About Ananda Community
The Ananda Community is a world apart. The first thing you notice when you walk into the Ananda Community is large central green lawn and the big trees. The swimming pool, orchard, garden, and central lawn provide beautiful spaces for young and old alike. The next thing you notice is the sense of peace. You feel a world away from the bustling Bay Area and its hectic way of life. It’s not that the community actually is isolated or far away. It’s just a few blocks from El Camino, right at the Mountain View/Palo Alto border. Underlying everything external is a deep sense of spiritual connectedness. Residents are naturally considerate of one another and cooperate together. It is a rare entity these days, an intentional community, created for one purpose: to provide a harmonious, spiritually supportive way of life. All are welcome.
Ananda Community is an apartment community located in Santa Clara County and the 94040 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Los Altos Elementary attendance zone.

Property Ratings at Ananda Community
For those looking to rent a very special, peaceful, reasonably-priced, well-maintained apartment in an unusually sweet little garden-like community, this may have been under your flower-yearning noses all along. Yes, right here in Mt View, a few paces from Palo Alto. It's a pretty few acres of oasis, adorned with trees, gardens, birdsong, lawns, flowers, meditative cabanas and icons, and an inviting swimming pool too. It's also located by the Caltrain railroad tracks which for some is an occasional whish-by of urban charm, and for others is episodic urban noise. The most remarkable thing about this little community is its quiet kindness. Everyone I met is present, inclusive, generous, aware, and naturally kind, as if this were the only way to live -- and of course it is! If you like beautiful surroundings and lovely people, I suggest giving this Community an un-rushed visit! And maybe stay for a while or a decade.
My unit overlooks the expansive green lawn with big trees, flowers & meditation gazebos. My life here is calming & joyful because the residents & mgmt are kind, caring, & considerate. My apartment is lovely. It feels like a haven in a busy world!
I've lived in many different places in the Bay Area including the beautiful coast near Half Moon Bay. But this one has been one of the nicest places I have lived. I don't plan to ever leave! The grounds are gorgeous with many beautiful trees, flowers, and plants. It is quiet and peaceful, which I really value. The residents here are kind and considerate. It's been a godsend for me to feel like I am in a genuine community, especially in this last year of shelter-in-place.

This community is a find like no other, with a beautiful green space, luscious trees, gardens, birds singing in the morning, a gorgeous swimming pool, and the kindest neighbors you could ask for. Even with noises around, as is inevitable in the city, there is a certain tranquility that permeates. The managers go out of their way to take care of each and every resident, like they would their own family. All this in the midst of the action of Silicon Valley, a true gem of a place to live. I love living here and cannot recommend it highly enough.
If your top priorities are a well thought out floor plan, quiet & thoughtful neighbors, superbly maintained common spaces, lovingly maintained gardens, friendly neighbors and responsive and friendly managing staff, then you should consider living at the Ananda community. I know that apartment units in this community are rarely open to-let and are snagged up very quickly. I was on a waitlist for a few months before a unit opened up for me! I’ve seen some newer construction apartments that have dark dreary passage ways with dark apartment entrances at periodic intervals that house people whom you never ever see or get to know. This is not Ananda! The exterior layout is open and welcoming and the units I’ve seen all have natural lighting, and windows that generally face green spaces. Most of my neighbors are meditators and so peace and tranquility permeates the ambience. They celebrate most holidays with games, potlucks, sing alongs and/or other social events that are open to all! They have a lovely pool area and a common green space that is well maintained. It is a safe place for children to play and for adults to socialize. I have a two bedroom townhouse with an outdoor seating area with a little space to have my own mini garden, that I cherish! The construction is a bit old and it doesn’t have an in-unit washer dryer or dishwasher. It was an inconvenience in the beginning, but honestly, I feel I clean up as I go in the kitchen and now I prefer it. I have noticed people with dishwashers are not nearly as efficient with cleaning dishes! The floor plan is well thought out and my unit has plenty of natural lighting and ventilation. The rent is month-to-month and so you are not tied to a lease. I love living here, and I highly recommend it if you are considering it.
I can't imagine living anywhere else at this point. The people here are so kind and friendly, I actually know my neighbors! The community green area is very beautiful and tranquil, with a pleasant pool, a communal dining area for those who want to meet new friends (though that's been postponed during the pandemic). I really feel like I live with friends, as opposed to my urban experience of isolation in Los Angeles. There are beautiful shrines to meditate in, a prolific community garden, and even outdoor concerts from time to time - unlike any apartment I've ever been a part of.
I love living here. The nature all around makes it feel like I'm living in the country. I've never seen an apartment complex on such beautiful grounds in the Bay Area. Tall trees, large expanses of grass, flowers, fruit trees, walkways...and a lovely pool are part of the 7-acre property. The apartment is located in a safe residential area with wide, walkable streets. It's about a 30 minute bike ride to Stanford, very close to the San Antonio Caltrain station, and close to Central Expressway and 101. It's also very close to shopping (Trader Joe's, Safeway, Whole Foods, Sprouts). Most of the residents are meditators, so people are really thoughtful about not disturbing their neighbors. The apartments are next to Caltrain, but they go by fast, and after a few weeks of living here, I didn't notice them anymore. The windows are soundproofed on both sides. The apartments themselves are older on the inside, but very well maintained by the team on site, who are fast and responsive with anything that comes up. I'm surprised there aren't other reviews here, but perhaps it's because most of the residents have lived in the community for many years. This place is a hidden gem, honestly.
