What a magnificent and fastidiously well-maintained property! Great vibe and is, in close walking proximity, to all the best that downtown San Diego offers!
I was looking for an apartment on a very short notice and inquired about ALX online. Shelby reached out and was super helpful in scheduling a tour of the building the same day and was extremely knowledgeable about everything. She helped me have a quick and easy move in and I’ve been enjoying living here ever since. It’s clean and well taken care of and it’s conveniently located close to where I work and the excitement of downtown is in my backyard.
Just moved in and the leasing experience was extremely smooth. Shelby and Kaii were super helpful and timely when responding to inquiries. The building is in great shape, the gym is solid and the people are friendly. Overall a really positive experience.

Beautiful building with friendly management, great location with easy access to the harbor walk. If only they could prevent loud parties in the middle of the night, and keep the elevator fresh thought the weekend.

Beautiful building with great amenties. Maintenance of landscaping needs improvement. Carpet is hideous, looks dirty and desperately needs replacement. Management team is excellent and James (security) keeps us safe. Nice place to live if you are not bothered by homeless tents all over the premise and neighborhood.

ALX is probably the most luxurious and tenant friendly building in downtown.
Building is great and so is management but need more security and less entitled residents who don’t pick up after their dogs or can’t be bothered to dispose of their trash correctly when the chutes are down. Challenges of living in downtown are also becoming more extensive within the immediate area.
Terrible apartment building, stay away! Building infected with rats and cockroaches! Management is useless, building is a mess, packages get stolen, F-
ALX provides an aesthetic and atmosphere that anyone living in a city could appreciate. The amenities are world class, and the staff exceed any expectations of a reasonable person. I thoroughly look forward to living there.

The common areas look amazing. The entire place is so beautiful and well-maintained that it feels like a resort. The units are pricey, but justified by the size and quality. Availability of staff is lacking though.
Bait and switch!!! Been lied to and manipulated into signing the lease being told that assigned parking is available AND been charged for it and was told that no parking is available AFTER I signed the lease
I've been living here since they opened and I absolutely love it. The building is beautiful and the staff has always been helpful. Even during Covid the staff has made a huge effort into making me still feel welcome and appreciated. I believe ( and have seen in person ) that if you've had an issue with the staff, its you.

Bottom Line Up Front - Used to be great, now a poorly run, cheap imitation of what it used to be - all still at sky high prices. I want a place that I can feel at home, and ALX simply isn't that anymore. This used to be a great property with amazing amenities, semi-decent location (if you didn't mind homeless in every direction), and solid value.. however, sadly, it has taken a severe turn for the worse under the property manager. Before COVID, management was already starting to earn a dishonest reputation with a few sketchy policies. After.. you judge: - Management holding parties for their friends in closed off community amenities (i.e. pool & fire pits at night, common rooms areas with external visitors, etc.). Not only is it spitting in the face of every paying resident who can't use these same facilities, it is irresponsible given the pandemic to be directly violating the health code.. - Lazier maintenance & cleaning - Management will talk about how they've stepped up cleaning, but try walking to the 2nd floor courtyard through the urine caked hallway that has reeked for months.. - Constant threats of legal action in community wide blast emails. We all want safety from COVID, but its a drag to come "home" to a place that is so so aggressive and mean towards residents (while straight up breaking the restrictions themselves).. - Lax garage security - Cars, bikes, and storage lockers of the community have all been broken into or stolen. Management follows up with a "please be careful" email and zero action.. - Industrial window cleaning equipment has been left haphazardly around the community - safety hazard. When residents complained, management threated to sue them.. - Excuse of fake COVID restrictions to shut down or limit amenities, often with straight-up lies about why things are shut down. (i.e. the pool/firepits/etc "have to close at 5pm".. yet there is not one county or state restriction to back up these arbitrary restrictions). It is simply management trying to be cheap while you still have to pay full rent.. - Cheap maintenance - For what you pay for, common maintenance actions have noticeably cheapened over the past few months - everything from air filters to repair work is now done with bargain basement products.. Overall, I am so disappointed to see a property that had such great potential be slowly ruined by poor management. The one bright spot are most of the junior staff who really do try their best to be helpful.

Many points were made in this review and we strive to maintain the highest level of customer service and will try to address each and everyone. However, if you'd like to discuss these in greater detail you can reach out to myself or my team directly. We always love to hear from our residents on how to improve the customer experience. Due to COVID restrictions, many of our beautiful amenities are closed as management adheres to local and statewide restrictions. Our top priority is resident health and safety. In regards to the courtyard, that area is cleaned and sanitized daily. Management does their best to remind residents to pick up after their pets and have supplied several pet waste bag stations around the community to help aid in this effort. In light of COVID, management and maintenance increased cleaning and sanitization efforts and practices including state of the art cleaning and sanitization products. We would like to work towards a resolution, so if you are willing, please reach out to us at (619) 764-5316 to discuss this further.
The homeless ruin the neighborhood and the decision to keep amenities closed for 9 months is ridiculous when other communities have opened them. The county provided guidelines which are not law and the reaction by ALX management and ownership have been exaggerated and unreasonable.
I really like living here and Im looking forward to actually being able to use the amenities that closed because of COVID 19.
Great community. Arguably the best in downtown San Diego. Highly recommend.
