If you haven’t been to South Laurel yet, imagine a hilly, wooded community with attractive houses and peaceful roads. Together with its manicured lawns and shady sidewalks, you might think this is a suburban neighborhood. Well, sort of – it is, after all, only 18 miles from DC -- but there’s much more to South Laurel. For one, the Patuxent Research Refuge is its backyard.
The vast Patuxent Research Refuge covers nearly 13,000 acres of land. It was established in 1936 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to support wildlife research – the only one established for such a purpose. The refuge is ideal for birdwatching, hiking, and fishing. For those who prefer shopping to hiking, Baltimore Avenue is home to Towne Centre at Laurel, a large shopping plaza with a movie theater and several restaurants. Head into Downtown Laurel to visit the shops and restaurants along Main Street.

Property Ratings at Arden Pointe Apartments
This place goes through managers, and staff just as frequent as you shower. There are rats all around the disgusting trash bins because the type of people they have moved in do not throw their trash in the bins. NOTHING gets fixed, there are roaches, trash laying around, dog poop EVERYWHERE! ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY MONEY MONEY. Live in your car before coming here.

My roommate and I moved in on December 28th 2023. When we moved in the apartment it was not ready for us. No door locked, the main bedroom had a big hole at the door behind the door and the bath tub it was clogged (i forgot how many times we had to call maintenance to come over and fix everything). Every single day we have had to open a ticket to the maintenance. We had an issue with dryer machine, ceiling leak, toilet. One of the maintenance guys left the heater valve open and we had to call the firefighters to solve the issue, our apartment it was extremely dangerous and smelling gas so bad. The office never did anything about it, not even an effort to compensate us for that. If you walk to the condominium is better if you pay attention where are walking, you going to find a lot of big rats around. Recently at my apartment some of them appeared in my kitchen!!!! And guess what nobody did anything!!! Please, this place is not for you!! Find a better neighborhood and a better apartment. We hate this place!!!

I moved in on January 13th, and it has been non-stop issues since I moved in: 1. The floor and ceiling are paper thin. Every single footstep your upstairs neighbor takes will be heard and the creaking is extremely loud. 2. The leasing office has yet to charge me the correct amount for rent since I moved in, and I'm about to talk to an attorney to have the issue resolved. 3. The office staff does NOT answer phones nor emails. If you're a resident and you try to contact them, you will not get a response Save yourself the migraine and spend $50 more to move somewhere else. DO NOT move here.

