What began as a resort getaway for the Low Country elite in the 19th century has blossomed into a thriving community on the outer edge of the Charleston area. Countless buildings in town have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, so the local architecture definitely contributes to the charming atmosphere.
The town has experienced massive growth since the 1980s, meaning many of the apartments and homes are fairly new, and the cost of living is very affordable compared to many places closer to the city. Only about 30 minutes to downtown Charleston via I-26, it’s a great place for commuters to call home. Parents will appreciate the terrific local schools and family-friendly events like the annual Flowertown Festival.

Property Ratings at Arbor Village
No complaints so far love it. Everything was smooth and easy great staff. Can't wait to get settled in. Will definitely encourage people to live here.
The office staff is great and it’s a relatively quiet neighborhood. My biggest complaint has to be the trash piling up every so often but the valet trash kind of makes up for it.
The new management is really on top of things. There’s a lot of general improvements around the complex, they’re friendly, responsive, and seem to really care about the quality of life for residents here.
The valted celings are nice, but I would give them up if it means not hearing everything my neighbors do and say all day and night. Trash is not picked up as scheduled. This leads to piles on the curbs and a mess at the dumpster when you first drive in. There has not been a working parking lot light near the 500 building in the 2 years we have lived here. It is extremely dark in the morning when leaving for work. We have had cars broken into, and this just makes them easy targets. I will say it is obvious that the new owners are taking care of things. The light in the parking lot is a safety issue that needs attention, though.
Our move was great and we were welcomed warmly. The handbook was a great help! We experience trash collection problems frequently and people refuse to clean up after their dogs. Both of these things lead to a very unattractive village.
Since I have been a resident here there has been a different manager and staff and inconsistency. The most frustrating part lately was the water issues and new owners just sprung an extra bill on all residence. I have been very disappointed in how the breeze ways were so nasty but they eventually got to it and not sure when they will clean again. The garbage pick up is inconsistent and the trash sits at the entry of the complex piled up for days. We pay a lot of money to live here and what we pay for sometimes doesn't amount to the service provided. You pay for pest control monthly but have to request it, it should be a regular scheduled maintenance to each unit. I understand that new owners have taken over but it would be nice of they would not increase the rates so hight each renewal, people are doing their best and they keep adding more to the cost of living. I appreciate the communication from Matthew and Lauren during changed. I hope things continue to get better.
People friendly overall but some people not picking up after their dogs! Nice weight room and fre coffee and hot chocolate machine is free! Place to sit and visit while having coffee at the clubhouse
Friendly staff and willing to work with you if you are having any issue with anything. Normally respond back to you quickly when you trying to reach them if they aren't available
It’s a nice place to live but the trash pickup people are a little slack with trash left and dripping down the stairs. The teenage kids are in the pool lounge area all the time, and really loud, and rude but they are teenagers so it’s expected.
I like the building, service requests have always been answered with speed- except of course, hvac complaints. This thing wants 140 characters but there’s not much else to say. It’s an apartment.
It's beautiful, quiet and I love my space. I wish we had a playground for my daughter but we are surrounded by nature and like me my daughter loves it.
It’s Been quiet since i moved here. Pet friendly and all staff is nice. I have a nice 2br2b on the 3rd floor with a beautiful sunroom and a decent view
Love the apartment size and layout Staff is professional and helpful Great location Great amenities Lovely neighbors Can’t say enough would recommend to anyone on a budget price is right
Takes a while for someone to pick up the phone at the main office. The actual office staff are very friendly and welcoming. The maintenence team is very good as well.
I have been here for 4 years. Some areas needs work. The clubhouse should be available for residents to use whenever as long as permission is granted. Overall I like living here.
Love the apartment itself! Very nice and spacious. Wish the landscaping was nicer and light outside didn’t flash as much. Plenty of parking spaces which is great!
The apartment is nice, wish landscaping looked better but overall apartment is very spacious and love the layout. neighbors are all very nice. lots of people walking dogs, most dogs are extremely friendly. not very loud ever. comfortable place to live.
Dog poop everywhere. People don’t pick up after themselves and don’t care if no action taken. Parking lot where we live is pitch dark at night. Took months just to get one light working and still others not or flickering. Been communication about resurfacing of parking lots, papers going out then nothing happens, and no follow up communication. Mailboxes have no light so don’t feel safe getting my own mail after dark.
Overall very nice community. Great amenities. Good location. Friendly staff and office personnel. Recommend it as a great spot to live in the Summerville area.
Arbor Village has been home to me for several years now, and as far as the oveeall experience goes, it is smack dab in the middle of all the places I've lived. The apartments are nice, but there are constant nagging issues within the apartments themselves, as well as exterior issues in the community. Improvements seem to constantly be delayed or just never finished, and much of that could be due to the revolving door for staffing. It's almost a guarantee you'll meet someone new every time you go to the office or submit a maintenance request. Overall, it isn't terrible, and many of the issues aren't necessarily unique to Arbor Village, but I'd be lying to say that there isn't room for improvement.
Matt is the best Manager!!! Great staff and any issues are immediately addressed. I have lived here for over 5 years and my experiences have been very positive!!
Warm welcoming community, wonderful gym and pool. Maintenance is always handled quickly and professionally! The property management team is on point especially Matt!
We were initially skeptical about viewing this apartment complex due to online reviews. However, following a tour with Matt, we learned about the new management and ongoing enhancements. Key benefits include a pool, playground, gym, and common area with computers and beverages. The location is excellent, particularly for families, with nearby access to Ashley River Park, Ashley River Library, and Walmart, while maintaining a quiet and clean atmosphere.
I’ve been living here for almost 2 years and I must say it’s very peaceful here and quite until my neighbor gets on his bike lol it’s very beautiful outside and the pool area is my favorite place in the summer
The office staff is friendly, but the property itself is not well maintained. There is always trash on the lawn and the dog waste is terrible. No one picks up after their dogs. Also the light at the dog park has been out for months.
Pretty good community little to no complaints. Been living here 3 years now getting kinda expensive but most apartments are now days. Love my apartment leave favorite would be the lighting fixtures with the soft white bulbs that are not easy to change
The atmosphere and property are very nice. The apartments are also very nice. The office staff are helpful for the most part. It is frustrating when they don't seem to have answers on certain things; why garbage isn't being picked up, the package room overflowing with deliveries, etc. It's frustrating that they seem so nonchalant about services the tenants actually pay for. Also, the communication from the office could be ALOT better. Overall it's a nice community but could be better if those things mentioned were taken more seriously.
The apartment itself is beautiful. I will say, the cost has become very expensive. Especially with paying back pay every month. The staff is wonderful.
With new management I like they way their sprucing up the neighborhood. Pretty quiet and love the location. Kids school and activities are nearby. Decent pricing. Recommend
The community is quiet and clean. The staff members are very warm and friendly. They are also very accommodating and flexible to meet the needs of the residents.
The people thier are really nice and friendly and I love the convenience of the community and the pool and I wish that they would have more events and game night
Great community, quiet environment, great staff, great rates, great location, quick responses from property manager, and good maintenance work
It has been a pleasure to move to this apartment complex, what I would ask is to pave the area that is without doing so as this makes the complex lose its beauty, and that the neighbors comply with the rules such as taking out the garbage on the days indicated which are Thursday and Sunday, and not every day as many do or leave them in the corners of the complex this makes it look dirty and unpleasant, and if they have the need to take out the trash before they leave it in place where all the garbage is deposited, for neighbors who have their pets please pick up the poop from them as my son and my husband stepped in it.
Good experience so far. Only thing I don’t like is we’ve had people just walk in to the apartment from maintenance without a heads up. Should’ve had a heads up
Disgusting old apartments. Crawling with roaches and other pests. People move in and out very quickly. Dont listen to the reviews. Everything is far away. Management sucks. Trust me you'll find something way better.
I moved in Nov.2022 and they have been amazing. Justin especially (maintence man) he helped me immediately when I put in a request of my air conditioning freezing. No wait and came back the next day to make sure it still ran. I will be renewing my lease.
Property Manager at Arbor Village, Responded To This Review
We are thrilled to hear that you decided to renew your lease! Thank you for recognizing Justin's exceptional service!
In 2 months our AC has been out multiple times for a total of more than 10 days. It takes several days for them to respond to look at it and it’s not repaired correctly. The grounds are in poor condition with trash, open sewer lines and dog waste. The dog park has become in useable due to the dog waste and holes. The valet trash company drops bags in the parking lot and does not pick them up. The lighting is bad and they recently had a shooting at the pool next to the office! We have repeatedly asked in a constructive manner for management to give some attention to these issues. I have even emailed the management company with no response. Terrible and they are raising the rent to ridiculous rates.

