Property Ratings at Alta Mesa
First of all when we moved into our unit, we found that the cable for Wi-Fi/cable tv had been cut and the property manager refuses to fix it or even run new cable. There are notices for immediate water shutoffs at least twice a week. Landscaping is garbage and tree sap always falls on our car. Dumpster area is always littered with trash and furniture and there is always yelling of kids and the smell of weed (try edibles, bruh). Management is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of and maintenance takes their sweet time to respond to anything. Our rent has been increased at every chance they get. Just not worth it for this outdated, termite infested garbage of an apartment complex.
We are experiencing lack of serious attention to repair the cable/wifi wiring in our unit. Due to maintenance cutting our wire while they were renovation an upstairs unit, they are denying responsibility and will not fix the wiring! Spectrum tech guy says they, the property, definitely cut it and they are responsible to fix it as they aren't permitted to do so! So now we are NEVER able to have cable/wifi in our home because the property mgrs are denying responsibility and won't even try to listen to reason! They absolutely suck! If it's not one thing it's another with these people! Our only option now is to move out and find a new place! Thanks a lot Equity!
Property Mgmt is terrible. Always sending out emails in regard to some "emergency plumbing issue".. After a year or receiving these type of emails one would expect for the plumbing issues to be resolved but they are not. Many of us were forced to move within a day or two notice due to sewer backing up and leaking from the slab foundation. I have been without hot water for 3+ days as of the time of this review. If you don't want to drive yourself crazy, don't move here.
Great place to live, very friendly staff. Had fantastic experience.
These apartments have had bug infestations, water sewage problems, and a recent change of management has made it all even worse. There are drug deals in the parking lot, and laundry has been stolen multiple times. Water is shut off completely at least 3 times a month, neighbors complain of leaks, terrible odor from all the sewage problems, the pest control has had to inspect every single apartment in early January 2019, and the individuals that manage this place do not care about the tenants at all. Brad, who is the new on site manager at Alta Mesa, has made living here even more terrible than before. He does not help with fixing problems with the apartment, he is disrespectful, rude, and a terrible person overall. The Equity Group, which manages Alta Mesa apartments, are a horrible company. They do not have an easy way of contacting them. The calls are always routed to an answering service, and no one ever calls you back. It is not worth the $200-300 difference in rent to live here vs. the other apartment complexes in San Diego. Save yourself the trouble.
Moved into Alta Mesa Apartments on March 20, 2015. Early April I found two bed bugs that I originally thought were beetles. Due to a transitioning of management it was overlooked. In June I was rearranging our bedroom and found 10-15 bed bugs of all stages. I contacted management. Within a week an inspector came to check, a week after that someone came and sprayed. Management is only doing the minimal possible thing to eradicate the bed bugs. No compensation for loss of property. Management offered to allow a break in lease. Pest control advised against a move while infested with bed bugs. We the tenants are expected to go through the expensive lengthy process without any reimbursement for costs associated. Previous tenants had bed bugs and according to management failed to notify. Several other units within this one building have been invested over the last year. Adjacent unit is currently infested now our unit is infested again. Management refuses heat treatment that pest control has advised. Currently in the process of lawsuit to recover the damages from negligence by Alta Mesa upon preparing our unit for new tenants (us) bed bugs would have been easily spotted and should have been properly taken care of before renting to new tenant.
There is not any real landscaping per-say. It looks almost like a motel would look. There are about 4 buildings and each have a pool and a laundry room that is a plus. There is no AC unless you pay money to have them install one and pay monthly to use it. You can not alter the windows to put a semi permanent one in so you pay a lot to have a portable AC that only cools one room. The best part of the apartment is the size of the units and the move in special they had. Management has been a little shotty to get a hold of and it took 3 months to get maintenance to fix issues I reported on move in. I moved here February 2015.