living at arden pointe has been one of the most annoying experiences of my life. the very first year here management was still decent so things were a little better taken care of, but now everything is terrible. i have been here for 3 years now & my air filter has only been changed ONCE. the floors are so weak! i cannot stress that enough. if you are not on the top floor of your building, good luck to you because you will here EVERY SINGLE FOOTSTEP that is above you, even if they have a pet, you will hear the pet running around & barking above you. i cannot stress this enough, every step they take will sound like they are stomping. whoever is above you will basically dictate when you can sleep especially if they are on the larger side due to how terribly padded the floors are. the walls are just as thin also! so yes, you can hear a full conversation between your neighbors, their tv, and their toilet flushing. the neighborhood within itself is NOT SAFE. people seem to think police come around to keep it safe, but no .. they are ALWAYS here looking for all the suspicious activity that takes place. there will be people just standing outside24/7, smoking of course, even inside the building doorway, you’ll also hear plenty of gunshots as well :) plenty of the people who live here are disgusting, so there will be trash all over the place, dog poop is never picked up .. just pay attention to all the people who walk their dog(s) with no bag in hand, it’s so disgusting. the people who come to clean do such a great job, but by the evening, it’s back looking like only nasty people live here. maintenance is very slow, so don’t expect to have anything done for you unless you are literally pressing them out to get it done. Parking is the most dumbest thing at this complex. if you come home after 5, you will not get any parking. you’ll have to park far away from your building because folks from all over come here & park all close to the buildings as if they live here. the towing company is a joke. they pick and choose when they will come, they will happily tow a person who lives here who has a sticker if you park in a reserved spot that no one owns versus a person with no sticker at all. everything here is a joke, i’m sure they will be shut down soon or at least i hope so … take heed to this message, don’t move here! rent may be cheap, but the constant headache that comes with it all is NOT worth it!! do yourself a favor & find somewhere else.
Dirty, guys standing outside your building smoking and playing loud music, my car had a bullet shot through it.
Stay Away , Stay Away , Stay Away ! I lived here for 5 years and it was horrible . I’ve seen at least 4 property managers come and go and the current ones are the worst of all as they are only money driven . The Floors and walls are paper thin
My parents and I live in Arden Pointe Apartments better known as Laurel Square we have no air and haven’t had any for three weeks. We’ve called the rental office and the corporate office and nothing has been done. I talked to the regional manager and she assured me on May 23rd that the new air conditioner has been ordered and she’ll keep in touch with the ETA (never happened). Last Thursday my mom talked to one of the maintenance men and they told her our Air conditioner was in and they were just waiting for the contractors to come in and install it. The contractor came yesterday and now they need another part. I called the rental office all day yesterday and they wasn’t answering all morning. They finally answered at 4pm and I had to hold to talk to the “acting property manager”, I was on hold for almost 20 mins and then walked around to the leasing office. I spoke to the assistant regional manager and she told me there are 100 and something tickets ahead of mine that have 90 degrees in their homes. Then she says they’re still waiting on the air conditioner and used an example of when you buy clothes you have to wait for them to be delivered. I told her that’s neither here nor there because when I buy clothes I’m given a tracking number and when I need them for a special event I’m able to overnight them. Now I’m at my neighbor’s house and she has a 1 week old baby and her refrigerator has not been working for 3 days the baby’s milk and their food is spoiling. Not to mention she has no air either?? P.S. we had to buy our own refrigerator because we were calling from November of 2020-February 2021 with our food freezing and they wouldn’t reimburse us. Also, we had no heat until the 1st week of December last winter. Double P.S. last summer there was a shooting in broad daylight, where our window in the den was shot through just seconds after my mom left out of there and my dad walked right past the event thinking it was fire works and kids were outside playing. No accommodations! Not even an apology letter in the hallway. What’s on time though is the notifications about paying rent and when people are late they are quick to put a notice on the door. Can you say the trenches!
Please read this before you rent this property. Arden Pointe is the worst appartment in the entire state of Maryland in my opinion. I lived on this property from November 2016 till November 2017 (1 year lease term). Here are the highlights of all my experience. 1. The property is considered a gated community but gates are never closed. People from all over come lingering around property. In fact, someone was killed in his car on this property in 2017 or so. According to management, the man does not reside in arden pointe. 2. The walls are thin that you can hear everything your neighbors are doing from fighting to doing laundry to playing video games in the middle of the night having sex all day. If you are working from home, you’ll regret renting this property. It was horrible. 3. If you pay your rent late, they will add it to your credit and rental history as eviction. This is no joke. I paid my rent late but I paid it all off before the court date and I did not owe them anything by the end of my lease term, yet they listed it on my record that I was evicted. I tried calling them many times to rectify this situation but they weren’t helpful. I appealed this matter to court and it was denied. Please, save yourself the headache..do not live on this property. Think about it, they have the most spacious living room/bedroom in laurel yet they are one of the cheapest. Why is that? The manager is a terrible person and she will never help you. The maintenance and office staff seems to be good actually. 4. There are roaches on this property (when I lived there). STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY.
While the neighbors are nice, the grounds were well maintained, and the apartments were standard though slow to be repaired, the Office staff and management are unhelpful at best and actively harmful at worst. If there is something wrong with your rent check (like they made a paperwork error) they will not call you, email you, or alert you in anyway until the rent officially late then serve you an eviction threat and a court date. Keep EVERY notice/receipt/bill/email they ever send your way. If you give them a check and they don't cash it until it is late and they do the eviction threat, you'll have to get them a certified check/cashiers check and make sure that you get your previous check back. Keep a lawyer on retainer, just consider that part of your rent
Do not trust this Apartment complex. They will do everything in their power to take your money. They are uncommunicative and give you the runaround, and then blame you for it. They trump up bills after move out to try to take more money, and do not take care of you while you are there. Find anywhere else to live, seriously.
