrol, and package lockers at our community, so we have several systems in place to deter the type of incident you've mentioned. The market for apartment homes does fluctuate as demand changes. We strive to offer market prices in-line with our competitors. Today, I won a court Judgement against Alister Sherman Oaks (Mill Creek) for the return of my $600 deposit and removal of false collection reporting to I Q Data. Alister Sherman Oaks reported false information to I Q Data collection to circumvent the return of my $600 deposit owed when Alister bought and took over property on May 29, 2015 from Amli on the Boulevard. I was scheduled for move out June 12, 2015 and had fulfilled 12 month lease with Amli. I returned keys to D'Edward (Alister property manager) and told him to forward my deposit, shortly after I received a letter from I Q Data collections stating Alister opened a case and submitted bogus charges for paint and other items which were not true because Alister immediately upon take over changed the entire property to fit their corporate model. After countless emails, certified letters and phone calls to no avail, I took them to court today God's Grace prevailed Glory to God
Living at the Alister is a dream come true. I wake up every morning with a smile on my face hitting the gym and making a protein shake. The showers are nice and warm the building and everything is nice and sturdy. I can do everything in peace. I just installed apple home with no issues and have lived here for 1 year and had no issue it's the best especially for a mother of 2 girls and 2 boys the boys love running around so I find the pool the perfect place to dive into fun my girls love doing ballet and there is lots of open room I have my own bathroom and am happy I don't have to share my bathroom with guests I have had no problems and found the building very entertaining and there is always something to do at the Alister. Also my husband comes from work with back pains so he hits the gym 6 pm before dinner and comes back up. Washing clothes is a breeze especially with 4 kids all we have to do is put our chart next to the washer and dryer and the kids put in their pile and I put mine in the kids share one room but there is no room to small I love the Alister and recommend it to all moms and dads out there it is very helpful.

I would not recommend living here, unless you are looking to live on a noisy building site. I have had to deal with the following in a "renovated" apartment: Washer/dryer fall out of the closet and spilled water everywhere Bare wiring in kitchen Missing light fitting Knife gash in wooden floor Missing parts from stove Windows won't open Dust and noise Construction guys at 7am every day outside my apartment having loud conversations AC compressor above my unit emitting loud hum/vibration throughout the day. One inch gap under my door, leading to noise, and no doubt nice AC bills, Being told told things would get fixed, to find out they have no key to access my unit. Fire and safety issues, the elevators go down frequently, use the stair wells and the handles to the exit doors fall off. Granted some things got fixed but not without constantly asking, but this building does not reflect what you pay in rent.