I’ve been here for a couple of weeks and so far I love it! All of my neighbors are friendly and everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. The grounds are kept nicely and the office staff is great. I enjoy using all of their amenities and for the price that you’re paying I feel like it’s a fair deal. As of now I really have no complaints, which definitely says a lot because I can be very picky lol.

Thank you kindly, Cheyenne! Your 5-star rating of Arbor Village is greatly appreciated by our team. We're striving to offer only the best for our residents, so thank you for sharing your top-notch experiences with us. Let us know if you ever need assistance!
Arbor Village Apartments in Summerville sucks. 1. There are not enough parking spaces for a lot of the units. AND GET THIS: They charge $35 a month to rent a "Reserved Parking" sign so you can have a place to park! 2. The buildings are made of cheap, porous wood. You can actually hear the closing of cupboards, if you can believe that, and people washing their dishes in the sink. Yes, it is that bad. 3. They charge twice for trash. One fee is for the trash dumpster, and a second fee is for someone to pick up the trash at your door if you don't want to walk out to the dumpster. It doesn't matter if you don't use the service that picks up your trash, because you are still charged for it. 4. Their rent increases are unbelievably high. This is why Arbor Village apartments has such a high turnover rate. Many people move out in less than a year.
This property has quickly got worse and worse. Management has changed over 4 times since I've lived here. I feel they're CONSTANTLY do walk throughs, rules are constantly changed and things don't get done. The company is money hungry and looking to fine you for anything and everything with no warning. Propane in grilles are ALWAYs empty, unless you pay for a parking spot, you better be home before 530 or you'll be hiking to get to your apaetment. They have a special clause in the lease stating that they have the RIGHT to CHANGE the lease whenever they see fit. This place is trying to compete but they just cant. The ladies in the front a very friendly, but that's about it.

The location is great & has most of the amenities that were promised. This complex staff started strong (only open a little over 1 year to date), but has slid a bit. Concerns brought to the attention of office staff are often never addressed or rectified. If they are addressed, it takes a considerable amount of time.
Arbor Village apartments in Summerville are amazing. The homes are very nice and modern with real solid wood cabinets, beautiful hardwood floors, and functional layouts. What makes living here wonderful, though, is the staff and community atmosphere. The office staff, Ryane and Patty, are incredibly kind and helpful and the maintenance is top notch. Seriously, we are extremely happy in our beautiful apartment. We've been here for 6 months and it's the nicest place we've ever lived.
It's a great community and fairly brand new complex. The management staff is great! Wish it was closer to my job 18-20 miles away. During school seasons, it takes me an hour, sometimes longer to go 18-20 miles in the mornings because of traffic. Gave it 4 stars because I believe they underestimated on the amount of parking spots for each building.