I have been at this apartment complex for 5 months now and Maria from the business office is the only person that is helpful and knowledgeable about everything. You have to called the office for maintenance but when you do nobody comes but as soon as you call Maria things get taking care of. I don't like to bother Maria but that is the only way I will get things taking care of. Like no other person in that office knows how to do their jobs and don't get me started with the lazy maintenance department, very lazy people. Can't wait for my lease to be over.
The property is alright. It works for those with a small family and commuting to Baltimore, Annapolis, Fort Meade, and Downtown DC. I have been here since the late fall of 2020. I have no rodents or bugs, thankfully; nor seen any. The fixtures, bathroom, and W/D in the unit are pretty old, since 1996. I have verified that as well through reliable sources. It is pretty quiet around the neighborhood as I work from home 100% to verify that. Trash can be pretty bad as there are not enough bins in the community and of course the litter bugs. The city comes several times a week to dump but it can get overflowed within 48 hours or less when 10 buildings are using the same 3 bins. The customer service in the leasing office is pretty bad. Due to the pandemic they are short staffed and have no business process improvement during the pandemic. The corporation and on-site management should have an answering service for unanswered calls, and closing periods. They are not concise with their paperwork for the lessor and their turnover time is high due to these many factors. A simple internal audit will bring forth lower retention to this organization. The utilities are not included in the rent as well, you will pay for Electric through BGE, can be pretty expensive. The parking is assigned by reserved marked parking space. You have to sign up to get your visitors on the do not tow list or pay another $300 for a parking pass. This has to be done before 4:00pm because management doesn't have a better system in place like most PG County complexes. I found it to be quite a triumph for such a small complex, I live in the largest complex in PG County and they were much better in management, facilities, and logistics. But there is notion to say, employees and management don't care, they don't have to live around here, and they let the chips fall where they may. Or they aren't receiving the support needed and its affecting the current residents and future. Maybe they should have a Resident Advocacy Board, containing interested volunteers (residents only) implemented to help management understand their faults and loopholes that make them loose integrity and look incompetent. Instead of faulting them, shoot them as opportunity to improve. If they could afford to hire me I would fire the current staff and told this place into the hospitable community it ought to be.
I moved in about a MONTH ago & I hate it. On my move In day the place was TRASHED, the kitchen was filthy, it was trash everywhere, the paint on the walls are peeling. Oh & it’s drawing all over my walls, my blinds are nasty, the stove and washing machine are from the PREVIOUS owners ! The rental office is even worse you can’t go in and on top of that you have to call 5+ times to get an answer. Save your time and money !
The Good: rent is reasonable for the amount of space. There are lots of large closets. Maintenance responds quickly and when an immediate fix is not possible, they'll do what they can for a temporary fix. Even with the bad management has never been disrespectful, just shady. Middle Ground: parking is ample, but if you get home after 9pm, you're not likely to get a spot where your building is. You'll have to walk a short distance which isn't that bad because there was ample lighting in the walkways. It's mostly clean, but trash tends to accumulate in the grassy areas. Not sure which neighbor, but these people have pet CHICKENS, yes you read that right - chickens. Not necessarily bad, but very strange. The Bad: Between 1pm-6pm close your windows and patio door unless you want a contact high. In the summer, the neighbors had parties frequently during the week. They set up a karaoke machine and speakers. When we moved in management wasn't completely honest and transparent about everything we should expect but we had to accept what we were given because we were out of time with my lease ending. First, we got a really dull ugly accent wall - not the pretty coral or turquoise that was in the model. We inquired about the reserved parking and never got a straight answer, probably because there were no reserved spots available which I'm sure they knew when we asked. We also requested a top floor apartment and were under the impression that that's what we were getting, but during the pre-move in walkthrough they informed us we were getting a unit in the middle. We had really bad issues with our upstairs neighbors. They flooded our apartment. They made more than excessive noise from sunrise to sunset. When I brought this to management's attention, I was told it was a "subfloor issue" despite the fact that I explained over and over that they were using an object to beat on the floor and there were loud thumps that shook our furniture plus the non-stop screaming. The police even got tired of them and management just made excuse after excuse for 7 months. There are actually subfloor issues because we hear every move the new neighbors make, but it's a night and day difference from the jerks that were there before. The walls are paper thin, we can hear our neighbors entire conversations, especially when you're trying to sleep at night. The good and middle ground are the minimum to be expected from a decent place which makes the bad completely unacceptable.
First off let me start by saying. I have been living here for about 7 months, When I first moved here everything was good great No issues at all. A few months in it started going downhill. My neighbors are very noisy, someone that lives above me plays loud music almost every night. And has fights with their significant other and it wakes me up in the middle of the night. My floors are uneven so some of the doors in my apartment won’t stay open They are constantly halfway close and halfway open. My doors squeak a lot because they are very cheap doors, my balcony blinds break often because they are so cheap. I am tired of buying new ones, The door to my apartment building is very cheap so any strong armed person can swing it open and it will break. I wish the apartment doors were more secure as in using a key to open the building door or a key Fob so anyone cannot just walk into the building only residents can walk into the buildings. Parking here is the worst, Asking for help and for maintenance to come out takes about 2 to 3 weeks sometimes longer. The hallway in my building smells like mildew like the carpet needs to be clean or something. It’s just not a pleasant smell. The threshold around all the doors are very cheap. There are no crown moldings and if they are they are very cheap and look cheap. If you are suggesting moving here. Unless you want all of these issues above.... keep looking, please do not move here
Been here 5 years and I love it. The staff is great and helpful. My apartment is very spacious, I have a washer/dryer, self controlled heat/ac, and the kitchen bay window is to die for. I dont plan on going anywhere anytime soon.??

