Property Ratings at Argyle Place
I notified the office about there being mold in my apartment, and all they did was paint over it. It came right back within a couple of months, and they had absolutely no sense of urgency to correctly fix it, and when I moved out, they threatened to take me to court. That place is a joke, and it needs new management.
Manager is pushy and will try and keep you locked in with threat letters when your lease is up. The facilities are ok but the remodel does not constitute the 200 extra dollars you pay a month. I moved out two months ago and would move back if the rent was even somewhat reasonable . You can live at the legends for what they think these tiny apartments are worth.
When I first walked in the lady was on the phone going through her wallet I waited till she got off the phone and asked her if I could see the inside of an apartment she was very rude and said you have to come back a different day before 5 o'clock. Most people don't get off before 5 o'clock I walked in the door at 5:05 not a very good first impression.
The quality of work on the units they are currently "renovating" in between tenants is terrible. What we were shown on our pre-move-in walk-through was not at all what was advertised or promised. The newer buildings may be nicer, but the older ones need serious QUALITY remodeling. Very disappointed, as we were led to believe that we would be getting a newly remodeled unit. Everything was dirty, it had not been painted as promised, the window replacement was delayed, previous (and poorly repaired) water damage was visible on the window sill, the ceiling, etc. What was promised was not delivered, and we'll be going elsewhere to find our new home.
I've been apartment hunting for a few months now, and decided to give argyle place a look. after all, I have some family members that lived there for a little bit, and didn't have any major complaints, and I liked what I saw at that time. Argyle Place consists of two sets of apartment buildings, the newer batch: 3-story and some larger floor plans, and the older batch: two story with some smaller, less expensive floor plans. Not needing a ton of space, and wanting to save a bit on rent, I opted to check out the Lancaster floor plan (2 bed 2 bath) in the older buildings. I felt reserved about the older buildings, but was reassured on the phone by Beth and JD that they were being remodeled. " New flooring, New appliances, new windows and sliding glass doors. when a unit comes vacant we hold off on renting it out until we renovate," JD said. So I made an appointment for a viewing, met Beth, and she showed me around their model unit. The model unit hadn't been renovated yet, but no big deal, as it was the size and layout I wanted to see. The model looked nice, so I asked Beth to proceed with finding me an apartment of my own. JD even showed me a renovated unit as an extra reassurance. It looked good. Fast forward a bit, and I get an email letting me know what kind of money to be prepared to put down, my move in date, and numbers for utilities. Awesome! I was excited to be moving, and I was scrambling to get my ducks in a row in time, but I managed to pull it off. When signing day came around, I was thrilled and ready to go. I signed my papers, and handed over my checks. I thought it a little odd that they had me sign an addendum that they were going to be replacing my windows soon, given that they told me they were doing that between tenants, but no big, I can deal with a day of discomfort. Finally, the walkthrough. Please note that I had not seen the apartment I would get, but liked the model unit, and was going on faith that mine would be great. That was where I made my mistake. The first thing I noticed about apartment 109, was the world's most ugly patch job on the ceiling. This thing was awful. The work was sloppy, with visible gaps between the patch and original drywall, and the poor texture work... After basically filling the inspection form with other problems: dirty walls, holes, busted toilet, etc. I thought it best to call the whole thing off. I collected my checks, and had Beth destroy the contract. Buyer Beware.
This is the prettiest apartment community in Hickory. The staff is great, maintenance prompt and always very courteous. I just moved here a year and a half ago, but I have to say that it's perfect for me. A lot of the other nurses at the hospital live here, too. Lots of young professionals, but some older people, too. One woman has lived here for something like 20 years! She really gives you a sense of the kind of community they like to create here. Anyway, to the specifics: the apartments are great. Lots of floor plans to choose from. There are two different parts, one a little older than the other. I've lived in both parts, and really like them both. The newer has units that are a bit bigger, but they're all of high quality. And they will be even better here soon, I think, since they just started a multi-million dollar rehab. I went by and talked with Beth the other day about it, and it sounds like it's going to be amazing! Pool for the summer, trees for shade--it feels like living outside of Hickory, but in a very convenient location! I couldn't recommend it more highly.
I lived here for three years (until I moved in with my husband) and I can't say enough nice things about the place. What the others say about how pretty it is is right. When I drove home from work pulling into Argyle Place always took my stress levels down a peg or two. The trees, the shade, the nice neighbors. Most of my neighbors were nurses and teachers, though there were even some people who had been there for more than a decade! That tells you something right there. It's like a home. And for all of that the price is right, competitive without being cheap (you don't want a cheap place for your home). The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the pool was a nice place to sunbathe in the summer or get out of the heat. All in all, it's a great place to live. I'd still be living there if my husband didn't already have a house!
I love Argyle Place. I've lived here for almost two years now, and the residents, the staff, even the trees feel like home. Argyle is in a perfect location, not too busy but conveniently located to everything in Hickory. There's a nice pool, too. There's a newer phase and an older phase, with a variety of apartments, all nice. I live in the older ones, which I like, though the newer ones are super nice. But my favorite thing is the grounds. The way it's set up makes it feel like you're living in a neighborhood, not your typical "block" apartment community. Drive through, and you'll love it! Great management, great people, I couldn't be happier.
Perfect, quiet, peaceful place for families with pets! well maintained and helpful staff! centrally located!
