With a fitting name, the Greater Hobby area of Houston sits nearly 14 miles southeast of downtown. A fitting name because many residents enjoy more space and lower cost of living than neighborhoods closer to the city, freeing up budgets and schedules. The Greater Hobby Area is a largely residential community alongside the William P. Hobby Airport.
While Downtown Houston is just a 20-minute drive away, there is still plenty to do in the Greater Hobby Area. There’s a diverse selection of restaurants that serve everything from bubble tea to Tex-Mex, and shops selling antiques or sporting gear. Greater Hobby also provides plenty of green spaces and recreation space for residents to enjoy without having to venture far from their apartments, such as Blackhawk Park.

Property Ratings at 8950 Glencrest
They’re cheap enough apartments in a relatively convenient location. That’s about where the positives run out. If you’re a single renter and own two vehicles you’ll have to park one out on the street, where more and more “no parking” signs keep going up and you’ll routinely see busted glass from break-ins. The tow truck makes its 0 dark 30 rounds in the middle of the night for those chancing it inside where half the parking lot is available. The laundry rooms are always under maintenance, the pools are rarely cleaned, these apartments routinely lose water every other week during the summer. They have overly restrictive patio policies to where you’re not even permitted to have a grille or stage a bicycle. The ladies from the managers office will do their walk-thru every day to see who they can hit with notices on the front door. I’m not sure what client their aim is towards, but everything about this place feels more miserable the more they try to clean it up. At least with the old ownership the people working the residence office were more geared to the renter instead of whoever the management company from Illinois that bought this property is. Shady.
Rats, Rats and more RATS!!! My unit was very comfortable but infested with rats. Every time I called the office to fix the issue they would say we are sending someone to repair any holes in your unit's but no one would ever come. Using sticky pads we would catch at least three a day. One night it was so bad I thought someone was trying to break in my unit but it was a huge rat that got his tail stuck on a sticky pad and was trying to free himself when we went in the pantry we found blood and a tail. It bite his tail off to escape!!! I had to put all my groceries in secured totes which didn't fix the issues because they started knocking the trash can down in my kitchen. I had a pack of tortillas that looked like my 4 year old took a bite from but it was the rats. My next door neighbors moved out and it got worse. I was forced to leave one month prior to my lease being up I spoke with the office manager at the time to explain to her why me and kids were forced to leave. She said she'd just charge me a prorated fee instead I receive a 1200 bill for a hole in the wall that a rat dug!!!!
I have been living here going on a year and I must say my experience has been good here. I’ve read a lot about high crime and roach infestation, so I was really skeptical about living here. However, I have never had a roach problem at all. I am a very clean person and don’t have any issues with pest.I believe roach problems exist with those who aren’t clean. I have never had an issue with crime either. My vehicle has never been broken into and I have a nice vehicle at that. My neighbors are great and no one is loud over in the area I am in. I did have a few maintenance issues in the beginning, but I’ve learned that the employees in the maintenance center weren’t putting in the request. My suggestion is call back and make sure your request was put in. I did have a leak in my unit and some a/c issues, but after speaking with the manager Minerva who is very friendly and understanding all my maintenance issues were resolved. Maintenance is friendly as well and not at all creepy. Rafael does an awesome job at getting maintenance issues resolved. The leasing part of the staff is also very friendly as well. Dio was my leasing person and kept me in the loop. Brianna went above and beyond when my a/c was out on a very hot Saturday when I couldn’t get through to maintenance via the emergency number. However, in the resident center some of the ladies can be rude. But other than that I can honestly say I’ve had a pretty good experience here and will be renewing my contract. Rent is incredibly inexpensive and the square footage that you get with it is worth it. The apartments are on the older side, but you get what you pay for. Hope this helps!
These apartments have been damaged by hurricane Harvey they still haven’t fix my ceiling and I still have a hole in it still have damage in my bedroom too so if u move in do a history on the apartment you move in
when they were showing me apartments, they looked nice and spacious with no smell. when I moved into my apartment though, it was nice, but i noticed when i sat down on the carpet, there were these bugs that jumped on my legs, bugs in the refrigerator and it has a smell that to this day, not enough air freshener plug ins can get rid of. i shampoo'd all of the carpet, so I am assuming now that it is coming from the vents and I cannot get rid of it. i received a bug treatment, and 2 days later i find other bugs pooping up dead in my bedroom. i called the maintenance center multiple times about coming in to check out the apartment and i keep getting the run around. "yes well call you back", "someone should be there to check out the apartment next Tuesday". its been 3 weeks and nothing. the bugs keep popping up, and the smell is constant, like wet moldy paint. i constantly wash my sheets because I am not comfortable with the bugs that i keep finding in my bedroom
The rent is cheap but don’t be fooled. I have been staying here for a year and I have had rats (I’m talking about HUGE MICKEY MOUSE RATS) , roaches, and many break ins into my apt and vehicle. If you are thinking about moving here .. DON’T . Worse mistake I’ve ever made.