I moved in May 8 2019 and have been getting bit by bedbugs since Day 1. They keep sending an exterminator because it takes "multiple treatments" I refuse to wait for those treatments to happen because my place should have been bedbug free when i moved in. I'm currently looking into taking legal action
We moved into Arden pointe 2 months ago they lied to us from the beginning. We were supposed to have updated appliances upon moving in. Once we moved in there were no updated appliances just the regular ones which were nasty they hadn’t bother to even wipe them down. No pest control came before we moved in so they had to come spray during which is risky for my health. The heating furnace broken within two months of us being there dead in the winter. Upon telling the rental office this there reply was “ we have other units with this problem and never called back which made me go up to the rental office in person only doing that did they come out and fix the heat. After this incident we finally got our appliances which were thrown in...the hood vent did not fit and another one had to be ordered the brand new dishwasher leaked water when you started it... it took them weeks to come fix the leak.. After this yup another problem our door lock was thrown on the door and you could literally see about 2 to 3 inches of space between the door and the lock they did not come out and fix this immediately we had to wait days for this. the door still doesn’t close properly. Finally the most nasty issue we have TERMITES which is beyond disgusting the rental office has know about this problem for a whole month yes they did send out 3 different exterminates which was only done when I called the corporate office. Till this day we still have termites and now maggots. If you are looking to move into this property save your money and time. I will not be renewing the lease and I’ve only been here for 2 months. The corporate office isn’t helpful either good luck with them.

