Property Ratings at Alton Green
Seemed great at the beginning but they have plenty of pest issues that go unresolved and not worth the price.

There has been so much cockroaches is disgusting to live and I've only been here since May. The staff has been rude to me since I've complained and have done nothing to help or even care. They maintenance is speedy but they come and tell me there is nothing they can do for anything I've asked. On top of that I've had an harassment from the neighbor and they could care less. Horrible place to live and it's basically unlivable with the infestation situation. Please avoid these apartments I wish someone told me.

We are truly saddened to see that your time in our community has failed to meet your expectations. Our team works hard to provide a wonderful experience for all of our residents, and would love to learn more about how we can improve your time here. Please feel free to give us a call or come by our office anytime. Thank you.
My husband and I have been here for 3 years without any major complaints. I personally think they should invest in higher quality appliances because several of ours have broken (hot water heater, dryer, and fridge), BUT maintenance comes and fixes them immediately. Several neighbors have been evicted, so just make sure you’re aware of all costs before signing. The dog park is usually great, and I love having the security of the Amazon lock boxes. My biggest complaint is how loud the air conditioning units are- sleeping with the window open in the summer, it’s incredibly loud to have 3 AC units right outside our window, but we manage. Good amount of storage in hallway closet + balcony closet (we keep extra tires, luggage, golf clubs, camping and ski gear all in these 2 closets.)
I moved from out-of-state & the garage wasn’t ready when I moved in. Business center PCs not activated, so no security. On the 10th day of the month almost everyone in my building had a landlord notice. When neighbors poo, I can smell it. Apt smells like cigarettes/bar. No smoking policy so I guess people smoke inside. Laundry gives you bad morning breath & washer smells like a wet band-aid. Dryer turns off every 20 min & the line backs up. Apt started smelling like rat poop after they changed the HVAC filter. Last time I smelled this, it was from an old rat infestation. When HVAC turns on, air pours out of vents and under sinks. On a bad night people have their doors open & you can go out on the balcony and bathe in rat poop from other people’s apts. The living room rocks up and down in the wind. Water leaks repaired w/ tape and paint. I sealed the drafts, even the dishwasher cord, and the smells went away.. until my throat swelled up.. Looks like I have walnuts in my neck. Maintenance said my standards were too high, insulting me because I didn’t have a job yet. I was nice to them. Was told he was fired for not completing jobs & now I’m dealing w/ the same rude stuff from the maintenance manager, who should have completed jobs if not already completed. Lease is 1/2 over and they haven’t completed a single maintenance request. No maintenance receipts so you have to take screenshots. Knobs came off when I tried to use them. Bathroom sink clogged, water heater & fridge turned to max, living room light blew up cuz one of the lights was the wrong kind. Maintenance reclaimed the other bulbs to use in other units and left. Took a month to get my mailbox key & they ended up just giving me their key. Toilet runs, bubbles & smells, fridge motor broken, neighbors call in noise complaints, floors have leveling & make noise, hollow walls like a cheap Extended Stay & noise is amplified. Bedroom blinds broke, vertical blinds jam, wasps come in from nests on roof. Office is often closed for tour. On the 1st, office was open unsupervised w/ ~25 people waiting 30 min. Called 90 min later and no answer. Water kept leaking so high bill and no water. Bedroom doorstop painted on. $500 off special advertised only applies to apts w/ problems. Complex right outside calls cops multiple times per week. Bedroom carpet looks normal, but is so bumpy you need a bed w/ adjustable legs. Bedroom is so drafty sometimes I’m not sure if the window is open or not.
Let me start off by saying that the Alton Green complex is VERY nice and very well kept. We were in one of the newer apartments and it was absolutely perfect. We had a 1 BR 1 BA, and it was the absolute perfect space for my fiance and I. The office staff is wonderful and so friendly, and we enjoyed them thoroughly while we were there! The only thing I wasn't okay with with Alton was all of the fees they add in addition to your rent. I understand having to pay the water, trash, sewage, etc... but some of these fees are absolutely RIDICULOUS and are hidden from you (I'm assuming intentionally) basically until your first month of rent is due. All of these fees (including a fee for keeping up the grounds around the complex..?) added an additional $200-$250 to our rent, which wasn't doable for us. We ended up having to break our lease and move out due to these extra fees. I am not necessarily complaining about these fees because they are there at most complexes you go to... I'm more so not happy about the fact that they were hidden and not really explained to us before we signed a lease. Plus, on a lot of places on apartments.com, apartment complexes will be up front in their information and say whether or not there are fees for these things and how much they are, but Alton does not. That being said... it's a great complex, nice and clean apartments, and wonderful office staff and management. Just be aware if you're looking here about these extra fees- they will charge you for literally EVERYTHING that they can.
If you love the convenience of internet shopping, please save your money and do not live here. They have lost at least $400 worth of packages (mostly car parts) just in the last two months alone and will not take responsibility for it. These people are crooks, you can get a lot more for your money elsewhere, maybe even at a place that doesn't lose your packages. According to Alton Green, getting the things you paid for is a luxury, such as packages or a working dishwasher or a microwave that was promised when you moved in. I've lived here for almost 3 years and instead of being civil and telling me they were not going to offer to renew my lease in a timely manner, they instead gave me notice 40 days before I had to be out. They treat tenants as dollar signs, not people. Save yourself!