I have lived for many years in the apartments of the glencrest st of this place is a very, very insecure place to live , the other time my neighbor was assaulted by two criminals who showed him a pistol. Also the glencrest is very dark at night and there are many drug dealers who hide in the dark areas and are also in apartments that are climbing climbing the bars of the complex. These thieves who will climb to your balcony no matter if it is up or down and break it the glass and enter to your apartment. Watch out for the night that thieves are walking around the area at night also by suspicious car .Everyday there are many incidents like robbery, assault, burglaries, they can break your door no matter what, the area of glencrest, morley and sourounding areas are very dangerous lo live and walk. The zone is red which means high crime , according H.P.D. and even everyday you can hear shotguns and many more incidents!!!
I would highly recommend not moving here if you don't have to. Problems include: high crime, have had my apartment and vehicle broken into as well as a guest staying with me held at gun point, bugs and gnats that come from drain, major water leaks in apartments due to old pipes, cheap maintenance tricks to repair things (went without a dishwasher for nearly 2 weeks and have had a leaky fridge for over a year). Our ceiling and walls had to be torn out due to massive pipe damage, maintenance left sheet rock residue throughout apartment. I have to make multiple calls to get repairs made (went a year with hole in my ceiling before any repairs were done) Management and staff are extremely rude. My most recent complaint is they have gone back and amended my lease to change rent due date. I have lived there for 5 years, with due date on 5th of the month. Suddenly after turning in my 2 month notice, I am told rent is now late if paid after 3rd. Any questions to the staff are met with dismissive and rude manner. They have no customer service abilities whatsoever. The end of my lease can't arrive soon enough!!
Been here 2 months ...2 weeks after moving in the apartment under me gets broken into in broad daylight.. Then the one next to that got broken into .The complex does not notify you if there is breakins in your building. And a lady got robbed by gunpoint for a car with her baby just last night. No Security and the police take 30 to 45 mins to respond to anything. So you are on your own.
Warning !!! :The apartments Alta Verde in the Glencrest are very dangerous, always see cars and suspects people loitering and walking in the area, besides the gates always is broken, another important detail the people who lives in the complex always bring his people of unknown reputation. A couple of months was the victim of a burglary in the apartment. So lately it has become very dangerous place to walk thru Glencrest st when the night comes, people drugged walk like zombies amid driveway and start to make a robbery or assault to any passerby !!!.
I stayed in these apartments for 6yrs always paid my rent on time and even a lil extra. As with any apartment you get your share of problems, the one thing that was the worst was when i was hospitalized for a month. I got home and first thing I did was go to the office and make them aware. I was greeted by the new management company with utter disrespect. I was told it didn't matter if you were here for a day or 10yrs a due date is a due date. The management didn't care that I could pay the balance in full in one week...needless to say I had to leave. My recommendation for anyone considering this place to exhaust all possible options the problems stated in other reviews are only the tip of the iceberg.
they are horrible with service maintenance and in-home bugs are ridiculous.
I moved here two years ago and have been pretty impressed with my stay here. They have great prices for their units and it's located 10-15 minutes from my university and job. We have new management who are making successful strives towards making this place feel more like home. The new maintenance team are very attentive and handle concerns quickly. Even though it's located right in the middle of temporary construction and constant chaos, they have kept these apartment looking great and top notch.
The apartments are horrible! The gates don't work and cars are constantly broken into. The apartment complex takes forever to fix any thing. I had a broken window and it took them a week to fix it!
New management just recently took over property so to be honest its not too hot at the present time
The 2 Bedroom Apartment is spacious !! The Landscape is very nice . I love my built in Bookshelf and Wet Bar.
I have been living in Broadway apt for ,8 years and I have enjoyed it and would not want to live anywhere else
They're pretty cool change of management has taken place and they're doing a pretty good job at maintaining the complex
These apartments are held together by tape! The pools are disgusting. The only improvements I ever see are the landscaping crew don't be fooled by that. My oven even fell apart.
I stay in Broadway square and they are not some good apartments. The water issues are crazy, everything is just bad. Roaches are out of control, bad communication with manager. The tenants are rude and disorderly, wholes in the wall. Overall it's just a bad place to live and no one should have to live under these condition especially if I have to pay over 600 dollars just to stay where I am currently living at. These conditions are very horrible and unacceptable.
Well the apartment were known as broadway square now they are called vista verda . No big problem , but the new owners are in over their heads had two big issues with them . Nothing else since . Outside at night big roaches . So you have to put down the white powder outside . Other then that my area is very quite but I'm still so ready to move gave it a 2 cause it's quite . Im big on review . So happy my year is almost up .
WORST apartments ever. They have bad service and their crime rate is very high. They stole my car and then stole my mirrors off my new car. You'll here gun shots every other day over here.. It's a bad place to be. Really can't wait to get away from here no one should be living here
I love living here. We have gone from a complex that was being neglected to one that is being revitalized. The new management has been really working to clean up and beautify the complex. They are getting rid of all the riff raff and have started major renovations to rhe grounds and buildings. My apartment is spacious. Very affordable and only five minutes away from work and shopping. I have lived here two years and don't plan on leaving. Can't wait to renew my lease!!!!
This is a wonderful complex they worked fast with me to move in and take care of any questions or problems i may have.