I came in on a Sunday all stressed out, tired of looking for an apartment I would love. And came here and everything from the beginning was a breeze. I did everything I could on my end to get the ball rolling. Magdalene went above and beyond, being slammed on Sunday and being alone, she still was able to get me in. It literally took one day for me to get approved and be moved in. She worked really hard with me and I’m glad she was able to make it happen. She’s amazing, I recommend Magdalene here at Arden Pointe for all of your leasing needs.

I’ve lived in Arden Pointe for a few months now and have no complaints whatsoever. From the moment I went to apply, Khadesha was very helpful, answered all my questions, and made sure I was kept up to date throughout the process. The office staff is always friendly and polite. I’ve spoken to Empress several times and each time she had been nothing short of amazing. She’s even called me back to follow up with an issue (nothing major) I was having. The maintenance staff is quick and very considerate. The apartments are spacious, I see the cleaning people every morning cleaning up the property so the property is clean. I would definitely recommend this community.

i have been a tenant here since April 2016, i like certain people on the office staff but most of them are not worth anything and if you have a real issue most of them can not help or even give you any information to help. for example since summer 2016 my ac every other week will break down and blow hot air, and it typically happens on days it 's over 80 degrees outside. my air broke down sat 6/16 they temporarily fixed it and now it is broken down again 6/18 ive been waiting in an 86 degree house all day for someone to come out, and i have been told my office staff that the ticket is still open because they are having a lot of ac issues because they think it makes more sense to be cheap and do temporary fixes other than actually cafe for their residents! the teenagers sit in the hallways and on the playgrounds smoke weed, so you cant even enjoy the amenities or your own patio when you call the rental office about it they say they are going to send someone and never does. every once in a while there are gunshots in the community but the leasing office doesn't really hire security or do anything to secure the community. long story short once my lease is up Im outta here, cause they expect you to pay rent on time and want to give all these fees but never really care about us as tenants!

When you first approach this place, everything seems great. The office staff are great. Grounds appear clean. Well, I am here to tell you don't be fooled. It's all a front to get your money. Once they take all the money they can, you will up that special creek if and when your neighbors start to play loud music, make loud noise all hours of the day and night, early morning vacuuming, squeaky floors so loud you have to wear ear plugs so you can get some sleep... I could go and on, but this forum only allows so much. Just DONT' MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!! You've been warned. FYI. Today is Monday May 21, 2018 and a tree fell Saturday morning around 8:30 am and it is now Monday May 21, 2018 in the afternoon and the tree is STILL hanging on to my apartment balcony. This tree was marked with a caution tape back in March after the storm passed. They NEVER cut it down or did anything about it.

We're sorry you are not pleased. Our team was onsite when the tree fell due to the heavy rain storm to assess the area. Unfortunately our onsite could not remove the tree safely so we had to contact a tree removal company which came out on Monday morning. Please give us the opportunity to make this right. We are available to help M-F 8:30-5:30, Sat-Sun 12-4 at 301-776-8779 or email us at our email leasing@ardenpointeapts.com.