As to the matter regarding non-residents living in the community, we can assure you that while leasing violations such as these may occur, we enforce all policies and take action right away. Unfortunately, we cannot stop this from starting but if we are aware of the situation, we make sure it does not continue. We're proud of our team and truly aim to provide exceptional customer service. If any work is done in our community, either our trained maintenance technicians or certified vendors are authorized to complete the improvements and/or repairs. We hire maintenance technicians which are capable of working in this industry and use vendors for jobs that exceed our scope of work or if we need help addressing an issue. Additionally, while we do our best to uphold our policies regarding package receiving, unfortunately, if there are delivery errors or if a package is left at the wrong location, the carrier service will have the most accurate information regarding the location of your package. If you have any additional concerns or would like to discuss any other matters covered in your review, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team. Your happiness in our community is very important to us and we would like nothing more than to improve your experience and opinion during your stay. Thank you.
The management at the Alton Green are a bunch of crooks. The lady in the office lied to my wife about the process of moving out and as a result we got to pay a huge last bill. The keys were turned in before the end of June and we were still charged until July 11. We were good tenants who never paid late in the year we lived there. A new employee informed my wife the only notice that would be required would be notice of us staying. In addition to the thousand dollar fee for moving out at the end of our lease, here are some other reasons you should NEVER rent from these THIEVES. 1.) Nearly every week a stranger from Alton Green's came into our apartment without warning. 2.) Except for Brandon all the office people are terrible human beings. 3.) Pool is always gross. 5.) So many dog turds on the ground. Maybe office people could clean up on lunch breaks. 6.) Multiple rats spotted near dumpsters. I determined it was appropriate to post my review here considering I found this apartment complex thanks to Apartments.com.

Although they have gotten a little ridiculous with the rent Alton Green is a pretty decent apartment complex. Any time I have had a maintenance issue they have fixed it in a timely manner. The office staff is also super friendly and the location is pretty awesome. You are supper close to all types of shopping and the neighborhood is pretty quite. There are some cons. The walls a reaalllly thin so if you are not quite it is easy for your neighbors to hear all your business. Also I live in the back of the complex where parking can be a pain if you get home after 7 or 8pm. I have renewed my lease because it was hard to find an apartment that had the same amenities as Alton Green for an equal or lesser cost. All in All it is not a bad place to live.

Zero noise control from level to level. You can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do and say. Property management does nothing about noise complaints, so I guess if you are a bad neighbor, this is the place for you.

Hello Jenny, I am so sorry to hear about your negative experience at our community. We definitely take any and all noise complaints seriously and I would love to speak with you in person about your neighbors. Please feel free to stop by the office, call, or email us and I will be happy to address any issues. - MaryAnn, Community Manager
DONT BOTHER!! Apartment Management is HORRIBLE!! "If you have a complaint, keep it to yourself" is their standpoint. We have been dealing with our crazy neighbors very loud, very annoying, very huge dogs for months and they are doing nothing. The only thing they are doing, is treating me like I am making this up when I have provided many video tape/sound recordings of the issue as well as have had the parking authority come out and witness the noise, in the middle of the night. I have had to go through the County Animal Control center to get anything done and the office still is doing nothing. Save your time and energy and go somewhere else

Hello, I apologize for your negative experience at our community. We always take any and all noise complaints seriously and I apologize for anything that may have come across differently. My main reason for moving in here was because they allowed pets. (I downsized from a cheaper 900 square foot apartment to a 700 square foot apartment just so I could have a pet). I was told it would be $250 deposit, and then $15/month to have a cat. Reasonable. I didn't have a pet yet, so once I was all moved in and settled I started looking for a little furry cat friend. I finally found one! Best kitty ever... the shelter needed a receipt to show proof of allowing me to have a cat from my apt. When I went to pay the $250 dollars the leasing officer said "That will be a $500 deposit - $250 non refundable"... what?! "and $25 a month". I haven't lived here but a month and a half and already they've changed it!!!!! I asked why, and the only reason I got was 'It's the owners decision.' The greedy owners decided they wanted more money. The apartment is SUPER drafty too. Expect a large electricity bill!!! I will be moving out of here as soon as my lease is up.