Very poor management. Doors broken, old shelves in apartments that have cracks in the walls which allows bugs into your home. Maintenance does a poor job of fixing appliances in your home. Since June 24th this plavace has switched office managers 4x's. No parking at night! You can find a better living experience in the projects. Real Talk! Dont say you havent been warned!
Let's start with the parking; there isn't any. They offer reserved parking, but we waited 4 months for the office to offer us one, since maintenance said they couldn't reserve spots in the winter because the paint wouldn't dry. If you want to go out at night, be prepared to park a long way from your apartment and walk on the grass because the sidewalks don't connect all the buildings. Next, we had maintenance out for several issues, none of which were fixed properly. The faucets in the shower were leaking water out the back so hot that it burned my feet, so they tightened them, and although it stopped the leak, the tool they used bent the metal knobs and gave them sharp points when you tried to turn them. The corner of the floor had mold from the water that used to leak out the back of the faucet, and when I pointed it out, they did nothing about it. They also went in the bedroom and took a panel off the wall; when they replaced it, it had black scuffs all over it and was not flush with the wall. The worst was when we went outlet to outlet to find which one worked with the switch and that turned out the be none of them. Maintenance attempted to fix it and that ended with none of the outlets in the bedroom working with the switch and every single outlet in the living room working with that switch, hence we had to use the knobs on our lamps in every room. The kitchen floor was a laminate that wasn't glued down right, so it was extremely squeaky. As for the laundry, yes it is in each unit, but it is the worst hookup I've ever seen. You have to connect the line to the sink and control it from that faucet. So you can't make dinner and do laundry at the same time because the line is feeding water to the washer. And when it drains, it comes out into the sink, so make sure there is nothing around because dirty water splashes everywhere. Keep in mind, this is all happening in the money I'm spending for an updated apartment. People throw their garbage into the bins, and if they miss, just let it lay there. On top of everything else, I tried to leave for work around 8 one morning and the cops wouldn't let me out because someone was shot and killed. I had to drive across the sidewalk to get to work. I ended up breaking my lease because I felt it was more than worth it to get out of there. If you want clean, quiet, and safe, DO NOT move here.
I have been in this apartment complex for a month now and I can say I made the right decision in moving. This complex is clean, quite, the staff is AWESOME, and most importantly the apartment is spacious. My leasing officer Nicole is a loving, caring, and mostly a God sent. She took her time with me and made sure that my moving experience was smooth and great. This is not a made up review from the company, I am a current resident and love this community of Arden Pointe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been in my new apartment for almost 2 weeks and I love it. Nicole is an awesome Leasing Manager and she made my moving process very seamless. As far as I can see, the complex is pretty quiet and I don't have any safety concerns. This is definitely a nice place for you to consider as you search for your next residence.
Don't rent at these apartment your life will be miserable nights without sleep due to the squeaking floor you can hear all the sounds from the unit next to you above you and blow you
I have been living at Arden Pointe for almost a year and so far I am pleased. A very spacious apartment for the amount of rent. I am never bothered with noise, I rarely hear my neighbors when I am in my apartment. The grounds are clean(except for the occasional evictions). They are fairly timely with the response to maintenance issues. The only issues that I have:(which are overlooked) the leasing office/business office is difficult to get in contact with and the property's enforcement of parking. The best way to get in contact with the leasing/business office is to physically go to the office which can be inconvenient at times. Taking all of that into consideration I would recommend this apartment complex just with letting people know to be aware of certain things.
I really like our apartment and the apartment complex. Where we are located is very quiet and we haven't had any issues with neighbors or issues with the noise. There is so much to do in the Laurel area as we are in the center of it all.
The apartment is a pretty nice size. We have what you call a family room which I wish was open so we could have a larger living room but right now we use it as a baby area. The kitchen in this unit is pretty small. There isn't enough counter space. The maintenance people are pretty quick to respond to your requests especially in an emergency. However, the front desk staff aren't always as helpful. Depending on the day or the time you may get a nice reception or they may be rude, and it's always the same people. This is our second unit with this complex. We had to move from one apartment in an emergency, but when we explained our circumstances they were more than willing to let us choose a new apartment and even kept the rent the same instead of upgrading it. All in all it's a nice complex. The grounds are well kept and they allow dogs!!!
Later for maintenance call. Leave extra refrigerator in my apartment for a week, after calling everyday to come get it out.
I currently live in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit and I'm glad with what I have. The area is quiet and pleasing to what I was looking for. The maintenance staff are great and fast to attend their services to any damages that arise. The groundskeepers are very attentive to cleaning the common areas and are friendly to the residents. The establishment is very well placed with communication with letting us of any new changes or updates. The parking is great and organized for us the residents. It's also great to know we are just a few feet away from all other things like the shopping center, metro stops, and accessibility to many other places. I recommend this place.
